Roope is awesome. He plays the guitar so smooth like if it was only a toy. He makes it look so simple
Roopes' tone is fucking bone crushing.
Alexi's sounds a lot more bone crushing if you listen to them separately toward the end of the video.
Alcohol destroyed Roope, who lost his immense abilities and went into depression. Now we have lost Alexi to god knows what... really sad
@showbizonastick I think it was something more extreme than alcohol. Alexi suffered from a very serious illness, maybe cancer, autoimmune disease etc
Well roope is getting back into music as it seems. Rumor has it he has a bunch of new stuff
@@KevinGsWK That is good to hear. I have been worried about Roope ever since he was kicked out of Bodom
where did you read about Roope, his adict to alcohool and the reason why he fell into depressiion?
@@WillVRam Think I read an interview with him and he said that he went into depression because he was kicked out of COB unexpectedly and he was extremely upset over it. The drinking probably contributed to it as well. I think he also said that he had even stopped playing guitar because of his depression.
Alexi: And this is blooddrunk
Roope: Ja
Hahaha, yep that was funny :D
guess Rope says: "Well" haha
Lucas Still I think he is saying: "Yeah"
+Axu +__+ 'Ja' is the same as "Yeah" or "Yea"
+Gary Loudermilk you mean "Ya" ?
R.I.P. Alexi
You're a legend and always will be.
Roope’s tone is just absolutely neck-breaking 🤌
i love how roope always looks so mysterious and a bit nervous hahaha he is truelly one of a kind !! , Cob kicks ass !!
It simply doesn't get better than this. Metal will never know guitar playing quite like this again. RIP Alexi, and thank you for all the memories and inspiration that you provide even past your death.
Alexi seems so Americanized. Like he has the perfect accent and everything whereas Roope is the opposite. Just the typical little Finlander :P
true, but hes singer and writer, if you do that you learn the language better than someone else who only learned english in school.
I suppose!
*Viking
Plus he now lives in LA
ItzDevinHD
He's had a place in California for years. Probably mostly to store some things & temporarily live when touring the Americas &/or traveling over to Asia.
The amount of times I watched this when it came out!! I'm so happy it has resurfaced as a suggestion.
This song is one of the best! So many harmonies
Gonna miss heaviness like this!
I still Find it Awesome how a Guitarist from a Band Alexi listened/looked up to & Idolized growing up is Now in His Band!!!!!!
oh the enthusiasm!! still amazing how much chemistry Roope and Alexi have together when even doing a demo though
"It's Alexi here"
"haand hiym Rhopay"
RIP Alexi!
This is my favorite COB song, and my favorite COB of all, mostly because Alexi looks and sounds absolutely toasted.
Same thing that killed him.
Roope's tone is amazing...
He's just waiting for Alexi to finish playing so he can rip out his stuff
Roope: No no... This is how it's played...
He... The masters crafter of Twilights of the Thunder God solos. Bows before hims.
What?
Roope Latvala had a guess appearance on the song Twilight of the Thunder God with Amon Amarth. It's a pretty wicked solo.
Skwisgaar Skwigelf i wonder when we will hear more from him
Roope and Skwisgaar are the only two guitarists with black frets...

I remember watching this video 10 years ago at a computer shop with very slow internet connection over and over again just to try to learn this song. I can only watched at 240p coz of slow connection. Now you are gone my idol. 😔😔
They were definitely drunk while making this, and not on blood
Nice profile pic
"and this is blooddrunk."
"....yeah"
roope always cracks me up XD
its one of the best riffs that i've heard in a loooooong time! love CoB
Damn I miss Roope. Daniel is great, but he doesn't have the personality and style that Roope had.
Daniel fit way better with Bodom, as can be heard on Hexed. Now I wanna hear Bodom After Midnight.
Alexi (Hungover): "Hey it's Alexi here"
Roope (Hungover): "And I'm Roo-beh"
Alexi: "We're playin' Children of Bodom, and this is Blooddrunk"
Roope: "Dyeah..."
Gotta love them xD
Almost a Metalocalypse scene in the beginning.
Such a great talented band
1:54 love that inverted cross design on the fretboard!
They have perfect synchronicity
Best lesson I've ever seen, Alexi is totally stoned off his face and still nails it.
Rest In Power, Wild Child
@averadeyoe agreeing with werner, its a pinch harmonic. and its made by "pinching" the string where u play it. pinching is just hitting the string with ur thumb at almost the same time as the pick. u can get several harmonics off of the same note depending on where u pinch the string. every guitar is different too. hope this helps
the pure gtuitar sound here is better than on record , great great sound and tight playing
2:15 so simple xD yeah roope its so simple :)
alexi and roope are the best combonation of musicins on the earth their like pb and j you just cant beat the best of the best
Apparently the Finnish don't believe in neck pickups.
Illegal in their country
They make neck pups ? lol
Name 2 parts of a guitar waste of time and money. TONEknob. NECK pup. Doubt me ?EVH made it known
In my teens made a guitar like Edward 1980 1 pup. Will never change unless. A wolf or Lp PRS. Nothing else. UNLESS SHES PRETTY. PLAY THE FKN THING
Neck pickup? Whats that? Can i eat it?
What a tone!
They look stoned as hell, but fu**in rock though
@Lentsku It's a pinch harmonic... You simply just hit the string 50% with your pick, and the other 50% is with your thumb. it's the lightest touch, takes a few tries to get the hang of it, try searching around for how to do one.
