Blackmaw should be in B tier, its basically the platonic ideal of a gun that all guns should be based around, balanced in every situation you never feel screwed by its design flaws
This is actually incorrect. Blawmack is actually at 84th percentile on highest DPS. Though that's judging that DPS naked not using any damage mods, buffs, etc. It also has higher accuracy than your average gun. On the other hand, the total DMG in reserves is at 42th percentile, meaning you will feel that you are running out of ammo more quickly than other guns.
@@GrubKiller436yeah for that reason I switched to the pulse rifle when I finally got it. Slightly less damage but same crit, higher stats and ammo reserves. I use twisting wounds/corrosive rounds on it
Pro tip for bone saw overheat. Pop a relic and then cancel the relic with a roll, by the time you're up the overheat will be almost over. I relic cancel into two rolls to get a better position when I accidently overheat, and by the time I'm up and aiming, Im slinging lead down field.
Good list except for I think you missed on Blackmaw. It's an A tier weapon.

Blackmaw is way better than the trash typewriter and if you just do short controlled burst the spread of the Blackmaw is smaller than the typewriter at its tightest point and it takes the typewriter 20 or so bullets to get that spread down to begin with and you almost have to commit to shooting 20 rounds just so it can be accurate at range
Blackmaw is my favorite gun and easily s tier. when people were selling those nightfall builds dime a dozen I was over here with corrosive rounds and momentum on my blackmaw fragging out (still a crit fishing build but hey its fun)
Better yet you can make it a Merciless 2.0 with the addition of Twisted Wounds.
That without all of the downsides like the long reload time and having to take into account projectile travel time which Merciless suffers from.

I agree with whole list except blackmaw ngl, it heavily carried me until i got nightfall but blackmaw still holds that high place for me since its just an all around solid gun. It does not have any downsides at all and its funny how it can act as a better merciless with twisting wounds on. Easily A tier for me but if i had to put it in comparison to others then solid B+ tier.
I tried using blackmaw but I can't. It's just not as good as typewriter or the LMG. Imo
@@RobK-rl6snBlackmaw has very little spread and a good effective range + good damage per bullet. It is capable of shooting weak spots from afar on trash mobs with a bullet per bullet play style I didn't find as effective for the other twos.
This makes it a solid option for it's flexibility imo. ;)
Yup Blackmaw is definitely the best option when you want a gun with an open mod slot that is good both close range and still decent at longer ranges. It also has a pretty quick reload. Typewriter has abysmal starting spread which makes it nearly useless at longer ranges. Bonesaw overheats and has atrocious reload. Meanwhile Blackmaw has none of those weaknesses. And it actually does a lot of raw DPS too.
Blackmaw in C is crazy. Defiantly an S-Tier gun, you might have some glitches going on as it's been known to have some with mutators
I'd say Blackmaw is out of place with those failed gimmick guns tbh, it's very flexible, and using hugs/huch it performs on par with bonesaw or typewriter.

I cleared Apocalypse final boss with Blackmaw ! Definitely the most user friendly gun with great DPS with corrosive + momentum set up. S Tier definitely for me sorry
It has incredibly high accuracy not to mention high DPS. The only drawback the game-makers made on this gun was that it runs out of ammo fast. But since I pack ammo boxes with me (or sometimes gunslinger), it essentially has no downsides.
I put twisting wounds on mine and just got corrosive rounds yesterday, the bleed and corrosive is so satisfying and helps bring up my damage for boss fights since im running a tank healer

Bulldog is still my favorite gun alongside with the magnum, even thought they both the starting gear of challenger, I still use them on apo with my challenger. They just feel great to shoot
Starkiller is fine imo but Blackhole needs to be like firestorm and do moderate DoT with a stronger pull before the explosion. Also there is no reason it should cost 1,500 mod power for something a normal gun can do but better.
I’ve had enemies walk right out of it because they’re slowed but not really pulled in.
confused at the dislike for the crossbow very high per shot damage (only the widowmaker and decete have higher) better rof than all the other high damge long guns (taking into acount charge times for bows) it also has open mod slot. I'm not saying that it is an A tier weapon but if you take into account that the coachgun has lower rof [on paper] it has almost half the range, half the crit chance and inconsistant hig reg the only advantage is that it's 2shot not 1. If the coach gun, decete, and widowmaker are all A or S rank with their flaws and weakness then the crossbow is defenatly not a D rank
Glad to see the typewriter getting some love. It was one of my favorites in R1 even tho it was outshined by the assualt and beam rifle. It just has a good feel when shooting. It still does in r2 which is pretty cool.

