The 510 looks to have interesting features but I opted for a element as the reviews have been more favourable and it had maps and turn by turn in conjunction with kamoot. I have had it for about 1 year and use it for mtb and road rides all year round rain wind and snow and so far it has been flawless. Like you I watch my cadence and heart rate as I don't have power meter and the element has coloured led down the left showing which zone you are in.worth a look if you get fed up with the 510. Enjoy the VIDS.
Thanks for the tip. I am thinking about getting a new computer but it all boils down to finding something that will give me something that little bit extra functionality.
Having just bought my first road bike in a loooooong time, am now looking at what Bike computer to use.....the 510 looks great, but maybe a more modern model now as i'm buying new?
Phil John no mate I can't either. I think it worked once for me. To be honest I haven't really looked into it tho.. im sure there's a video to show you how it's done.
turn your bluetooth on, on your 810, and smartphone if they are paired go back to the weather on the 810, tap on it and you should get the present weather [where you are] and 3/4 hours coming, let me know, it worked for me
Does Garmin 510 will recognize speed/cadence sensors of my Lixada 2in1 wireless cyclocomputer (via some usual wireless connection, etc...) or do I need to purchase new sensors? Thanks
I deleted all my apps. I use outdoor cycle on my Apple Watch sometimes and/or a Wahoo Mini. I get enough information from that. The only thing about the mini is I can’t up load the information so I just take a photo.
Hi Jamie, the only thing I have is a film about how to stitch two files together. Not sure it’s quite the thing you need but here it is: th-cam.com/video/860DWAhRPX8/w-d-xo.html. Good luck.
Leonard do you need to connect your 510 to your smartphone via bluetooth to get weather report, just phoned Garmin they said i do, and doesn't it eat up your power on your devices keeping bluetooth on.
Hi there Phil, Yes, you need to have your 510 and your phone connected via bluetooth. It does use a little extra power on the phone but its never been a problem for me and my phone battery is pretty bad.I explain the whole process here: th-cam.com/video/ZMPfz7lhsv4/w-d-xo.html
Aging , but well. Good review. Practical advice Nice to see they are not just flakey to me, but all seem to have that quality and don't play well with phone at times. How much of the time they are out of connection and needing configuration is my issue, as I don't need more stuff distracting from the ride. Almost need a display setting for that. Thanks for the Strava links. They show how the data can be summarized.
Hi +Leonard went for a ride today guess what i deleted the ride, i had chunky gloves on pushed delete ride instead of save, any ideas how i can retrieve that ride [Garmin 810]
Hi Phil, whoops! That is rather unfortunate. From the sounds of it I’m afraid the ride is lost. As far as I am aware, there is no way of retrieving it once you have deleted it from your Garmin.
HI +Leonard plugged my garmin in last night, sighhhhhhh of relief my ride was in 2 parts 1st part, 11.4 miles then 7.8 miles on another file don't know how that happened
Does anyone can tell- is it more battery effective to put Garmin 510 screen on all time (with minimum brightness) or to put screen on to 15s or 30s (with 50%-60% brightness) during rides? Screen touch quality is really low, and I'm afraid is a bit of hassle to tap every minute or two during ride...
Hi Aaron, the 510 is a great cycling computer, although it does suffer from the usual Garmin flakiness from time to time. Some people like using their phones for many reasons; its a personal preference.
I’m still using mine. Great bit of kit.
you did a great job summarizing -- and capturing your screen while riding ty!

Congratulations on 5k subs mate
Thanks. I'm really pleased. TH-cam analytics make it a little tricky to see exactly who the 5000th subscriber is, though!
leonardmlee well it's not me. I was around the 2k mark
You've been with me a while!
leonardmlee stumbled across your Channel a few years ago not long after I starred cycling
It great to have you on board. Hopefully I’ve posted some stuff that you have found useful.

It seems that many people like the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt now. I've heard very good things.
@@jollygoodvelo i have heard others like it too, but it seems quite pricey when compared to Garmin equivalents.
From what I’ve seen they are at similar price points.
I use the 810. Had it for a few years now. Never let me down yet..
jamie can you get weather report on your 810 i can't any solutions
Phil John no mate I can't either. I think it worked once for me. To be honest I haven't really looked into it tho.. im sure there's a video to show you how it's done.
Just phoned garmin, your smartphone must be paired with your 810 via bluetooth to get weather
Phil John my 810 is paired with my phone and I use Garmin connect app to upload to strava. But still nothing. Let me know how you get on.

Any advice on buying a Garmin watch to go with a Garmin bike computer?
hi Leonard i can't get weather report on my 810 any ideas why
Thanks mate. This was useful.

Do you have any videos on reseving corrupted Garmin files

Leonard. Checkout dc rainmaker reviews for the features you want on all the new garmin devices.
Pete
Thanks Pete. I've seen his reviews and they are really helpful.
Do you use a heart rate strap too?
I do. Heart rate is one of my most important metrics.
Hi, can the 510 show power on the fly without having a power meter?
Hi Stuart, unfortunately it can’t. You have to have a separate power meter but you can have the readings sent to the 510 via Bluetooth.

That’s a relief. My guess is that it split your ride into several parts and you deleted the last part.

You should be able to see the screen in daylight without any backlight.
@@jollygoodvelo thanks, man
I agree, touch screen is so much easier . Can understand why Garmin revert back to damn buttons for the 520. Grrrr
Just got a 510, and I'm not sure I see the point over a phone.
