Be sure to use safety glasses and chemical gloves when messing with muriatic acid. Also choose a well ventilated area outdoors and have your neutralizer on deck and ready beforehand.
A few things I've learned about muriatic acid:
Do not mix muriatic acid with other chemicals!
Do not submerge aluminum in muriatic acid, can be explosive!
Do not submerge bakelite lids or conch shells in muriatic acid, they will be destroyed.
