Good to know they’ve improved the ride comfort in the comfort setting - this is my only gripe with my 2018 E63S, but I’m really sad to see they’ve removed the IWC clock in the new car
I have the 2019 one in the selenite gray magno. This car is so so soooooo worth it! Everytime I get in it, I get a smile on my face even before turning on the engine.
It should be a crime against humanity to have a black interior with a blue like that. Gotta love AMG V8s, it feels like everything is right in the world when you hear them growl and feel the earth shake beneath you. As always, excellent work, M.
Magno paints look cool but they are a nightmare to live with. It’s almost impossible to respray a panel and match the color and texture of the matt finish to the existing paint. My son had a bunch of dings on a number of panels in his Magno grey GLA 45 and I had to repaint the whole car.
I'm curious about the one main thing that people complained about the pre-facelift: the ride quality. It seems like most modern AMGs are sacrificing comfort in the suspension setup for more dynamism. It's almost as if they don't realize that people buy these to commute to work with bad roads, rather than taking them to the track. AMG claims that they've addressed the comfort in the facelift, but some people like Shmee are saying it's still too harsh for anything other than perfectly smooth Autobahn. Would love to know your thoughts!
Funny you bring this up, because that is one of the segments that ended up on the cutting room floor. The good news: Ride quality varies more in this car than others with very intricate air ride adjustable dampers. Meaning, comfort mode is something that would approximate the ride quality of a standard Mercedes. Alternatively in Race mode, it exceeds the driving dynamics of an M5. So net net, the spectrum variation is greater in this update. Now, what I didn't include in this episode is one of the finer details: The bushings have been changed in this refresh from the 2020.
Interesting they don’t offer the conventional metallic brilliant blue paint, only in matte magno. Definitely need to PPF the magno...in a matte PPF haha. Great car - as soon as we get pricing in Canada I believe I’ll put my order in and return to the AMG family :)
My two big problems with the E class are the horrible noise on full lock when parking from the front 4x4 axel and with a 6ft driver a 6ft rear passenger can’t get their feet under the seat without the drivers head being on the ceiling
I built a working business relationship with Brian a few months ago and I must say he's smart. He typically grew my funds by 64% in less than three weeks. Whenever I check my portfolio, I smile because it’s always booming, all thanks to Brian
There's no doubt Brian is a phenomenal hedge fund manager. I met him at an event in Netherlands and ever since then I've had no regrets working with him.
Decided to class up the studio a bit for one of my favorites . . . First, threw the blue plane out to make more room for this car. And second, as you noticed, wore real shoes for you guys. Those are suede Tod's.
Another superb review sir. I totally agree with you on the steering wheel. I must say , that is the best looking mat finish paint I have seen. I usually do not care for mat finish. It’s the blue lol.
Could we please have a “talk” on all these low profile tires? Including those that are run flat tires? All these cars are very nice, but unless your roads are smooth as hummingbird wings, where can one drive them, in the real world? My 7, 550i and S560 have all had wheel/tire issues due to the low ROF tires. No, I’m not a bad driver. I see all these nice cars, but the tires they’re fitted with, make for less than a comfortable ride.
Matte paint is both expensive and a nightmare to take care of and you will at some point need to repaint the entire car if you keep it for a long period. It does look cool though.
Nah its not that bad to maintain. You just have to be a bit more careful when washing it. The only issue is if someone scratches it you can‘t repaint it easily, but always have to repaint the whole panel.
lol what clutch will handle the torque? Also, what type of customer base will MB sell to if it had a clutch? While I am all for manuals, that time has come and gone.
While I would LOVE to have a manual in a car like this . . . just don't see it happening for the usual reason: Money. Here's a good comp: Cadillac offered the last gen CTS-V with a manual - which was magnificent. However, they only sold 499. Not one year. ALL years. There's your smoking gun . . . Would love for it to be different.
Agree. It can be as powerful and ... unfortunately heavy as they want, but with out a manual option i will be taking my business elsewhere. Luckily we still have a few options out there.
These screens aren't dangerous like the tesla and the new big screens in the mercedes. You can easily watch the road and touch the screen for your selections. The TESLA is the most unsafe car on the road since you can't do anything without the screen, even see your speed or turn on the wipers, it shouldn't even be legal.
Couldn't agree more with the observation about capacitive touch versus real buttons. I refuse to buy a car with disastrous multi-touch/multi-step inputs to access and make simple changes. Tesla did this as a fad and to save money and the rest of these morons have all gone that way. It is a mistake, much like total electrification is a mistake. People, either don't know or they just don't understand the issues with change for change sake. Good explanation of the issue. Of course, if I was in the interface design group I would be re-designing everything I could to show value but that does not mean it is better. It is ironic you need a down market brand or trim to get real buttons anymore. Give us analogue knobs and buttons!
