40:00 That's too cool that you ran into Tony Baxter like that! Enjoying his creation one last time! But I thought the imagineers that were with him knowing who you were was even cooler.
Side note: I saw on tiktok that people were told to pour their water back in the ride, I guess I was more slick about it since when I collected it I only heard “please keep your hands inside the log”.
I'm from the UK and rode Splash Mountain when my parents took me to California in 1997. I finally got to come back and relieve it again just three weeks ago. Had no idea when I booked my trip that I'd be riding Splash Mountain again and just before it closed but I'm so glad I did! Thank you for this video it's excellent 😍
Thank you Mr. Tony Baxter for the memories and thank you Justin for this amazing video! I seriously cried when the doors closed. What's wrong with me??? HA HA!
That better be the Last Ride that closes at The park!!! I couldn't handle any of the older rides closing. They are what make Disneyland! And my childhood.
What a unique perspective. Thank you, Justin, for being such a proud and vested curator of our memories. Your enthusiasm and genuine love for these parks and the history and our memories is appreciated more than you know. Take care, buddy.
Totally worth the wait! I say this as a guy who worked in television post production his entire adult life, 20+ as a telecine colorist (I color corrected network television series and a few feature films); this video is excellent. The exposure, color, sound and content will make this one of the defining videos of the last day of this fantastic ride.
Although we knew that Splash Mountain wasn't open yet when we arrived to Disneyland on July 13, 1989, my buddy Troy Parker and I headed straight to Critter Country to see the progress on the biggest addition to Disneyland ever. To our surprise, we were invited to ride! It was my first soft opening ever!
That was well worth the wait, you captured the excitement and enthusiasm of Splash Mountain’s final splashdown. It was great seeing Tony Baxter’s last ride on his brainchild, thanks for capturing that. I’ve only had the nerve to ride it once, that final drop got to me. I remembered those animatronics, especially around the showboat, from America Sings, when it was in the Carousel of Progress building (as it will ever be in my mind, just as the Chinese Theater will always be Grauman’s). Too bad Adam the Woo wasn’t around to help YOU say goodbye to YOUR Splash Mountain, but oh well. Anyhow, thanks for taking several for the team and getting suitably soaked, and sharing the fun, great job!
Took me right back to 1992 when I opened Professor Barnaby Owl's Photographic Art Studio. So many photos were "dumped" for inappropriate behavior, and they were always a hoot to see. When I worked the opening shift, we were put on the first logs when they "tested" the ride. I worked New Orleans/Critter Country Merch until 1995, before Crocodile Mercantile was re-named Pooh Corner. Things change, but the feelings remain the same.
Well done Justin, sad I wasn’t able to ever ride this version, but I am beyond grateful I was lucky enough to ride the WDW one many times throughout my life
So wish that I would have been able to see splash mountain one more time. I haven’t been in a long time, but I am going to Disney next week so just missing it. Thank you Justin for covering it, and for also bringing me my dose of Disney land over the years!!
How awesome that you were able to see Tony Baxter and catch that special moment of his at the end. I never had an emotional attachment to this ride (I always got drenched if I rode it! 😅), but this video made me emotional and wished I was there for it. Thanks for sharing!
This ride will be surely be missed. It was a great ride during the summer on a hot day. The only water ride at Disneyland will be Grizzly River Run at DCA. I bet the line for that ride will be insane for that ride during the summer. Goodbye Splash Mountain 😢😭.
Gosh, it's been 34 years? I went to the opening on July 17 that year. I remember seeing Michael Eisner, Jim Varney and yes, Tony Baxter. Hardly anybody was in line for it, as it was supposed to open at 2 p.m., after the celebrities were to be finished. But it opened early at 11 and I must have been in the first few dozen or so in line. I remember running through the empty queue, stumbling down over the stair step in the big barn, then running the rest of the way to the loading area. Almost everybody from the opening had left, but KABC reporter Barney Morris (smoking a cigarette) and Tony Baxter were still there after I got off the ride.
Not gonna lie I will miss the charm of this ride cuz it became a core memory in my childhood and seeing it go makes me sad but it has served it’s purpose
I’m totally ok with it evolving into something more current & beautiful. I absolutely love Princess & the Frog. The music alone is going to make this an EPIC ride!❤
47:32 was emotional as I was there in front filming. 51:10 you can see me in the middle in my black beanie. ;) I could not hear what the girl was saying on the intercom before the work lights came on. What was she saying? 56:56 There is my ooogly mug.
I was looking forward to a Splash Farewell from you,Justin. You are an amazing blogger. I will miss Splash. I have been on it since it opened, back back in 1989. My wife and I were married a year. We got so wet, but it was a hot day. Thank you Splash Mountain. You have been a great friend, soggy bottom and all. You will be missed!
