Missing out on Grombrindal. He's such an interesting concept. Not only does his special trait trigger potentially 16 times instead of just once, he's also not super expensive, still a solid dwarf player, AND when investing in him, you're also investing SPP into your team, rather than just the star player. I'm really into the concept of a star player that tangibly enables your players to be better and skill themselves up, rather than just doing all the scoring or all the killing themselves
Ben, I would say that Grombrindal with his rule "Wisdom of the White Dwarf" really deserves to be in the top 5, as he upgrades your team so much giving the rule you want for a player in your team EVERY turn. He is great!
Start with video's explaining the game, like how to play Blood Bowl II on PC. Sure it's the old edition but the core of the game is almost the same. Just AG has been split into two separate stats and passing is nerfed as a whole, for whatever reason because nobody bothered with it anyways. But welcome to the best miniature game that I have been playing for 20 years.
Still think Akhorne beats Roxanna because he (or she?) will see alot more play because of the cheap price (80k) and don't underestimate the ability to cage dive on a 1+ with reroll and then have a 89% chance to one die block the ball carrier. Just the threat of it will seriously slow alot of opponents :) Seriously think it will be the cookie cuter build for low TV Black orc team. And Roxanna isn't nearly as good for the elf teams as for the Amazons. Next top five should be Top 5 teams to pick with your Akhorne ;)
Roxanna is definitely an odd inclusion. Griff, Hakflem and Wilhelm deserve top 3 because they're good value options that add a ton to the teams that isn't necessarily otherwise available. Roxanna is a star that provides what elf teams already bring in spades, and more critically, is expensive enough that taking her arguably hurts the teams. Akhorne, zug and gromdimbal are the three I'd consider for the last slot. Those three are good players at great value and will be popular options.
@@deckerCKY I agree. That top 3 is pretty given. Zug is the best str 5 star player out there when cost is considered and I love Gromdimbal as a concept but I am not 100% convinced about the skills he offers. I'm not saying other skills would be better just that I haven't really thought it over properly and wasn't 100% sold at first look. Akhorne tho for me is slightly higher because he is the only player that cost under 100k. Meaning he has the absolutely best chance of being seen in short leagues with the rebuy system. A lot of teams are going to afford him and he will make a lot of those teams better. So if you take into account what star players will affect a league over a season I think Akhorne will stand out simply because he is affordable enough that he will play more games than other star players :) However I could be wrong and he's could turn out to statistically horrible xD
Gloriel with Elven Union looks like a great combo, Roxanna maybe a bit too expensive for the sort of teams where a wizard and kegs might be the priority for inducements, Chaney is a beast and augments the teams he can play for, Griff is a complete star player and now adds an actual ball carrier to halflings (for example ) amongst many other benefits, Hakflem is a great choice for top spot. Hakflem and Morg a possible duo in the fearsome Snotling teams. Deeproot still my favourite but is not top 5.
Maybe a top 5 Cost efficient players (you can think of a better name) basically players that play their role very well. Examples: Zombie, Gutter Runner, Witch Elf
Didnt Griff Uberalles used to be: 8 4 4 8 blodge, leap back in the day? Or am i imagining the leap part. I know i was 8Move cuz i remember cheering he went from 8 to 7 with fend instead of whatever it was before. Which was a nice respite cuz 8 4 4 8 blodge is almost as nutty as that old 6 5 4 9 blodge vampire.
Is it common to use a star player but use a model that matches your team more than the Description. So rather than a helmut being a fat old dude using a orc with a chainsaw or a troll and goblin instead of grak and crumbleberry
I don't get why Hakflem needs to be this cheap when you make him this good. Gloriel feels on the weak side, because she is a one trick pony. Build for carrying the ball and lending assists in defense? You really don't want her on the pitch on defense with that ST2 and AV 8+. Once we actually can start playing, my prediction is that Hakflem will be either nerfed or banned from NAF tournaments. It's like you said, he brings something which is missing to so many bash teams. Which breaks the balance. At 180k he is only 30k more than an unreliable Minotaur. I think he should cast around 220 to 240k to be balanced. That's the price bracket where many Star Players sit in.
My choices would have been Akhorne (because he is the cheapest starplayer with mich flexibility, if used right), Grombrindahl, because he helps to Developers your team. (Thinking about leagues, when je helps your Team to collect ssp, it's a permanent benefit) and hakflem. The Rest ihrer 2 slots, I'm not sure.
A natural 1 is always a fail but it means that a modified 1 is a success. That means that even if she dodges into 2 tackle zones or dodges out of a tackle zone of a player with prehensile tail she still succeeds at roll of 2 or more :)
I agree with four of those five. Not impressed by Roxy for the Elf teams when you get can get Eldril with 2+ Gaze. Griff, Wilhelm and Hakflem would be my top three. Gets a bit harder after that but I think Eldril would be my next pick. Karla, our Zara replacement, would be my next pick as she is Str 4 Blodge and plays for a lot of different teams.

Very cool. Just started watching your videos and going to pick up the base game today. Any tips for a new player or videos to watch?

last one for the year should be Top 5 dice in Blood Bowl.

No Skrull or Grim ☹️
Loved your choices though Ben, thank you for putting this together.

I would like to see your top 5 Pitches!
Wouldn't mind a full star player power rankings with all the available options now
Should do a top 5 tournament teams that do need star player help and 5 that do not.

...and no dwarfs make the grade...yet we're scrutinized for being 'OP'...Dwarfs in Tier 2 please. Dwarf Lives Matter!!!
Poor old Zolcath the Zoat
Messaged you earlier. Getting caught up. Cant believe didnt find you before
Do you think they could add allies back "in a controlled manner?" Kind of as a cheap alternative to star players?
What about the top 5 legacy star players that would add nuance, balance and strategies to the current meta?
Morg 6?
before watching in, i bet grak and crumbleberry are in
after watching it.
impossibru!
I was legit shocked they weren't number 1.

Speaking of star players. I understand the balance issue of having them with loner. Is their a lore reason?
They are mercs who only join the team for one game. They haven't been to practices with the team and are not part of the cohesive unit.
I don't get why Hakflem needs to be this cheap when you make him this good.

What does 1+ dodge mean here with Roxanna? That she can't fail a dodge?

80k difference in price...
No grak and crummleberry. i like the list overall but morgs on his way round he wants a word
Griff used to have Leap.
No way Gloriel is better than Morg and Deeproot, did you just forget about mighty blow (+2)?
Have you played either of them, except with flings, without feeling bad? They just cost to much