I rock corrosive rounds on the smg and hotshot on bonesaw. Swapping to reup the cor debuff and to manage heat together. Quickly became my favourite weapon combo in the game
I ran apocalypse with some friends using bonesaw with momentum, it's amazing! I also put the 10% crit chance and 20% crit dmg and 10% range dmg relic fragments, just for that extra kick.
I would shoot until I ran out of ammo, then use the westernizer skill from the gunslinger (with a really low cooldown) to instantly refresh my ammo, and because of the 8s of infinite reserve ammo it gave me enough time to shoot off like 50-70 shots then activate the corrosive rounds mod to have 150 bullets in the magazine at no loss from the reserve ammo :D
Wrangler's reload speed can be fixed, and honestly it goes HARD. Pairs exceptionally well with the Gunslinger archetype (juet like silverback)

It really is crazy that these lists get made with absolutely no consideration for any testing or data on DPS at all. Anyone who looks at this video should just consider it completely useless, because you cannot gain any information out of it.
It must be really easy to get Remnant 2 views on youtube right now. Anybody can go and easily make a better list than this cause this is easily a bad take. Just make sure you go look up DPS data and Total DMG in Reserves data, consider if a gun is open mod or if a gun has a good mod, and you can easily make a better video than this.
Good video, like that everything is explained, but I don't see how Blackmaw is 2 tiers under the pulse rifle. They feel very similiar to me. Blackmaw has a slightly higher dps, but smaller mag size. In OhDough's video, the Blackmaw seemed to outclass the pulse rifle in boss to kill to time. Pretty sure the Blackmaw has a faster reload, but I could be wrong.

Yeah. Not trying to be disrespectful to the creator of this video, but this tier list was made entirely out of feelings, without any solid testing or data in sight.
Blackmaw with Momentum is what I run, and it's great. The reload may be frequent, but it is short enough to not drop Momentum. Not something I can do with most other long guns.
No gimmicks, you can reload in one roll, and keep the pressure up. A tier.
Completely agree with the Sagittarius points. I love using the bow, it just stinks that you're stuck using a weapon without a mod slot.
Blackmaw is arguably S tier and at least an A tier. Huntmaster is A tier. I love it.

I also feel like some weapons depend on what archetype/build you are running. For example: I used the Typewriter with a hunter and it felt like a long ranged death beam, much more so than it would've felt on another archetype.
Something not mentioned for Merciless is that so long as you applied the passive bleed, if you then swap to the mod, the bleed won't decay. So you can keep the bleed up for 100% of the fight, even if you don't have an opening to fire it long enough to reproc it, as long as you toggle the mod back on.
They should make boss weapons come with the choice of switching their mod out. But you can’t use the boss weapon mod on other guns. Fixed mods is a negative which makes boss weapons less desirable which I don’t think was their intention
As a shotgun guy I gotta say that both the Bulldog and Sporebloom are better than Ford's if built properly.
I have all these and fully tried all them too for more then a day and in the end I ended up going back to my starting gun blackmaw because its automatic tight recoil spread and just decent dmg mod options, I use extended mags for it however Tommy gun is my second fave however recoil spread is very annoying especially when u need first few bullets to be accurate for example on cube boss
Just drink some juice and that issue is non existent.

