- In this week’s episode, we’re going to begin my look at predators by starting with the most common and prolific - the heron. In part, which will come out at some point over the winter, we’ll take a look at at least 3 other predators, including, possibly, the most dangerous.

Only thing about fall and winter is that all the herons here migrate to the states and eat their fish.. I forget you have them year round.. At least its not breeding season and they are trying to feed all their young..

Fascinating insight and well put together video. I did notice a couple of Great Blue Heron photos, but that did not detract from your excellent video. They have defeated my first couple of attempts to stop them. I now have three bamboo poles with string going to a single pole on the opposite side of the pond, with fish wind socks, which have large eyes and are constantly moving in the wind. This has worked over the summer. Herons like an easy flight in and out of gardens, so place a few poles around the garden makes it difficult for them. Keep the videos coming. Stay safe and well 👍🏻

Great up date really enjoyed watching this about herons as we get quite a few here live close to a nature reserve Found one on pond side this year but it can no longer get to fish now stay safe Happy Christmas 🎄🤶🎄
Not just 2 main fishing methods. Had nearly the same set up but without a marginal shelf. The heron dive bombed and managed to take flight again from a floating position (along with my prize asagi koi). Herons can swim and fish from floating. Check videos on here,
