  • It's three-quarters Jumper T18 and one quarter RadioMaster TX16S so does that make it better or worse than either? Watch the review and find out whether the RadioKing TX18S might be the best radio for you.

    TOUCHSCREEN - Hello Sir Bruce!
    You can test the touchscreen by going in to - SYS (Radio menu) - Hardware page - (scroll down to ) Debug (Analog) - and you can test by touching the screen - coordinates should appear along with small "x" symbol ..
    Although it won't be implemented before OTX 2.4 - you can test if it is touchscreen indeed this way ..
    ("screen protector" (ha,ha - that was fun one..) - could affect this - but on mine TX16S it works fine with film still on 😉)
    It should work in any of those radios (if touchscreen is installed) - it is an OTX "thingy" .. (works in OTX 2.3.9 and 2.3.10 - as far as I can tell ..)
    Best regards and have a fun ..

    I believe Jumper was first, then came Radiomaster, and Radioking was third. So to avoid confusion and give your ( and my😬) mind a bit of rest, just refer to them as one, two and three.
    Nice review, as always. Like your style.

    Now this one has me truly perplexed.. I do love your thorough and honest reviews. How you disassemble the products and show how they work on screen, and give your honest opinion when compared to similar products of a similar price range. And allow the viewers to decide for themselves whether something is for them or not. This one here... I'd think I'd buy Radiomaster for my next transmitter when I decide I no longer have a total need or can justify setting aside my Taranis QX7S, which was worth every penny when I got it on clearance with the hall effect gimbals, three position switches and the R9 module... Cheaper than the base models normally go for when not on sale. I even have a 4-in-1 module for toy brands, the IRange IRX4+... It's a PITA to bind to Spektrum, but heck, why stop using my good ol' DX6 from 2014.. That transmitter is a true tank, and I'm glad so for the price. The Frsky has the bells and whistles, but God Bless one does not drop the thing.. Besides, the way things are looking in the hobby, and how RC Helicopters are still going strong, some interesting things are around the corner.. Best to hold out and drop that money on true upgrades rather than replacing a good piece of equipment for one extra whistle that replaces another and sacrificing some feature or other while at it.... And quads... Flight controllers are going to be dual core as the norm soon enough... But Helicopters, there will always be different and neat mechanical configurations to keep people buying new kits rather than companies relying entirely on selling spare parts.. Quads, you can only really do so much, the true enthusiasts get into the real model aircraft, planes and helis... But I cannot deny that having some quads and FPV makes Canadian winters go by far easier..

  • @choppergirl
    @choppergirl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    All three of them need Choppergirl's Sound Pack on them. Then when I say Transmitter Battery Low, you can tell me Thank you dear.
    Now that you mentioned oxidation re: battery trays, I'm like yeah, that's actually a good idea to have them now that you mentioned it. I bought a spare one just in case I pulled out a wire from the white connector... andi t only cost me $1.99 from RDQ. So someday if batteries get left in for 5 years and cause corrosion, that's a good thing, toss the old battery tray, put in a new one... if you ever had corrosion on battery terminals, you know it can really be a struggle to clean them... and sometimes the springs ont hem rust completely through and that's the end of that. I don't know if Lions leak like those old alkaline batteries, but who knows.
    In radio charging is essential thoughimho , from experience. Taking that battery tray in and out, then the individual batteries in and out, and putting them into ah omemade tray you soldered up just for charging with a proper xt60 and balance lead... would be a royal PITA. A lot easier just to plug a USB-C into the bottom and let it sit for a while with the green light on. When in a simulator, I let it charge while I fly by using an L shaped Netdot 12 mangentic connector.

    All getting very confusing! Plus, Frsky now have three headaches to worry about - serves them right. With regards to the sloppy detents, you can set up OpenTx to give a brief audible warning when you have the pot centered. With regards to the 3 radios, I wonder how they work out the licensing between the 3 of them? Or isn't that a thing in China? 😁 Or did the people that designed the electronics retain the rights, thus they can sell them to ever they want? Because I have not heard any arguments between them, accusing each other of copying products.

  • @choppergirl

    I've rather cooled on OpenTX. If you're totally comfortable with like programming a Commodore 64, an OpenTX transmitter is a whizzbang gadget. But I find I can't recommend to my friends who are old guys, kids, my mom, or just anybody who doesn't have access to TH-cam or knows how to do search term kung fu. Because out of the box, the radio is effectively useless and does nothing. Nothing is set up to arm your model, move any servos, alarm on any condition, report any values... nothing. It's a blank canvas when you get it and it may as well be dead brick. Unless you watch 30 youtube videos on it and spend a month programming it, you've basically got nothing but a useless plastic box. I love my TX-16s, *but* having to reprogram them myself every time I want to switch things around... I'm now starting to see this relationship isn't exactly as rosy as I once thought it was... and I'm a Python/Quickbasic programmer who grew up on tech and flashing firmware and installing drivers.

    • @solentlifeuk

      Basically ALL Tx's today come empty of models etc. How can any factory know what you will fly ?

    • @choppergirl
      @choppergirl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@solentlifeuk Well, this is what someone needs to do, and I was thinking of doing it myself. Make a big selection of models pre-setup, and name them after the radio/model/number. So for example, a crossfire setup for a quad would be CRQ1.
      A freesky setup for a wing would be FRW1, FRW2, etc.
      Then when BNF or RTFs are sold, on the box they could put a code... fly this with Model FRW1, or CRQ3, or FLW3, or whatever... and all you have to do is go into your models, scroll through for whichever model matches what's on the box, bind your model, and boom you're flying.
      No crossfire prgramming necessary, because it's all been done by someone like me and bundled with every Open-TX install. There could be a hundred model codes on there for all sorts of scenarios from helicopters to wings to quads to boats, to cars to whatever.
      Instead, what they do is ship you an Open TX transmitter that is a complete blank slate and does jack doodly out of the box. I spent several months programming mine. It's like a C-64 prompt. An awesome operating system, but that's all you get, you're at a prompt and have to program the thing yourself. For someone like me, ok, that is possible... but for most people, they are sold a brick when they get it like this.

All buttons/ sticks/ slides naming/numbering on the faceplate is not coloured/ painted made it hard to see.(Radiomaster version looks better got white painted) 3.) L & R sliders center-point can be more better felt. 4.) USB C top rubber cover can ne better design, current one sooner will break and lost. 5.) throttle gimbal got a dropped feeling on full throttle zone, its like when reached 90% zone, the gimble will automatically move towards 100% (maybe only mine have this issue.). 6)It said got a touch screen, but it's not.

    Lol ur silly, if u take out the 5in1 ull see the back is not populated, they didnt take charging from the tx16s cuz it doesnt balence... u can see cuz the one pos neg wire theres no tripple wire for each cell...its probally the same charging board as t16v2 so will have same fire hazzards when charging...my hope is they used a better usb charging controller so higher amp charge bricks dont burn the thing

    Radio King is obviously made by Jumper, rather badly in an attempt to claw back sales stolen by the superior Radio Master.
    Im guessing its assembled in Jumpers factory too.....So obvious.
    Both are inferior IMO.
