    If you are using a modern Panasonic, your smartphone in combination with the Panasonic app is also a good option.

    Half pressing the shutter does not focus in video mode for my GH4 unless I'm on the wrong dial setting, should I be in MF, AFS, or AFC?

    Wide lens, close aperture, rise to max acceptable ISO, use lights.... Manual focus with the app. Welcome to the deep focus world...

      How do you do manual focus with the app. You can only tap focus on the app right ? You cant slowly control the focus manually/linear right ?

    I have 12-35mm 2.8 and was really upset with autofocus in 4K. I tried 1080/50p even without bumping up shutter speed. Autofocus did worked so much better. Therefore I suggest mushy 1080 for the shots where you need AFC and 4K for the others

    Hi Nigel, I purchased the remote shutter for focusing, but it doesn't focus in Manual mode. How do you configure it to focus with your remote shutter in Manual mode? Thank you!

    FIX FOR G85 LX10 - set your shutter speed to one setting above the 180 degree I.e shooting at say 50fps set your shutter speed to 125 rather than 100 - major improvements to face tracking and AF - I have tried this on my LX10 and wow face tracking AF has improved out of site

      @@el_kuks Yes! I ended up returning the 80D since it´s 1080p quality was just a bit too soft and went with a used sony a 6000 instead. I´m quite happy now, although I miss the mic-Input a lot...

      @Chico4k 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no what have you done? Lol I switched from 80D to the G9 and the 4K video and 6k photography is nuts, your optimization choices are insane! But if you wanna do photography I can see the appeal of the 80D for its plentiful megapixels.

    Super helpful video. Subscribed! The continuous autofocus doesn't seem to be as bad as people have said. I'm looking mainly at the G7... don't know which Panasonic you're using, here. But it certainly seems usable. How do you feel about it, a few years later?

    So I've actually started using face-tracking CAF for most of the interviews I shoot, but I always have two cams running, A and B, to make sure I get everything. But to be honest, I haven't had any real problems. On the S1 with the 24-105mm lens, however, the lens wobble in the bokeh areas is a bit too noticeable for my eye, but I haven't had a customer complain. Yet.
    That being said, I used the G9 with face-detect CAF for the first time ever in Late February, and it handled that wobble super-well and did a better overall focusing job that the S1. I was using the 12-35mm f/2.8 with the G9.

    my camera autofocuses on everything except me. Aim at wall, focuses, aim at pictures, keyboard, etc it will focus within a second. If I aim it at my face it will never focus. Does any have any advice for options or anything I can try to make it prioritize my face? Nigel recommends turning on the face detection, and mine is on. I see it tracking my eyes, I see the yellow square around my face so it's doing its job except it's just not actually focusing. It is continually tracking me eyes but why is it not making use of that info by focusing on it? I've tried selecting an area to focus by touching the screen and pinpointing an area, but even tho the box is there, it's just not attempting to focus at all. Any ideas guys? It will focus on anything else except me. Even if I wear the most contrasting outfit, neon pink stripes etc, it will not focus on me... I dont know how I can stand out more than this -_-
