Not sure what Jerry was doing on Look for Me with that strange note, but his verse on the Old Ship of Zion is only rivaled by Ernie Phillips and had he stayed with the Kmen longer or been with them during their glory years, I think Jerry would be considered the best to ever sing tenor for them. Exhibit A of what he was capable of was the Not Quite As Big But Just As Live performance, which I would put up against any live CD body of work by a SG tenor period.

Yeah, I think Jerry was going out of his range there. I remember when he joined the Dove Brothers, and the NQC was just after that. He had a cold or something, and his voice cracked on every high note. Can't blame him for that. Colds are not good on tenor singers.
I agree about Not Quite As Big But Just As Live. Not many people know that recording even exists, but it is one of the best the Kingsmen ever did, maybe even better than the original.
Ernie is my all-time favorite Kingsmen tenor. I got to see him in Mobile, AL when we was filling in after Chris Jenkins left the first time. What a treat!
