    Been with Krita since 2016. Scolding it, hating it, using it. But never even once considered getting back to Photoshop. I encourage every artist to participate in this community and back it with a buck - as much as you can. The guys are doing a great job.

    finally, you can transform multiple layer without grouping, this is a big news.
    and also that you can select a specific layer below your mouse is a gamechanger,
    no more finding layer & folder one by one just to change one thing.
    this alone will makes the workflow so much faster.
    Respect for the hardworking Krita Developers.
    Krita 5.1 was amazing, and now with 5.2 it made Krita even better.

    • @wojtryb
      @wojtryb  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think that this transform multiple layers was one of the most requested features on krita-artists. It's great it's finally there!

      @@wojtryb yes, although Grouping method was not bad either after i get used to it,
      it made me more aware about the layer management and be more effective with it.
      something that i never managed to learnt in my photoshop days.
      i could understand why the dev use this "Grouping" method
      and now with this new addition, i think i can optimize my workflow even further.
      i'm so happy

    As a android krita user its so goog to know that krita will come with ffmpeg embeded, currently theres no way to export mp4 directly from android. I was vibing so much when you showed the new improvements in text, can't wait to use this features in the future.

      Yes, I believe, that you should finally be able to export videos on Android - I think that was the main goal behind this change.

    those features on the layer dockers and the new way to transfrom multiple layers may seem small, but it is actually huge! especially the crop of the layer thumbnail, and the display of the layer effect. Not to mention the option to select layers bellow the mouse, again this seems small feature and not very shiny but its just GODSENT and something that will be used all the damn time as a workflow.

    Idk if I'm just not checking, but they should have someone to communicate what they're working on more, even just a little. Their plans or anything they can. It'll help keep confidence in the Krita. I'm even more invested than the average person, and I'm still worried sometimes if Krita will stop updating because lack of developers. I love Krita though and know all of its potential. I compare it to Blender just for possible logistics. I love your art btw. I'd looooove more tutorials. Even a live painting session. Or even speedpaintings! 🥰 Thank you for everything you do too, btw

    • @wojtryb
      @wojtryb  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, there is not that much official communication - the entire team is just developers, and there are not that many people who would like to be a spokesperson I believe. And that's not what the team can really afford.
      I'm glad you like my art :)

    Krita's text tool is most trash feature ever, even the paint can do better job than krita. How on earth basic feature blows so hard? Instead writing directly into canvas it opens some weird tab only then it is possible to type something in. So complicated.

    • @wojtryb
      @wojtryb  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's being worked on - I guess you can use paint by that time :)

  • @Ro-jl6cs
    @Ro-jl6cs ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like the changes they make... but I feel that every time they saturate more and more the program, specially the interface, making it look more saturated and in my opinion... it looks horrible. I know it is very linked to the philosophy of kde, but I feel that the program would be better if it was more minimalist in terms of their interfaces, something like gnome for example: simple, direct, without to much information or unnecesary things. just open the program and start drawing directly instead of having to first re-arrange everything so that it is not so intrusive in your workspace or figure out what everything is for.
    I feel that this has also influenced the program to this day is not as used as for example paint tool sai or CSP.

    • @wojtryb
      @wojtryb  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In this release the only change to the interface visible by default are the checkboxes, that can be switched off in seconds.
      More hidden things like dockers were in fact simplified a quite a lot.
      In the past years krita only became easier to navigate in canvas-only mode and there was some work that made the interface slightly more modern.

    Was excited for a sec for the color selector portion, but oh well.
    I just hope we'll have a normal triangular color selector at some point (with darks on the bottom, lights on top and saturation to the right side). Or have someone's plugin that already does that as part of the core release (as the plugin's installment process is convoluted).

    • @wojtryb
      @wojtryb  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are already quite a few selector shapes to choose from.
      You can always request a new shape or other improvements, but the team is small, and things like that are not requested by the majority of people, so it may take ages, or never happen - you don't know unless you try though

    • @nervoussuffermaker
      @nervoussuffermaker ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wojtryb Yeah, but that's kinda the problem. As I looked through the forum there were several people that talked about it and at the time the devs didn't know how to implement triangles right or something, and as the time went buy someone made a plugin so the right triangle is even lower on the priority list, because you can now just be sent to install the plugin. Kinda similar with the Eraser functionality - yeah, it might be not perfect, but there's a plugin/script for that, and so on.
      Understandable ofc, as this is a free open source program, but the whole script managing plugin installing thing is a bit convoluted for regular people and I just hope some of that funcionality eventually makes it into the core so there's no fiddling and it just works.
      I'll make another thread in the feature request category tho.

    • @nervoussuffermaker
      @nervoussuffermaker ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, that diamond shape in the new wide gamut color selector has the right arrangement and might prove more useful that the triangle (as it has more space for color picking), will need to test it out!
      And after looking more on the forums, the person working on the docker said they will add the regular triangle later on as well. So all good!