It will forever be in our hearts. Also, i don’t think you noticed, but you were singing How do you do wrong. It goes, pretty good, sure as you’re born.
When I got to the park lightning lane was sold out. I got to ride it 4 times that day. Used single rider and the last one before it closed I was in the line. In face I was 15min ahead of you in line. Then a few feet from you as we watched the last few flumes go down.
I'm gonna miss Splash Mountain so much... I wish I could've been there to experience the ride's last moments... Thanks for all the Zip a Dee Doo Dah days Splash Mountain.
RIP Splash Mountain, we're excited for what is to come with Tiana's Bayou Adventure! We watched your video on WDW Splash Mountain closing and though that video turned out great, but then you went and outdid yourself with DL Splash video!
As much as I love splash I can’t wait for Tiana! But splash will have a special place in my heart I rode splash at Disney World on my bday with my step dad unfortunately he passed in 2020 and so splash has a special memory of me riding it with him.
Such a classic. I aways looked forward to this ride as a kid especially on a hot summer day however, I could do without the wet socks and shoes! 😟 Good fun all around!
I live in CA and have visited Disneyland way more times but for some reason the closing at MK hit me way harder than the closing at DL did. I had way more fomo knowing I will never be able to ride it again. This is one ofnthose rides that made Disneyland what it is so sad tonsee it go but I'm also always looking forward to new things.
I should not be watching this after I've done my makeup 😭 I made it to Disneyland for the first time in March with the main goal of riding Splash Mountain and though it was cold, I did succeed! I also really wanted a picture with the Br'er Rabbit well, but unfortunately that didn't happen :( I did get to see it with my own eyes tho! I said this on your Disney World Splash video, but I gotta say it again: I really appreciate these. It's nice to know this ride will live in Randomland forever 🥲
After watching the WDW splash mountain last day vlog this interesting to see. I’ve only been to WDW never Disney land ( I’m from the UK) but I noticed the seats in the logs were different as the WDW are 2 people per row but these were only 1 person per row. Fun vlog and I will miss splash mountain next time we go to WDW. Xx
I left Disneyland on the 24th so I just barely missed all the crowds for splash mountain! The line was consistently really long but not too bad. So sad to see it go
Seeing Tony Baxter must have been the best part. What a great experience.
40:00 That's too cool that you ran into Tony Baxter like that! Enjoying his creation one last time! But I thought the imagineers that were with him knowing who you were was even cooler.
56:16 that’s me with the bottle of splash mountain water lol. Such a memorable night, everyone daring me to drink it was the best part 😂
Side note: I saw on tiktok that people were told to pour their water back in the ride, I guess I was more slick about it since when I collected it I only heard “please keep your hands inside the log”.
ok but what did you do with the water, did you stash it away or sell it, with the ride "gone" that has got to sell for a pretty penny now.
We will have Tokyo Disney Splash forever and it's amazing.
justin slowly slipping into hysteria and delirium the longer he stands in line is killing me 😂
It's really hilarious!!!!! He seems like so much fun!!! 😂😂😂❤
I'm from the UK and rode Splash Mountain when my parents took me to California in 1997. I finally got to come back and relieve it again just three weeks ago. We are going to miss splash mountain
This is definitely the best coverage of the day's events. Thank you for showing from rope drop to close.
That better be the Last Ride that closes at The park!!! I couldn't handle any of the older rides closing. They are what make Disneyland! And my childhood.
Great vlog Justin! I hope Tokyo Disneyland never changes their splash mountain so we can always go back and revisit our laughin place.
Me too and I’m hoping one day Disney learns their lesson and brings back Splash Mountain to Disneyland and Disney World!!! 😁😁😁
Thanks Justin for allowing us to be there in spirit for those of us who couldn't. Luv ya man!
What a unique perspective. Thank you, Justin, for being such a proud and vested curator of our memories. Your enthusiasm and genuine love for these parks and the history and our memories is appreciated more than you know. Take care, buddy.
Really going to miss Splash Mountain…….appreciate the work that went into this episode….thanks Justin and Ally!

I wish Br’er Rabbit, along with Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear would do meet and greets on the last day of Splash Mountain. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks for documenting this in the awesome way that you always do!
A beautiful tribute to this beautiful attraction
I’m so glad I was able to ride Splash one last time last year. I’m also super excited for the re-theme it’ll be a fun change!😊
So wish that I would have been able to see splash mountain one more time. I haven’t been in a long time, but I am going to Disney next week so just missing it. Thank you Justin for covering it, and for also bringing me my dose of Disney land over the years!!
Your commentary was AWESOME and HILARIOUS!!! 🤪 So amazing that you saw Tony Baxter!!! 😱

Ahhh! I can just smell the ride looking at this! Something I can never smell again 😢 unless it remains in Tiana
