  • We have found the best tailor in Bangkok. And it turned out he is also the tailor of former presidents Barack Obama and George Bush!
We were looking for a suit in Zurich, Switzerland. But we decided it will be cheaper to get a custom made suit in Bangkok, Thailand. So we travelled to a tailor in Bangkok. For us this was the best tailor. We love our suits!
    Tailor:
    Rajawongse
    By Jesse & Victor
I also recommend to check out the story of tailoring business in Bangkok regarding our tailor:
    • Bangkok tailors
In addition, we travelled in the probably world's best business class of Oman Air:
    • Is THIS the WORLD'S BE...
Also, we stayed at the probably best hotel in Bangkok - at Hotel Amara with its rooftop infinity pool: www.booking.co...
As well as in a beautiful hotel with rooftop pool in Muscat, Oman: - at Hilton Garden Inn Al Khuwair: www.booking.co...
This is a video about our travel experience. A film by Diego Anderegg.

Never use both buttons. You only use the top button on a 2 button suit.

I Always hear that but why is that?

Thank you for pointing this out. In the meantime, I have also heard to use only the top button on a two button suit. But I agree with @Alexander Delasancha. Why are there two buttons if you only use one? 😄

@@diego.travel the story is that english king Edward 7 liked food and started to unbutton de second button to be more at ease when sitting and eating. As the king did it, so did the rest of the gentmen in the court. A fashion started.

@@sonnyforsberg9778 thank you for sharing this interesting story. Now for sure I will not forget to unbutton the second button of my suit 😃

Also, more than just historical, most tailors actually cut the coats with the intention of other buttons not to be used. The button stance is a huge topic in itself, but the overall outcome to achieve for tailors is to create the waist suppression and bring the eye attention to the suppressed waist. So no matter how straight down the tailor cuts the flap down to the second button hole, there will always need to be some cutaway so as to create that visual illusion to bring the eye attention to the waist level.
Also, buttoning the lower buttons would restrict the skirt flare which is a British cut feature again to emphasize the waist suppression. But skirt flares will need side vents rather than centre vent as in the case of this suit.

I’m in Asia and we are quite used to BKK tailoring. My opinion of them is, use them for shirts and trousers and there are some good value, but don’t bother about suits. The quality and cut just isn’t there.
What you get will be a very stiff suit (due to fused construction) that doesn’t move with your body, making them look cheap, and generally not very durable, good for only a few dry cleans. The good stuff only comes at the very top end of BKK tailors which is not all that cheap anymore. You are most of the time better off buying off the rack from say Suitsupply and having it tailored for a better fit.
As for the cut, it’s more than just making it tight to your body. E.g. the lapel width and length of the coat are all about proportions to your overall build and shape. Other fitting details include the excess fabric/plucking seen around the upper back of the coat which a good tailor would have taken care of.

@@andyfma123Go to Alongkorn, Borrom.BKK or the primary haus (google them). But probably take 6 months for a suit. Starting maybe 2000 usd. But they can last for lifetime.

Im not a hater, but i have to tell your the truth bothers… Those suits looks like shit.. I recommend you to look out for Hugo Jacoumet, Cifonelli in order to see how a real suit should look like. (Of course there is a big difference between mtm and bespoke, but its worth it). Anyway great video, keep up the good work!

    • @diego.travel
      @diego.travel  ปีที่แล้ว +4

Exactly. It started during the years of the Vietnam War. The tailor got recommended to George Bush senior, who then went there during a visit in Bangkok. Since then V.I.P.s like other U.S. presidents are regular customers during visits in Bangkok. You may also send your measurements without going there. They will send you your custom made suit to your home address.

@@diego.travel I have bouhgt there several shirts, not bad, but t expansive and a hustle to get what you really want. They don´t produce thenselves, somewhere at th border town in a manufactury. My mind, a rel good taylor himself should do the measurement and of coure the cutting too.
