They actually start to understand you more and more if you talk to them like they do understand you. As long as it is around concepts they can grasp. I did it with mine. He understood a great deal of what we talked to him about. Like for example if one of the family members would travel away for a while. If we did not talk to him about it and explained what would happen, he would always be very anxious and walk around calling out for them until they came back. But as long as we told him what would happen, he was totally fine and relaxed even if they was gone for a couple of weeks. And it really mattered if he was told about it before it happened, if they already was gone because we forgot to talk to him about it, it did not work nearly as good. It needed to be the person who would go away telling him that they would be going away. I even managed to joke with him a couple of times and I saw him laugh. When a cat laugh they do it kind of like a chuckle how we do it. By suddenly push short bursts of air out of your nose audibly a bunch of times and rocking you head/neck with the motion of the fast breathing out. What he always found really funny was when I was talking about something with him and then there was a sudden loud noise from outside. And if I joked about what I thought it was and if I said something that was totally wrong, he would find it so silly he laughed at me for being so wrong when I admitted I was way off. Like if a loud car or excavator was going past our house and he reacted strongly to the sudden noise, he really did not like those kind of noises. And if I said to him did you hear how loud that bird was? He would just chuckle at me when I admitted, no of course not it was a just car how stupid of me. Cat humor is weird, but crazy cute. I could never figure out how to get him laughing without that external sudden noise, so I could never plan to do it though. Cat's and animals in general understand far more than most give them credit for.

For real! My roommate has three cats and I have two…and they are all very different. Especially the ginger cat 🐈! He doesn’t want anything to do with the others. Loves me. Tolerates my roommate. And that’s it…he will run and hide when he sees any of the other cats!

They DO understand a lot ! They just ACT like they don't or they aren't listening. Humans have so under-estimated just how intelligent cats REALLY are. My last cat obeyed at least a dozen commands that I taught her ; I walked her on a harness/leash ; She was braver than most dogs I've known. I had planned on video-taping and posting it online, after I was done with surgical-procedures being done on my spine. Sadly, she suffered complications from an injury that ended her 9th-Life way too soon 😢. My next cat may be my last , but this time I WILL record EVERYTHING and share it with Everyone. I know when my time comes , She will be the first one bounding to greet me alongside the Rainbow Bridge , followed by ALL the pets I've had throughout my life (as well as the WILD animals and birds that I have rescued !) Cherish your pets now , today, bc we NEVER KNOW how long they will be with us .. 😘 😺🐈💕

They actually start to understand you more and more if you talk to them like they do understand you.
As long as it is around concepts they can grasp.
I did it with mine.
He understood a great deal of what we talked to him about.
Like for example if one of the family members would travel away for a while. If we did not talk to him about it and explained what would happen, he would always be very anxious and walk around calling out for them until they came back.
But as long as we told him what would happen, he was totally fine and relaxed even if they was gone for a couple of weeks.
And it really mattered if he was told about it before it happened, if they already was gone because we forgot to talk to him about it, it did not work nearly as good. It needed to be the person who would go away telling him that they would be going away.
I even managed to joke with him a couple of times and I saw him laugh.
When a cat laugh they do it kind of like a chuckle how we do it.
By suddenly push short bursts of air out of your nose audibly a bunch of times and rocking you head/neck with the motion of the fast breathing out.
What he always found really funny was when I was talking about something with him and then there was a sudden loud noise from outside.
And if I joked about what I thought it was and if I said something that was totally wrong, he would find it so silly he laughed at me for being so wrong when I admitted I was way off.
Like if a loud car or excavator was going past our house and he reacted strongly to the sudden noise, he really did not like those kind of noises.
And if I said to him did you hear how loud that bird was? He would just chuckle at me when I admitted, no of course not it was a just car how stupid of me.
Cat humor is weird, but crazy cute.
I could never figure out how to get him laughing without that external sudden noise, so I could never plan to do it though.
Cat's and animals in general understand far more than most give them credit for.

I had a gray tabby cat for 2 years. She was cute and likes cuddle with me. She was lost last month. There is also an orange street cat always wandering in our neighborhood. So i prove this story is true
