Arthur is like Christian Bale when he started as Batman. Dude was stick and bones in the machinist then ballooned and buffed in a matter of months when he worked on the dark knight. He also was forced to lose weight because the director found him too muscular.

Tbh, overweight Arthur isn't even that fat. His double chin does look very bad on him, but his build is that of a brute, which makes sense cuz he is the enforcer of the gang.

On my first playthrough, Arthur was overweight because I always wanted to make sure he ate well, so when Arthur gets TB, the weight loss was so sad and sudden it made the ending so much more emotional for me.

Even faster way: Turning Arthur into a moonshine alcoholic. When you drink in game, you will gain weight as soon as you pass out from it. Fastest way to pass out: Moonshine (around 5-6 drinks to hit the floor) - Rinse and repeat till you're fat. Took me around 15 minutes to go from underweight to overweight

After moonshine, gin is the next best thing , the bourbon then rum then brandy then beer

Actually, getting fat is kinda broken in rdr2 because you can eat like a ot of food and you will still loose weight while for example fast-traveling. The best way of getting fat is just drink moonshine until you pass out, then eat a ton of food and you do it over and over again.
Getting fat in this game takes a ton of work unlike real life. Very unrealistic Rockstar

I pre-ordered this game, have been playing since release and still play to this day, but I never knew there was a weight mechanic in game. That probably explains why my Arthur always looks inches from death. Man can't survive on whiskey and cigars alone, no matter how hard I try

I really love this kind of motivation for eating in a game. Even without the permanent threat of dying from starvation, there is a strong motivation for the player to go fishing, hunting in order to eat regularly and not getting those debuffs. That would be a great foundation for any future survival game, instead of just the “need” to eat, in oder not to die within 30min playtime. Sorry for the bad English, I hope you get the idea 😅

i read somewhere that binge eating doesn’t really have that much an effect immediately and just wastes a bunch of food. i always struggle with not feeding arthur and my rdo character so they’re always skinny and i wanted them to be heavier. what you have to do is eat 4 meals a day of big game meat (which you said has to most calories in your video :) and alcohol and have a lot of snacks in between like chocolate, chips, and jelly beans. this is probably the most effective way i’ve learned and it’s basically just what you do to get fat in real life speaking from experience haha
Yeah, I didn't really enjoy my Arthur being underweight all the time, but the game doesn't really encourage you to eat that much. I regularly had meals when I "felt" like it and almost always a finer one at the saloons, but still kept staying underweight.
i could be wrong but i believe the game suggests that game meat is leaner and you actually get fatter from snacks

You could have used the Wolf Heart Trinket from the fence to get 15% more drinking capability. You get the Wolf Heart from the legendary wolf by the Springs.

Actually, no. That's just the sheer amount of physical activity he goes through. Man has the stamina of a raca horse, you can run all day long and the guy isn't even tired or with a debuff
Eating restaurant meals and getting really drunk, without passing out, often get Arthur pretty fat really quickly. I've never timed it like this challenge but whenever I wanna make Arthur act like a drunken slob he gains way more weight than usual 😂😂😂

Actually, you could probably do it even faster if you did prep work ahead of time. Kill all the gators you can find, then cook them all, and store them in the satchel, you're allowed 99 of each... plain, minty, oregano, and sage, so just under 400 big game meals.
Power chow them all just after midnight, and do one screen fade and see what happens.

How there's speed runs with different categories. Different speed runs from anorexic to obese. No alcohol run, no canned food runs, only crafted food runs.
happened to me on accident in multiplayer. ate a bunch of prime bc of the health buffs. all my friends made fun of me and threw fire bottles at me telling me i "need to burn it off".
I decided to jump off a train bridge but one of them roped me and told me to run it off. I became forrest gump and ran everywhere. I look great now and still enjoy prime while being chadly.

It's very late to say this but the speed on which you gain or lose weight depends on how much you have eaten since the start of the game. If you have ate nothing since the start of the game and want to gain it a while later it will be very difficult to gain. It goes both ways, if you have aten a lot of food since the start it will be harder to lose it and eating small meals can make you gain more weight than it normally would.
This is way more interesting but…it’s so much easier to get fat Arthur just eating stew and riding round the tree, occasionally setting up a camp to screen fade in Valentine🙈

One thing is certain, it's tough to maintain Perfect weight prior to catching TB.
I know a pretty fast way that increases Arthur’s weight in chapter 6 as well:
Step 1: go to any bar that offers food and rooms.
Step 2: get the 5 dollar meal twice.
Step 3: sleep in the room(camping works too, you just need the screen transition.
Repeat and you will gain weight, I’m currently in the lasts 3 missions chapter six and I’m still overweight.

the quickest way I've managed to get arthur fat is to binge eat, immediately take the stagecoach from st denis to rhodes, binge eat, take the stage back, and repeat

I strongly suspect there is a hard limit to how much weight gain Arthur can have each time. Likely you hit the limit, then wasted tons of food
there is. iirc there's a special sound that plays when you've eaten the saturation limit but it's so subtle i've never been able to place it. i assume it's 5-6 food items but i'm not sure
I think this aspect of the game (eating to stay healthy) was supposed to be a commentary on how hard it was to survive at that time let alone get fat because even wealthy people needed to work to get excessive amounts of food

As someone with an annoyingly high metabolism, this is very accurate. To gain any body fat I have to be very sedintery and shovel high calorie food into my face all day long, even then it might only be muscle weight I gain and only a few pounds after a month, at that. It gets expensive just to maintain body weight.