Deceit is incredible. With a few mod generating traits and maybe a ring, you’re getting it off every other reload.
Combined with a throwing charged melee weapon and your constantly popping the boss in the back for major damage. Don’t even need to target weakspots
Blackmaw is easily A+ or S- tier. Swap a mod to suit any build, extremely user friendly and it's super reliable.
Wrangler long reload isn't long if you aren't doing the whole clip. It's based on a percentage based on missing ammo, so if you are doing partial reloads it's much faster than most others.
anyone liking the first one more? i mean i was so shocked and excited when this game was announced at the game show. it could be the experience and memories of the first one that makes me feel this way.
Sweet vid. Just a question. That "inconsistency" you felt with some guns, like Coach Gun, Wrangler, etc, could that be because of the mostly hidden "Recoil Recovery Speed", or whatever the name is? Since I noticed you often fire semi's pretty much at speed cap, and doing so will make consecutive shots RNG unless you wait for Recoil/Spread to completely normalise between shots. I did the same and made me dive deeper into wtf was happening.
There are ways to remedy this, making some weapons beastly instead of meh. The simplest way to check if this is an issues for the weapon shootat dummies using HU + Hunter's Focus and without.
You might need to add some combination of "Handling" Trait / Inert Overcharger Amulet / Point Focus Ring / Spread Fragments / for some weapons but know that you can spam all of the semi's at Max Fire Rate without ANY inconsistencies. Shotty's need range too tho. But you get "Longshot" as class trait with HU so. The next best thing is Fae Hunter Ring
DMR's like the Wrangler only need a ring to be completely spammable at pin point accuracy which makes it blow the M1 out of the water in all categories. But out of the box it will feel really average (which is due to the M1's default recoil and spread recovery being high in comparison).

all these comments loving blackmaw... i started playing this week and its crazy how i got the gun picking handler and spent the entire next 72hrs grinding to get guns that look cooler but perform worse than the blackmaw
they shouldve not made it so easy to get early on in the game it kind of felt like my future efforts unlocking new equipment didnt amount to much
This is absolutely true. lt is actually a nuts gun, being at 84th percentile of highest DPS of all the long guns. Meaning most other guns you get will be noticeably worse when it comes to dps. Not to mention of course it has high range and accuracy. The only downside is the ammo runs low.
I'd love if the crossbow penetrated targets/armor, and maybe did a bit more base damage. In exchange for a slower loading of a bolt if needed.
Could definitely see it doing some bleed on hit, but I could also see it applying a resistance down debuff or a slow too.
I could definitely see a crossbow bolt applying slow when shot at enemies legs. Or give it armor piercing/armor ignore for bolts that hit the chest.
Everyone already calling it out, but Blackmaw in c-tier is ridiculous. It's easy A and probably S. The best part about the gun is that it performs extremely well on virtually any build. You don't need to use specific loadouts to "unlock its potential". It just works.
I wish you would do boss breakdown videos. The best way to defeat bosses on apocalypse and a breakdown of their move sets and how to avoid them.

It has a great sound and I like not having to charge it like other bows. Surely that's a good thing? Not sure how it compares to widowmaker though, which is in the same ballpark.
Yep, I feel like he undervalued the silent aspect too, a lot of the time I could just pick off all the enemies in a room one at a time without any aggro
Solid list and very informative but not putting black maw in A tier is a big L. In my opinion its one of the most flexible weapons in the game - open mod slot, good range, good rate of fire, solid dps, etc
I was so upset about Starkiller when I got it. Cleared Apocalypse just to get it because I loved it in remnant 1. Took a heavy nerf with slower shooting and half the mag capacity

Yea it’s stupid that the sniper gets A and the Xbow gets D when they are fundamentally the same weapon (1 shot weapons with extremely high damage and high precision modifiers). I’d say it is worse because it is a projectile but that still should be B and not D.
I do not know how to fully explain it but it feels so much worse than it did in Remnant 1, maybe its because bows do exactly the same thing as it but better
@@stevepenn2582 It's projectile speed, Xbow is slower compared to Bows and the sniper so harder to hit so it having the SAME dmg makes it feel worse.