@thatcoolG
Roope uses the spec edition engl pre-amp with a 2/90/2 thru an Engl straight cab. Also an alesis quadraverb, RSP 2400 and some wireless system
Alexi uses a lee jackson pre amp, Vht 2/50/2, rocktron intelliflex and RSP 2400. Along with a wireless system.
Although i believe the power amps change from time to time. I know alexi experimented HCDR era.
That pitch at the end from roope was beast.
What amp is Roope using here? Reminds me of my MarkIV cranked up.
That lead is catchy as hell. Like all their leads.
@thatcoolG Roope has his own Custom version of the ESP Random Star and uses ENGL amps with Marshall cabinets. Alexi has his own ESP Signature model and a Marshall amp setup (with the necesary effects like delay, enhancers for both)
Roope is a legend
alexi just seemed like he really didnt want to be there
i think he is just hungover...
scott schneider yeah thats probably it
What guitar is that star shaped explorer? It looks very very cool, very badass, and I love the single humbucker with banana neck.
I really like Roope's guitar, is that a Hamer?
@Blakeb714 Actually he DOES. But not live. He uses a Krank for studio purposes. Matt Hyde introduced him to some variations with the Krank. He still sticks with his Marshall+Lee Jackson duo on stage though.
Why do i have the feeling that this sounds better than on album
one of my all time favorite riffs to play :D
i like this sound you can really chill if you are in a bad mood
I ordered Alexi's signature guitar a week ago, can't fucking wait till it comes
@mgdth502 where can you get one?? and how much is it?
Only 3 grand overseas.
I got mine for $1300 used from the US.
Cost $200 shipping and payed $150 for a set-up.
It's practically new, the action's orgasmic, and it came with a case and locking straps.
If you look, you can get some really good deals online.
Carpet man and his Black Metal guitar... Miss him and his magic Carpet rides...
@ripcliffburtonrip
Top 3 Strings - Open, G String - 2nd Fret, B String - 3rd Fret, High E - 5th Fret. I know in standard it's a variation of D so in the tuning it would be a variation of C... not very good with theory so I couldn't tell you the exact name.
Alexi's is his ESP Custom Alexi-600, and Roope's is his ESP Custom RL - 600
@Death66reaper6 ok, then how are you supposed to pronounce roope?
i love roope's signature guitar
Great tone!
What More can We Say...... AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
@TheRajaskel man...you from Finland and dont know about it?
@Lentsku you mean the pinch harmonic?
@JimmyJimmyJaymz I met them last year in San Francisco. Alexi pronounced his name "Rope-ah" He kind of rolled the R as well.
what effect are they used??
are flying V's hard to play sitting down?
What amp is Roope using here?
I want Roope's guitar
@quni11 its an old model of his 600 series.. they dont show it on the website anymore..
Is that the Chorus effect pedal I hear??
lol 0:32 roope was smilling at the cameraman or whoever the hell it is. the way he smiled is like telling the guy.... "yeap .... thats alexi for ya " or " sorry but alexi is a bit fucked today...." ....i was laughing my ass off .... these guys are super cool
"hi this is Alexi"
"duhduh rooobbe"
xDD so awesome guys
Roope's guitar is awesome! Anybody know that guitar is?
Best guitar lesson ever!!!
Seriously though, the only thing Alexi told us was drop c tuning. After that he was like
Bitch you better know how to play. lol these guys are great.
fucking great tone. i love alexi and roope
@locohellraiser true but if you know what it is but you dont have a tuner and you can´t tune by ear its pretty handy
sexy guitars i think so :P do they use the same rigs?
@Craydon its the intro to Blooddrunk
The 2 best guitarist of the world
@EsoterikSurgery Makes me chuckle every time.
those of you is very awesome keep up the good work guys..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@str8tballa not at all, I have an ESP SV which has the exact same shape as Alexi's guitar and it's suprisingly comfortable!
Didn't like this 'til 0:52 What's the name for what alexi starts playing at that point?
@Stormlegionner its because they dont use the keyboards over the guitar, so you can hear the awsome guitar solo;-)
Wich is the roopes guitar brand?
ESP
They're hammered, and still cleaner than I could dream of being. Fuckin dudes.
i love their sound..anyone know what kind of rig they got goin?
@vbdude006. Screaming was an acquired taste for me. I hated it at first, but eventually didn't mind it, now I love it. Just keep listening to it and you'll get used to it.
@HurricaneTBag ever played flying V guitar? it seems not.
alexis frets are so clean and shinny
how you can make that sound at 2:13?
RIP LEGEND
Roopes tone is so sick
you just gotta love Roppe :)
for those trying to learn this and wanna jump to parts - 0:43 intro/verse 1:42 verse slow upper harmony 1:54 verse slow lower harmony
roopes jacksons were fuckin mint
Those are alexi and roope right??
That was the clearest ive ever heard Alexi say "Children of bodom" usually its a "chillum bodem" and i bet he's drunk here too. :D
love roopes enlays
Do y'all have any advice for someone starting a death metal or thrash metal band?
dont scoop out all your mids, dont get emg pickups, and dont get a floyd rose if youre not going to use it.
+Hoshi Hearts Perfect advice!
+Hoshi Hearts perfect
+Hoshi Hearts i have all those lmaoo
+Dalton Beisenbach Play in tune and play in time. Then you'll at least going to sound semi pro.
this is awesome!!
I have an LTD Alexi 600 signed by all the guys in children of bodom. Life is good \m/
@nvm0 i don't think it's that he's shy, he hasn't really mastered english as well as alexi.
