I still wonder how luffy win against this monster To be honest this best fight in one piece luffy 1v1 Luffy did 6v2 against kaido So we can't count it in 1v1
This is single handedly the greatest fight in One Piece. Not only were these two on a closer level than any of us can imagine, their powers being nearly identical but this fight also didn't have any unnecessary interruptions but it also has a definitive ending unlike a lot of other fights (which I also do respect as it sets up stuff for the future but this one's different) which meant it felt a lot more complete, giving us that classical anime showdown effect of satisfaction.
You did not watch the fight then Luffy would have lost if not for katakuri wanting a fair fight since his younger sister shot luffy and luffy would have died if not for katakuri stabbing himself to make it fair.
Their power levels are very different at this point, katakuri let luffy win. Katakuri has INSANE power but barely any stamina because he never lost before, luffy has stamina but relatively no power. Katakuri did more to luffy than luffy to katakuri, but it also took katakuri way more attacks. Katakuri just gave up because he knew he was out of stamina. Also if luffy had gear 5/awakening this fight would be over in mere minutes. The only reason katakuri stood a chance is because his fruit is stronger, at that point in time katakuri could awaken himself but luffy couldnt. Edit: also katakuri does have the upperhand in haki, his busoshoku haki is very strong to cover so much mochi and he had kenbunshoku haki awakened into futuresight before luffy did, meaning he could control it better Edit 2x: also katakuri fought fair, but his siblings cheated hard, I find it honorable that katakuri could have killed luffy when his sister shot him, but instead harmed himself to make it fair. I also think that did make the fight a lot easier for luffy though, as katakuri wounded himself more than his sister wounded luffy
Wouldn't be surprised if Katakuri becomes the new Captain of the Big Mom crew. He is really strong, and everyone really respects him. This was one of Luffy's toughest fights by far, and they seem to respect each other. Hopefully we get to see more of him in the future.

One of the most important fights for Luffy IMO. This guy was basically Luffy but the right hand of an Emperor. Beating him would mean he is close to their level only steps away, and showcased what he would be capable of. May not be my personal favorite like with Lucci but gave insight and depth for what was to come
The project was executed in a very professional manner and had a clear development plan. Without a doubt ,this is one of the best projects out there ,success always
It is funny how Katakuri not only gave that "Im you but better" thing, he also literally gave Luffy taste of his own medicine, beating him with basically same moves he uset to beat other antagonists. Also, isnt it funny how every time Luffy meets somebody who directly counters him, or countered by him - this person always has a trident as weapon
I remember Katakuri telling Luffy he did not get hit by his attacks, not because he was a logia but because he, with his sight of the future changed the shape of his body to make Luffys haki infused fists miss, that was actually SICK😎
As other people mentioned, this is a fight that seemed nearly impossible for Luffy to win - in truth, these two are not all that different from each other (their powers, their love for food, the way they eat, their will to protect their family, etc) except that Katakuri is trapped by this false image of himself and the high standards his family holds to himself. Man can't even eat in front of others, nor take a breather, while Luffy is free to express his entire self and does so. Perhaps that is why he ultimately wins, it freed Katakuri in a way. And these two hold a great amount of respect for each other as well, more than most villains in one piece. I hope soon they will be able to meet again. I could see them being friends, or at least respectable rivals in the future. Especially now considering (SPOILER) that Big Mom has been defeated, it is most likely that Katakuri has taken charge as I believe Daifuku once mentioned that if Big Mom were to die, Katakuri would be the best candidate to lead them. Anyways, can't wait to see him again. Edit: Also hope the Charlotte family as a whole get some freedom now that Big Mom is out of the picture, they've all been trapped in some way whether they realize it or not, many of them believing they are ugly for features are scars they can't control, and treated as such because that's all the family has ever known - even Flampe I pity, because that's probably the only perspective she's ever had in life - perfection is key and any flaw is ugly and a sign of weakness and should be shunned.
I'm still shivering to think of what would happen if a monster like Katakuri would manage to use Advanced Armament and Advanced Conquerors (which he could defintely master). I'm sure Oda will pull Karaturi back someday, and I am eager to witness that moment. Hands down one of the best well written charachters in anime history

I love how Luffy was still ready to go up until Katakuri fell on his back.
I love this fight so much, i watched it like 7 times in a row and continued to watch it like at least once a week