Possible fix for Sag: Make the stars enemy seeking. This is a lot like Helix Rockets, but where helix must hit an enemy to be effective, starfall will work as long as there are enemies present. To elevate it as a fixed mod and differentiate from Helix, direct hits with starfall will cause all stars to home in on that enemy. This should elevate the weapon into S-tier.
deceit is much too clunky while demanding both supercharger and archers crest to even be good. That is not an S tier weapon. Imo, S tier weapons perform very well in multiple builds and combat scenarios while not having to jump through hoops. Blackmaw and Huntmaster for example.
its absolutely crazy to me that you put huntmaster and widowmaker as A tier while savior was put in C tier. Savior just does way more DPS than most other long guns, even if you include the long reload. It is undeniably better for bosses. If you are valuing open world mob killing, Savior is also phenomenal, as each shot pierces, and has one of the best mob killing mods. Really Nightfall, Sagittarius, and Savior should be a tier above all of the other guns listed as A tier, and Deceit should probably be downgraded as it is too situational.
This reads like a joke. Savior is a weapon I think people want to like because it's a hardcore reward. So it should be special. It took me a while to get over this. But man this gun is bad.
I tried so many builds to make this work. HUGS, Challenger and Gunslinger. Almost every ring combination and mutator you can think of. Not a good gun. Sorry. Super average. Especially when you consider this is a bow. Crescent Moon makes this thing look like the unwanted step child. I don't even have to run a dedicated bow build to make Crescent Moon work. While savior is just.....meh. So average
@@requiemagent3014 I agree that Savior is currently not as good as Crescent Moon for boss killing, but that is why my original comment did not mention Crescent Moon at all. If you just look at the DPS when you are hitting fully charged shots, you can see that Savior is competitive with the best of the other long guns. Add in Archer's Crest, and it pulls even further away. Crescent Moon and Nightfall both have a mod that cause them to outdamage Savior, whereas Sagittarius has comparable non-mod damage to Savior. I believe Sagittarius has slightly better sustained DPS, whereas Savior has better burst DPS. All of these guns have negligible spread, and so they are all among the best boss killing weapons. Videos of DPS testing and boss killing testing support this.

@@kevo300 It's all relative. Bows are super strong right now in Remnant. Besides Savior. It's the only bad bow in the game. Which is absurd considering it's a hardcore reward. So for a bow this gun is bad. Really bad. Is it better then some rifles? Yeah. It's not a rifle though
It’s wild watching multiple people releasing tier list and for everyone to have wildly different places for every weapon. I’m so use to seeing at least some consensus of the top half and bottom half of tier lists; but here in remnant, everyone is all over the place. Wild.

@@xvelest OhDough is an F tier list maker. He uses the same build for everything and only fights the Ravager. I've noticed most tier lists are surprisingly shallow for Remnant 2.

@@xvelest You are both commenting on multiple content creators. While looking up tier lists I came across him. So me, I did in relation to the conversation.
Most people hate doing math. This tier list is pretty accurate outside of some outlier. People hate spreadsheets for some reason but it gives you a very good baseline what to work with. Of course against a boss you have to factor in some variables.
I see people putting Sporebloom on S tier a lot, because it has one of the highest DPS on paper, but if you are not willing to make an entire build around one gun it drops to A tier fast.
A good gun should be top 5 on every spreadsheet but doesn't have to rely on so much equipment. That's the sweet spot.
Crescent moon is a great example. Easily on of the highest DPS on paper and works with basically any build. You need very little to make this gun work. Akari warband and Archers crest. That's it. Leaves you with everything else open.
Most people have no idea how this game actually works and don't have the skill to compensate for their lack of knowledge. TH-camrs included.

This guy makes little sense. He’s very inconsistent and will compliment one strong aspect of a weapon while sweeping its negatives under the rug. And then not even mention the strong aspects, or breezes by them as if they are nothing, on other weapons. Also blackmaw is great and crossbow OP.
Sagittarius mod just needs to follow the target you hit it with
Savior also has one rather big draw back. You have to play hardcore to unlock it. That means not a lot of people will ever see or use this thing

