I fought about 6 Kings today and it made understand very clearly that I don’t know how to tech throws. I didn’t stop a single throw the entire time I played
Don’t be too hard on yourself about that, most people can’t break throws consistently. The fact is most people can’t break throws on reaction because humans can’t make reactions like that so quickly. I know some people will argue “But I looked up the average human reaction time, it’s 250ms” (for reference 30 frames is 500ms) but this is because people don’t understand that there are multiple speeds for different types of reactions. The number you get is for single visual stimuli and one response, there is no real discernment or decision making happening. So yeah, when it comes to things like lows, a lot of people can react to things that 20 frames or more, the only consideration they doing is “do I stand or do I duck? Block the low or block the mid?” (High is irrelevant since it’s countered by both ducking and blocking mid). When you throw in a third option, the reaction time is slowed significantly. We know that King’s throws (as well as all characters) can be broken 3 ways, 1, 2, or 1+2, the key is to see which ways there arms are moving. So it’s 3 different stimuli for 3 different responses. Things like complex recognition reaction time can take upwards of 700ms on average, I would call discerning arm position with 30 frames complex recognition. I even found a NIH study that showed that the average reaction speed when responding to 1 of 3 possible colours (3 stimuli for 1 of 3 responses, like king’s throws) red, green and blue(Granted this study was done only on females, but I don’t think anyone is going to be arguing that females don’t react as fast as men, I think females serve as a good enough example for my argument). The average reaction time for these colours was 550ms, which King can grab faster than at 30 frames or 500ms. And again, that’s just reacting to what colour comes on the screen and pressing the right button, I would say that’s not nearly as complex recognition then determining arm positions. So personally, I would argue the average human reaction time to something like King’s grabs is somewhere between 550ms and 700ms, my guess probably something around 600ms. Edit: Worst part is, even if you train years to be able to react to king’s throws consistently, what do you get for it? Nothing, you reset, if anything king has the advantage because of his amazing powercrush. King loses pretty much nothing for you breaking a grab, but in order to break it you need to be better then the average person by a pretty big margin through most likely years of training. Improving reaction time is an extremely difficult thing to do and often takes years of consistent training to make any kind of significant gains. Even then it’s usually on a few ms, 10ms improvement would be impressive on it’s own, but you need at the very least 50ms better then the average person. If we are being real though, it’s probably more like 100ms. And King can take 70-80% of your health in one grab string. This is why I say King is stupidly overpowered. Not only does he have such a great grab game he also have amazing offence outside of grabs such as his amazing powercrush. People really are carried by King. For me, I try to duck throws. I do have fairly decent breaks, I can’t break everything but I could break maybe 4/10 throws, not great not terrible.
King’s damage needs to be nerfed imo. Like the character does nothing and gets insane damage that would take me serious execution to get. It’s just unfair how one single throw deletes 1/3 of your healthbar with no recovery health just to name one out of many broken damage moves he has.
I’m a simple man, I see peak gameplay & I love it

@@dylaroo24you are the real king brother
As a King main on tekken 8 it's great to see a high rank king who has actual paitence and isn't yolo spamming throws.
They don't play like that at high ranks because it will not work lol same with parry spam players
4:27 superb sidestep
2:27 Death Time Started Haha
Now THIS is a King player I respect. Good combo skill, fair throws and no smash buttons.
Wait, this is the King you fought when you got promoted to GoD
yes
4:35 this whole round is amazing T8 Jin, so clean
4:37 the 3x b3 f1 reset on 2nd one?
Both of those final rounds were pure class. Devil HAS to be the best Jin in the world
Devil vs a good King, I know this’ll be an incredible match up!
i dont play tekken but yeah , i always watch devilster video since he do featuring video with dyland pros

Cry about it
@@jeremianoel3461 Oh wow! Such a compelling counter argument, I am truly defeated 🤦♂️
Yay. No cheater like last time
Win or lose, against a King, i dont rematch. One of those match ups where the fun instantly disappears.
