    On magical surfing days it seems like time has stopped but it surely does not, good memories can last forever

    I spent a month living in and surfing J Bay in 1984. I was also lucky enough to get clean 6' Bruce's Beauties during that time. The day before Bruce's, J Bay was huge and nobody was out. Me and a mate tried to paddle out and got smashed by the shore break and washed 500m down the point in a few minutes, before giving up. We got our reward the next day at Bruce's..... Great memories.

    Really enjoyed watching this. Really nice work. Takes me there and away from my current too hot and humid life here. The Dream Wave for me.

    That one part of the clip where the camera points north down the beach to Kabeljou"s and all you see are sand dunes and bush - No Houses?????????? Precious!!! precious!!! precious!!! Compared to now, where it's completely over taken by beach house mansions for the rich, where you can't even find a place to park??????...beautiful to see this...looked like heaven...Imagine???????????? We can only imagine the awesome seclusion and beauty it was those days. I surfed it in 86 for the first time and already the coast was dotted with houses.

    Thought I recognized Shaun and Fitzy before I even read the script.......that's how we surfed back then, we used to emulate those guys, along with Hakman, Gerry, Reno, BK.......and Nat. A great era. I was lucky enough to grow up in SoCal through those years, but never made it to the promised land at Jeffrey's.

    excellent historical footage, bravo! as for the soundtrack, really it deserved better. I suggest some Stephen Stills Manassas or even a Pink Floyd track.

      John M'Boro Dickson Yes I agree the soundtrack is not so good though with TH-cam restrictions it’s hard to put up good music.

      I bought your book Dennis and looking forward to reading it. The footage is magic except the soundtrack as you'd mentioned TH-cam makes a mess of it. I had to download for myself and added a pink floyd soundtrack for my personal watch obviously, if you want to have it it I gladly happily give it to you and get rid of it on my end, this is to good. TH-cam will allow it but demonetize it.

    The music is generic youtube music that is not copyrighted and allowed with anyone's clips. I was also sad I could not use my own music though it would have been pulled down by youtube, its a shame you can't choose your own music, especially when it's for non-profit, thank you all for your comments.

    Why oh why have so many surfers moved to multiple fin set ups. THe power, the style and grace of riding a single fin cannot be beaten when it comes to the soul of surf.
    Multifin boards are set up to suck your board into the water where a single fin reduces huge amounts of drag and allows the board to be fast graceful and very responsive.
    ANd they don't pop out of the water like so many people think. Don't believe me, go try a single fin sport board or performance longboard. Give it some time; you won't go back.

    • @debaucherizer
      @debaucherizer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Slow small waves single fin is great. In steeper, faster waves the single fin will give you a "drop" feeling as you takeoff, which is really fun. But, single fin is way slower off the bottom. I look at it like this, what's more stable, allowing for more speed and control, a unicycle, a three wheeler, or a four wheeler? Especially for an older surfer, you cant beat a quad. Quad vs Single Fin, unless its a longboard for small waves, i pick quad every time.

    I remember the 1st stubbies contest at burliegh heads with Shaun and rabbit super glassy and perfect waves ...
    Shaun won it l pretty sure on these semi pin single fins that contest was really the start of commercial surfing.l reckon....

    Back then the boards were really primitive. It was all about the trim instead of the turn. One guy looked like BK! BK was the man. A couple of guys had beaver tail wetsuits. I had one of those back then.

      The music I used was non-copyrighted music from youtube its the only easy way to put a soundtrack to your video, I am sorry if it spoiled your experience watching the video though its the only way I know how to because youtube will pull down any copyrighted material. Thank you for your comment.

      At the time before google took over i tried to put up a vid with popular music, youtube told me i could not use the copyright music, though I found recently they are allowing different music that is copyrighted, I was not aware that older copyrighted music sometimes is accepted. I am sorry for your disappointment. Thank you for your comment and watching the vid.