I love the Particle Accelerator from R1 but Starkiller definitely feels nerfed. Even on the higher difficulties, a headshot would kill a trash mob on Rhom. That's not the case on Apoc now. The real stealth nerf is what the did to that mod: I swear the blackhole projectile is much smaller. Given how many areas have tiny, highly mobile enemies (looking at you Losomn), nothing sucks more than shanking the shot and having the blackhole appear no where near the mobs. I'd make it have a bigger hitbox on shot, and make it pull a ton harder than it does with the gravity effect. That and make a single shot match the damage of a three round burst from the pulse rifle damage-wise, and at least it would be B tier.
That all being said, the synergy in multi with Firestorm is stupid: if boss is about to get out of firestorm, you can just suck them back in with the black hole. Sure, you're not the one doing the primary damage, but we're all here to kill the boss at the end of the day...
Nice vid, it was interesting hearing your opinions and evidence on the various guns. I agree with most of the rankings and your reasoning seems logical; I've been typewriter fan in FtA and 2 and the ranking is par for the course in my opinion. Now...
I'm gonna go into a tangent real quick so bear with me haha. In regards to the kinship comment at around minute 32... I heard in one of your other videos that you mostly play solo. In this case I would 100% agree with the "Because why would you?" sentiment as the only thing you have to worry about friendly firing is the dog, turrets, summons etc. (If you play those archetypes and mods). But man, there are some crazy shooters out there playing with random people haha. I mentioned this in another creator's video but, I like to focus melee when I play but, try to do so in a considerate manner: not running to my target in a straight line blocking my allies' shooting, prioritizing targets not being shot to avoid stagger out of gunfire and so others won't have to worry about friendly firing me, etc. But, even doing this there seems to be an ever-so-common occurrence of firestorms flying across an area to me from out of the ether or a fight ending with three purple lines going from an enigma spike on the ground to the three attached to me haha. In this case, kinship is absolutely required unless you are using a brokenly strong build or dump a few relic charges to keep alive. One tactic I might try is always facing my allies with the flashlight on when meleeing to make it very clear that I am over there.
Not only is kinship good for protecting you from, what I saw someone hilariously call the "Unga bunga" playstyle (a playstyle where one's only thought is speeding through content pumping out the highest dmg numbers as quick and long as possible), but, it is also good at protecting allies as well. I initially thought the dmg reduction to friendly fire you deal was not necessary as I thought such friendly fire was easily avoidable by investing a minimal amount of thought to the position of your allies and where you think they are going to go. However, even then some people manage to end up in my line of fire. If I go to shoot and my allies are right behind me I'll instantly crouch and fire, or dodge to the side and fire so they can get in on the action; but, if I had a timepiece for every time someone still ended up in my line of fire I could legitimately be part of the lore of the lemark district. One time this exact thing happened while I had burning rounds on and the guy stopped near instantly and stared at me while the fire dot was going on. Now I can only guess what he was thinking but, judging from the circumstances he was not happy. I was like "Man, I've gone above and beyond with all the considerations and you still walked in front of me. What do you want?" haha. I wouldn't chalk this up to latency as I am usually halfway through a typewriter clip when this happens.
In summary, agreed that kinship is not needed in solo, but in group play it is a BIG QoL improvement. Realistically could I just play solo and/or not worry about all these considerations? Absolutely. But hey, I think it is more fun enjoying the game with other people, all the considerations don't take much effort and, I think, they go a long way to help others enjoy the game too whether they be recognized or not.
Merciless feels WAY better with twisted rounds and the ravager amulet
Alpha/Omega is great for mod spam because it's cheap and deals a lot of damage with Archon mod spam, but you have to give up using it as a gun. The Pulse Rifle is a better burst shot rifle, and Deceit is a better charged rifle. As a gun it's just okay, but has the same crippling problem a lot of guns in Remnant 2 has...long, painfully long reload times.
What does the Blackmaw do over the Typewriter? Faster reloads, consistency, greater accuracy at range, overall general use is better. The typewriter is one of the fastest firing long guns but has a reload that's almost as bad as the Bonesaw, with absolutely terrible bullet damage with the fire rate to make up the difference. Against bosses with thick skin, this hurts the typewriter more then the Blackmaw.
I’ve been bothered by the fact you are so incentivized into stacking one damage type. This is made worse by the fact there are mods like corrosive rounds or crescent that are don’t rely on mod damage and just enhance ranged. Maybe a ring that turns 75 percent of ranged damage scaling into mod scaling but that still wouldn’t solve the problems from your hugs video regarding fire rate and weak-spot scaling. It’s a shame this game is often more fun at lower difficulties because you can use mods and skills to do damage instead of it being right click simulator.
Sagittarius as it stands is a tragedy, the most disappointing gulf between concept and execution I've run across in R2.
Bonesaw is fun and busted, I used it and the wrangler the most and had a blast

Ok I was testing the Chicago Typewriter against the Bonesaw extensively now. Of course on apocalypse like it should be. Standard HUGS set up, nothing fancy.
I tried Bonesaw with and without microcompensator. No I definitely disagree here, you really need this ring. But that was the only major difference.
Typewriter and Bonesaw perform so similar it's uncanny sometimes. Against trash mobs I think bonesaw has the upper hand. Just feels more consistent. But against bosses? Barely any difference. Like its so minor you cannot really feel it. At least in my opinion. I think the Bonesaw performs slightly better. But that's really it. The overheat is just to annoying to deal with in my opinion and it takes away a ring slot. I have to give it to the typewriter. Close call but its just better.

