I haven't done this yet but think i can add a little bit of options to the mod. Instead of scraping with a knife, I would try some steel wool or scotch-brite pads. At least ending the removal with 000 steel wool will get you that translucent look throughout evenly. Also if done evenly all around, that translucent from the bottom looking into the bait will reflect whatever color you go with. For ME, I don't like my baits to look 40 years old, YMMV though. In addition to this mod, you can get a cheap fine bristle paint brush and add black or brown slashes down the side too.
I'm a firm believer in throwing baits that do NOT mimic local baitfish. I use this technique when I can't incite bites with anything else. It could be a coincidence but seems to help me here in Michigan. Keep those lines tight people...

In a prior video you scraped the black one too, so are both of these two colors now redone with marking pens? I found a whopper plopper that was almost ALL black instead of the loon model. I am wondering if I need to go to the effort of scraping the black one. It would seem black is black if it is solid.
My lake has an algae tint in the water and wonder if the chartreuse marker will reduce the bone visibility. I only have about 2 ft of visibility.
It's best to have 4 or 5 top water lures and switch often. My favorite is a "woodchopper" by Luhr Jensen.
I caught a 4, 6, and and an 8 this last Sunday on a clear/green whopper plopper.
We have so much vegetation here , it’s hard to fish em here , I rather a buzz bait here , I do own 2 I think mine are both natural colors , nice mod though too
I bought 10 whopper plopper blanks in clear and will be trying this mod. Randy, I know it is a reaction bait, but does the oder of a marker affect h the bite at all?

Pretty sure all those were 130s . You should try some of the smaller ones.
Facts…. I have caught some 5-6 lbers this summer on the size 60s and 75s. The small ones are lethal.

What is the point you're trying to make, none of those statements contradict each other. He's mentioned several times that whopper ploppers are not nearly as effective as they used to be, and that other top water lures may be more effective, but if you are going to use them, then he's provided mod tips to help get more bites. Do you even watch the videos, or just push out slop comments as soon as a new one drops?
