I don’t know my man, Lucci’s design is actually really cool. But the fact that Luffy isn’t taking him seriously shows how big the power differences is compared to last time they fought. The Manga actually did just fine with this fight. I feel like what the anime will do better than the Manga is the Kizaru fight imo. *THAT* Speed Feat is gonna be INSANE
@@PKLO9727 I agree that Lucci isn't doing any damage and Luffy is dodging everything. I mean that the anime helps in making Lucci's durability stand out. He can take Luffy on in the sense he isn't getting 1 shot like he is a goon. Luffy was also toying with Kaido during their fight, and you could contribute that to being a part of his powers. I loved the way they animated the reveal of his Devil Fruit Awakening because it made him seem like a huge deal and he wasn't taking any massive physical damage from Luffy either. Despite him not being able to hit him back at all.
@@jmully397 wait til next episode. If its like the manga, Lucci cant take a real hit from luffy without nearly getting KO'd.
I think the only issues I've had with the anime recently (because the pacing of this episode was real good) was the Jimbe knowing warrior of liberation (not canon) and the whitewashing of all the darker characters (colors are just inconsistent since time skip started. Also who does or doesn't have conqueror's haki getting confusing if you don't read the manga lol.
Gear 2 vs Lucci is probably the most iconic fight of the anime, alongside the one against Crocodile.
Glad Oda recovers the classics.

The moment he transforms into awakened form you can just see how much his pride was hurt and how fing pissed he is... How much he needed to reassert to himself that he is the predator in this fight and not the clown.

That base clash they added in, as well as all the other anime original moments from this fight like the whole transformation really helped elevate this fight to a whole new level than it was in the manga. This is where everything kicks off in Egghead itself and you were truly able to feel it

I would argue that freedom fighter fits way better as he actually fights without any restrictions. There is no hate or egde or anything when nikka fights. Just the pure joy of fighting.

That's why the song is called gods because literally there are almost 2 gods fighting (one more than the other, right) man the editing was incredible man if Luffy is already at this level with gear 5, imagine gear 6
No gear 6, gear 4 was already semi-awakening, while gear5 was full awakening. We see Luffy go hybrid "form" nonstop in egghead. In the end Luffy has been able to do his stuff since the very beginning.

Lucci should’ve ran as soon as he saw Gear 5’s Conqueror’s Haki shockwave. From what I’ve seen and know, Luffy cake walks Lucci like an owner walking their cat LOL. Nothing but ease and if not then they get the discipline
But look at his change in expression. When Luffy transforms he cant help to smile. He feels the thrills he feels the pure joy of fighting nikka exudes.
When he difference gets clear and Nikka shows him that he is the hunter in this fight (the demon eye scene) Lucci is so fing hurt in his pride and really need to reassert himself as the predator in this fight.

Just a reminder here that Lucci is still an awakened Zoan. The weakest awakening we’ve seen in the entire series (besides the ID beasts) is Doffy. That alone places him at at least his level, and probably quite a bit higher since Zoans seem to be harder to awaken than Paramecias. He still gets bodied by G5, sure, but he isn’t a pushover by any means.

Lucci pulled a Vegeta. He let his opponent power up instead of making them fight for it. He probably would’ve still lost but it wouldn’t have been as quick.
