The reason why a small chieftain, Bakhtiar khilji, could destroy Nalanda, was not just his cruelty or anti Hindu feeling. Remember the monks (who were actually teachers and research scientists) were left defenseless, like today. The vast armies were busy protecting, entertaining and saving the nobles, dancers, singers and, writers. Obviously , the invaders took away what they understood and what appealed to them (example technology of steel -- later known as Damascus steel ). They destroyed what they didn't understand--in the garb of religion. Sir, the "villains of Nalanda" are actually the kings, zamindars and army commanders who left Nalanda, it's teachers, scientists and students at the mercy of invading armies. Very educative. I do research on how and why Buddhism disappeared from Bihar. I realized it never disappeared. The people are simply looking at the wrong spot. For example the Nalanda Sangaram. Unfortunately this is a big mistake by historians all over the world and our country. There wasn't any place called Nalanda. It was Nulej. The above video also mentions the name was Nalo and not Nalanda. Nulej was the name of a sadhu who lived on the lake where the first ashram was made. Nalanda had 16 villages or ashrams. It was twenty five sq km in size with a boundary wall and a southern gate which is a village called Kewri which simply means doorway. Proof of Nalanda as the place visited by Xuan zang is the Sangarama should have an eighty foot high bronze Buddha statue and a 100 sq ft bronze unfinished sangaram. Cunningham tried his best to search for the statue and bronze sangarama. But failed because he was searching in the wrong spot. He was searching in Odantpura which he failed to realize. What you are showing is Odantpura and not Nalanda. fa Hein calls the great sangaram Nule. Fa Hein was correct. Whoever reads this reply, please view the video, 'Nalanda sangaramma in it's entirety. I studied Aryabhatta 's writings. He gave one verse= shloka about his achievements, greatest mathematical puzzle. According to that Aryabhatta was kulap, vice-chancellor. He lived around 2 century AD. Nalanda University was earlier Hindu University= Brahma school. Later became Buddhist University. Those were the days, Buddhism dominated. Did all bad Karma. So resulted in such scene of destruction. Bad karma resulted in the end of the story. Don't go against Sanatana Dharma.

I have there and trust me feel of that place is different....its huge and red bricks still look fresh ....and it had separate chambers for students to study separately like mini library....reflective stones are used to study when sun is setting

I studied Aryabhatta 's writings.
He gave one verse= shloka about his achievements, greatest mathematical puzzle. According to that Aryabhatta was kulap, vice-chancellor. He lived around 2 century AD. Nalanda University was earlier Hindu University= Brahma school.
Later became Buddhist University.
Those were the days, Buddhism dominated. Did all bad Karma.
So resulted in such scene of destruction.
Bad karma resulted in the end of the story.
Don't go against Sanatana Dharma.