I put a bunch into weapon spread, fire rate and range and turned the bulldog into damn near a sniper its crazy good
i disagree with merci .. yes you can build a crit build around it but don't .. if you do straight physical dmg builds the bleed and dmg of this gun go way up and have gotten me through almost all the bosses on just about all difficulties so far
I’ve had a lot of fun but always wished it had bleed on it. Or more like the one from Ashes with five bolts fired. That was so much more satisfying. I like it because it’s fun to play with but could be much better. Especially since it’s the only one in the game I hope it gets some love or another option becomes available in DLC. Also, considering I really hope they bring back Corsus…
Crossbow being reworked into basically just devastator from rfta sounds like a super cheap and easy way to make it good, but god DAMN i would love it if this happened. Slayer Devastator was my absolute favorite way to play the game in rfta, and I would love to see it come back somehow. Or maybe they could just bring back devastator as some kind of difficulty or new content reward and give crossbow its own unique thing, like a built in damage bonus against enemies not targeting the player, or maybe they could give it a Gears of War/Warframe Sirocco style reload QTE that would empower your next shot or make reloading it faster.
I've been pushing through my first playthrough on veteran with the 1860 Lever Action and I suddenly worry that I've been handicapping myself.
On veteran you can take anything to the end. Actually you can do apoc without guns if you know what you’re doing. Just make sure you know how to make a build.
There are always better options. But do what you like at first. And if you get really stuck just look up tank build and nothing on vet can kill you.

Id say that Alpha Omega is S tier, with the right build. (explosion one) focusing only on mod with a mod swamp regen build you can stack up 3 mod shots on boss and then swamp to 2nd weapon for big explosion (secondary being, any weapon you can use the missibles mods) and see crit/burn/red numbers fly away. SAME with Aphelion.
You did savior dirty tho. Use singed ring with it and it gets flat 10% boost to all damage when you have the mod active. Weapon mod charges pretty fast and also its perfect charged shots pierce through enemies with no damage reduction. I would suggest making better analyzes next time you are attempting to do a tier list.

Everytime i see Blackmaw mentioned it goes up a tier.
I do think, Twisted Arbalest need an upgraded, not for the big build with bore we know. but for the disc itself, I do like the weapon if you could shoot at least x2 disc per bullet even if they go ricochet, cuz the only use for this weapon rn is the bore build, nothing more imo. This weapon have so much potential.
Dudes trippin about Merciless, slap on Twisting Wounds and it wrecks. Doesn't really need it, just makes it slap.

Saviour being anything but an S tier is crazy, once the mod shenanigans is fixed its the highest reliable DPS in the game

Love's the Bonesaw, but doesn't like the Wrangler because of the reload speed. Has them back to back in the list though.

@@kevo300 that one too. But that aphelion mod kept nuking me it was so bad lol if I was in the same room as the enemy I was in the danger zone
whoever using blackhole and firestorm is the one responsible to put points into kinship, not you.
or at least that's what i did whenever i feel like spec into using those two mods spam build.

Was literally searching for this video yesterday lol. Having done apocalypse and now hardcore up to root earth I've gotta say my favorite's are The Bonesaw, Pulse rifle, and the blackmaw. Nightfall was effextive but i just don't like the style and reloading most weapons makes me physically ill lol
What makes overflow and corrosive shot so good? But also, why isnt hotshot included there? Is it not the same but just fire damage?
You might want to read what those ammo mods actually do. Hot shot gives 15% more long gun damage. Meh. Corrosive rounds give a 15% higher crit chance. Excellent. Crits are multiplicative damage while hot shot is just additive. Overflow increases fire rate by 15%. Also multiplicative.
Everything in this game that is multiplicative is far superior to a flat out damage bonus that is additive.
@@requiemagent3014 Just also adding onto your statement for OP, the corrosive debuff makes enemies take 10% more damage, and overflow's reload buff is good on smaller clip sized weapons.
