How you have grey beards n hairs and don't know this greatest of shows on intimate levels. This show and Archie, Fred and Chico were pure gold!! Love to All in 24
At the end of the seventh season of The Jeffersons Florence got the chances of a spin off show called "Checking In" as the head of housekeeping at a local hotel. The show didn't get high enough rating and only lasted four episodes. At the beginning of the eighth season, she was back to working for the Jeffersons without any explanation.
If Checking in had been successful , we would've not had 227 so it was good in a way. Marla Gibbs was able to play a different character wife, mother, Mary Jenkins with the same sass as Florence.
Jeffersons theme song was co-written and performed by Ja'net DuBois... who also starred as Willona on Good Times!! Here's something wild... both actors who portrayed Lionel both had the same last name of Evans...and were both born in November 1949. Mike Evans, who first played Lionel on All In The Family and season 1 and 6-8 of The Jeffersons was also co-creator and writer of Good Times.
Loved this show I remember my mom watched this and she watched Archie bunker and also Good times I was brought up on all of the best shows thanks for this one ❤❤❤
I'm A White Dude That Grew Up In The 70s In Pittsburgh Pa. Watching .. All In The Family .. The Jefferson's .. Good Times & Sanford & Son .. They Were The Top Comedy Shows On TV .. Everyone I Knew It .. Everyone In School & In All The Different Neighborhoods Watched & Enjoyed All These Shows .. No One Every Got Upset About It Or Complained Saying They Were Racist Shows .. In My Area Where I Grew Up We All Got Along .. There Were Times Things Would Happen That Wasn't Right .. But Everytime It Happened .. It Was Because Of Trouble Makers On All Sides Starting The Problem But Those That Were Koool With Each Other Stood Together & Ended It Real Quick .. Unfortunately Alot Areas Around The Country Didn't Handle It The Same Way .. Especially In Many Of The Major Cities .. But Still Things Were Different Then & We All Got Along 99% Of The Time .. We Went Clubbing With Each Other .. Played Sports & Even Had Outings Like We Were Family .. Growing Up For Me Was The Best Of Times .. The Episodes Of All In The Family You Should Watch Are The Ones When Archie & George Jefferson Went Head To Head With Each Other .. Those Were Hilarious & The First Seasons Of The Jefferson When Lionel Was Dating A Girl That Had Biracial Parents .. All These TV Shows Would Insult All The Races In Some Way Or Another & Believe It Or Not That's What Made These Shows # 1 .. Til This Day They're The Best .. But The Country Today Is To Sensitive .. But They All Love The Music That's Considered Offensive To Women & Others .. So If This Is What's Out There As Entertainment .. Who's To Say That All In The Family .. The Jefferson's & All The Other Shows From That Era Are Offensive .. Everyone Needs To Step Back & Take A Look At Themselves Before They Censor What Other's Feel Is Enjoyable Entertainment 😊
All in the Family had tons of spin offs The Jeffersons, Maude, Archie Bunkers place, Gloria. Also Good Times was a spin off of Maude so it to has ties to All in the Family.
This was great, I grew up loving this show when it first aired! You mentioned, Good Times, which was is also a classic. But you didn't mention one of my favorite '70s shows, What's Happening, with Roger, his sarcastic sister, Dee, and his two friends, one of which was a hilarious fat kid name, Rerun. Did you fellas get that in syndication when you were growin' up in the '80s?
@@Cosmo-Kramer She was a riot. I think her comedic timing and sass was impressive for an actress so young. I was the kid sister in my house and would have loved having a little bit of Dee's fire in me.

The Jeffersons is one of the longest running sitcoms, but CBS disrespected the by not giving them a final episode.
Marla Gibbs made a few appearances on the DL Highley show too. In addition, she did a movie with Snoop Dogg a few years ago.
Sherman Hemsley as George Jefferson was the King of 70's cool and The Fonz his valet.

Actually, there was an explanation. She came back because the hotel she worked for burned down.
What's the difference, they already switched Lionels twice on us by then! 😀😀😀

George had great respect for Florence because she didn't take nothing off anyone, including him. He mentions this in one episode.
Awesome video.
He didn't get along with anyone! 🤣
Oh when I was a kid I loved watching that show. Flo used to get the best of George and we giggled lol.

Loved What's Happening. Rerun was adorable in his suspenders and buree. And had such a crush on Dwayne (Haywood Nelson) when I was a little girl.
