Lugansky is one of the contemporary masters. Saw and heard him play last Thursday. His performance has acquired a lot of depth over the years. I heard things that I never noticed before in Rachmaninov’s Etudes. He gave 3 encores and I didn’t count the many times the audience called him back on the scene… what a joy for all people present!

Bravo. Rachmaninoff is truly a genius and someone who brought some of his incredible talent and brilliance from the pre existence. A perfectionist at transforming pure emotion into music. Heaven was fortunate to receive him back the day he died. This music sets the perfect mood for a melancholy, rainy day.
This is some form of reflection on Chopin’s first ballade…
But refined to the stars, just superb music writing.

As I know Rachmaninov firstly published it as №8, later it was numbered №7. I have seen some people on TH-cam number it op.33 №7/8.
In some editions is numbered as 5 😅
