    Polo will never be very popular in the US. It's probably the least accessible sport in the world simply because you have to be extremely wealthy in order to afford the basics.

    • @Grace-ie1fk
      @Grace-ie1fk 10 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      It's actually not too bad expense-wise. Or at least not anymore expensive than any other equestrian sport. You just need to have jeans, boots, and a helmet for lessons. So long as you can find a Polo club with lesson horses, you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to play it.

    • @pml08usaf
      @pml08usaf 10 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Delta Wickham I agree with that. My point was more about the horses. Unless you're relatively wealthy, or the polo club offers significant discounts or free lessons, the horses (and thus the most important aspect of the sport) will remain well outside the reach of the average person. Polo will remain a sport for the ultra-wealthy.

    Riding is all about the ultimate spiritual experience - It’s the separation of your consciousness (or soul, as some would call it) from your physical body. Yes, it's that cool. In fact, there are theories that claim you're already astral projecting when you sleep. Most of us just lose recollection of it when we awake. So the riding is being able to do this while being "conscious" of it. Rissala Polo Club.

    Greetings to argentina and this champions!
    This is a traditional Iranian sport.
    There only historical evidances of this sport is only found in Persia, one evidance in Persia/Iran in bishapour, shiraz there are mountain carvings from Sasanian Persia era (200 A.D) in one scene it representing a polo site, at one side stands the imperial team of "Chogān" stading in lines vs one of his foes teams, which is one of his relatives. its said that the Iranian tribes used to battle eachother with the game of polo or buzkashi, to save their men and safe from casualties. Thats why its called "sport of kings" because it even been played by the kings of Persia to prove their might in the region.
    This sport came to europe only 200 years ago, while it been playing in Iran and central asia for over 2500 years, and in india for arround 1800-2000 years. Its important to know the history ,its not a british sport, culture of cavalry and horseback arts are one of the brightest Iranian identities ,and represents our culture and our background, polo have't been played in iran since the qajars ruled over Iran, its arround 100 years. But always been know to the people and was visible in the Iranian art and poetry. Its original name is infact "Chogān".
    Its funny that british came to the region 100 years ago forced most of nomadic people to settle down and, then you suddenly hear that british is playing our national game and representing it as a british game.

    This is Sagol Kangjei, the origins of modern-day polo. Legend has it that Manipur's deity-king Kangba invented the game in the 14th century BC, and that in 33 AD., deity-king Nongda Pakhangba organised the first polomatch. ... Joseph Sherer, sets up the world's first polo club, the Silchar Kangjei Club

      @@user-oo6qk2fj9h How do you know about it. Who told you ? Probably someone told you or you see. Anyone can claim it were it invented. But there should be some proof.
      Some saying polo has already been played in Persia..OK fine but all of you missed out a very crucial point that it was the British who set up the first modern polo club in British India after discovering the game sagol kangjei in manipur
      Manipuris didn't claim polo was invented by us but the British had it in their paper meaning we are the legal owner of the modern version which is why every year our hometown imphal is thronged with foreign crowds from Australia England and other commonwealth countries during the annual tournaments where we have our own manipur team vs the rest of world rather than being part of india team
      Persian theory is not reliable from modernist point of view its like saying aeroplane was born in india when we all know the Wright brothers are the official inventers.. well technically also Persian civilization was already destroyed by Alexander and their game already forgotten long back. It was just a theory not proof.

    Logicamente hay màs JUGADORES DE FÙTBOL QUE DE POLO, pero esto es asì en cualquier parte del MUNDO y en relaciòn a cualquier otro DEPORTE, es màs, todos los JUGADORES de POLO JUEGAN AFICIONADAMENTE AL FÙTBOL.
    Lo que sin dudas ocurre es que si JUGÀS AL POLO PROFESIONALMENTE SEGURO NACISTE EN ARGENTINA, esto es asì porque ARGENTINA ES INVENCIBLE EN EL POLO, en eso ARGENTINA ES ÙNICA y ademàs es un GRAN ORGULLO porque el POLO es el DEPORTE MÀS EXCLUSIVO DEL MUNDO, ES EL DEPORTE DE LOS REYES Y SOLO LOS MULTIMILLONARIOS LO PUEDEN PRACTICAR EN UN BUEN NIVEL.

    The origin of polo is conflicting. However the modern polo originated from Manipur, a state in India. British first saw the game being played by Manipuri royals and soldiers as a kind of war practice game because Manipuris had a warfare called Arambai which is very similar to the moves of the traditional polo. The mallet design used today is also of Manipuri style whereas Persians used only a curved stick.

      Norris Haobam India got it from china and Mongolia. Mongolians are known for their skill with horses and they played the sport to practice their horse riding. India spread it to the British during colonization

      Actually it come from Peshawar, Pakistan. But even that likely originates from the Mongols who used a early form of the game to train cavalry. The mongols like Timur converted to Islam and spread to Pakistan and then India.

    @ 06.30 in the presenter says that a racehorse peaks at 3 or 4, however, that is a VERY 'soft' comment: she seems to be thinking of Flat horses, only, which, individually, can 'peak' at any time,: for some, even when they're in double-figures. The comment, obviously, doesn't even admit the existence of Jumpers, many of which come from an earlier career as Flat horses. Presenters need to be up on this very basic knowledge of whichever subject they are broadcasting on.
