    Well. Wasn’t expecting to tear up today when I clicked on this video. “I might not be here when you get back, but I’ll still be watching your adventures.” Got me. RIP Leroy.

    Quit making apologies about your Art , saying your art is too this and not enough that. It’s yours, what you imagined and created. There is nothing incorrect about it. From your head into being. It’s amazing. Thank you for sharing your creations with us.

    This episode was a real tear jerker, Leroy was such a nice guy. You are getting really good at carving Justin!! Leroy and Rolly inspired me to carve also. The Leroy E. Schmaltz memorial workshop is such a nice thought, he’s looking down on us from heaven happy that he inspired so many people and touched so many lives with his art. 🙏🏼

    Another great video Justin. Anyone that had the opportunity know LeRoy and learn from him is pretty dang special. I'm glad both his and Rolly's work will live on for years to come thanks in large part to people like you, Tiki Diablo and all others that have been influenced by these amazing artists and fantastic men.

    well... those are cool carvings! for the tikis on your garden, you can try some logs pedestals to elevate them over the plants! i did that in mine, just laying some red bricks on the dirt and then a log on top, so the log dosn't decompose, and then a huge studio ceramic pot with a face on it, kinda tiki face indeed, and it works perfectly inside a huge canna patch.

    I went to Disneyland for the first time this year since 1994. My biggest disappointment was that the Adventureland Bazaar is no longer a bazaar. It used to be full of quirky trinkets and bins full of jungle animal toys. I loved it. Now it's full of branded Disney merch. 😞

    @justinscarred it's best not to use a chainsaw on palm trees. The fiber can gum up the chain and throw it. Look up angle grinder wood carving for some better tools.

  • @Billllyubbda
    @Billllyubbda ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Justin You're doing it right.
    Why does your wood carving look uneven with the stain?
    Simply put, you're applying stain to the top of the grain, which will be lighter, and adding stain to the end of the grain, which will be darker.
    The top of the grain are the sides or facing out.
    The end grain are the deep cuts which exorb more stain.
    Would is going to absorb as much stain as it's going to, so you wipe the stain on and few minutes later whipe the stain off.
    Your inspiring me to carve some tikis.

    Have you tried using a router on some of your initial carving and then adding detail with a drummel tool? I used both to carve my son's toy box lid. I was able to adjust the depth using the router. Please be careful with the chain saw, they have a very bad bite!

  • @rolfathan
    @rolfathan ปีที่แล้ว

    The flicker comes from PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). Constant current is just a way to tightly regulate the current that goes to them. Constant current is a function of the driver, not the LED. PWM is a method for regulating the current by chopping it up very quickly (and at certain frequencies causes flickering). You can get a Adjustable Variable Power Adapter and to my understanding, since that actually reduces the voltage itself, and doesn't modulate, it won't flicker! They cost a bit more than your normal power supplies, but it would be worth it if it solves your issue. Also, sometimes just running the LEDs at full power solves it, as PWM is often introduced when reducing the brightness to use less power.

    You need my help I'm a tiki Carver name Tiki Ray El Rey, I also build fish ponds and water falls.
    I also was taught how to carve by a professional carving who also carved for Disneyland.
    Those palm tree logs you have our queen palms they are no good for carving you need to use Washington palms are usually the best palmwoods to carve.
    You need to learn to preserve your creations because putting stain is not going to preserve the tikis carvings if you do it my way they will last forever even outside.
    I can teach you all that I know about doing TiKis.
    We have a lot in common I lived in Gardena California and went to Disneyland all the time and Knott's Berry farm and Pacific Ocean Park on the pier and the Pike in Long Beach. There are things about Knott's Berry farm you have never talked about that used to be there a long time ago when I was a kid so maybe you don't know about them like the volcano and The Rock room where they have rocks that glow under three different wavelength of UV light. As a kid we used to go to bahoukas all the time with my parents and I'm heavy into the tiki scene.
    Of all the tiki bars I've been to across the United States Trader Sam's is my favorite.
    I am friends with Roy the bartender at Trader I surprised him one day with a tiki I made for him for his Tiki bar at home.
    Kelly Merrell knows me as the pirate because I always wear my Disneyland Jack Sparrow Disneyland Jersey.
    I've been a DJ since June 23rd 1984 working at roller King skating rink and in 1995 started working across the street at crocodiles nightclub.
    If you want to get ahold of me you can leave a message on the answering machine at crocodiles the number is 209 544 1962, like they say on the movie dazed and confused check you later Ray.
