      Thank you so much. I’m super behind on content but I hope to get restarted within the next month or so.

    Loving these old school deck profiles. I collected all these cards at 13-14 years old, but was not mentally capable of building a competitive deck then. I played competitively at tournaments during the EX era from 2006 - 2008. Those were some great memories. Anyways, it's great seeing these competitive strategies from the original few sets. I'm about binge watch all these. Thanks for doing these.

      Also, I think this deck has a bit of viability since exeggutor can potentially do some big damage for only one energy. That is really the key to this one. It's very flippy though.

    Fun fact: you can Energy Transfer Electrodes if you Buzzap them into grass energies.

    Chansey makes a great tech for this deck against big basics. It's scrunch allows you time to get more energy drops, and since you are playing pk center, it's gareented 80 for only 2 grass and a dce drop makes it a pretty great counter to big basics if you desperately need to take something out. I would keep 1 or 2 Ivysaur in for trainer lock decks though. The great thing about this deck is that you don't need that many energy to run it. I would cut close to half the energy count for trainers, and 1 or 2 tech pokemon. And you definitely want to be running a couple dce in here. That way you aren't moving all your grass onto your attacker. You also need to be running 3 switch due to venasaur and a full playset of item finder.
    Apart from that you could run a Dragonite variant instead of executor to take advantage of it's rush in ability to reduce the count of switches necessary in the build. The colorless mons are a great alternative with venasaur's ability.

    Never seen Venomoth in any deck, sounds interesting

    I would add a few double colorless energys for scyther and eggecutor

    I love this deck. I actually run it with Chancey instead of Exeggutor.

      Yea good point. Seems waaaaay better, also gives you more room in the deck since it's a basic pokemon and not a stage 1 :)

      Kangaskhan is also an option.

      It's a good tech but the double edge recoil is a bit to much to take advantage of it's healing capabilities. It's a 1 or 2 of to combat big basics and to buy time.

      @@rjbourgeois5490 Actually I mostly use Chansey as a sponge and Scyther as the main attacker. or sometimes ill have Chansey sit on the bench to transfer energy to while I pokemon center all the Venusaur and Scyther.

    Ya know what's funny though, Venusaur has actually been way more competitively viable than Blastoise due to a better stat distribution, better movepool (gen 1 Blastoise needed mimic of all moves to be useful), and not to mention better hidden ability in chlorophyll making it a fast, bulky, but also special attacking sweeper, and it's mega evolution having thick fat, getting rid of its ice and fire weakness, and finally, its gigantamax being so much more utilized as it kept chlorophyll. Venusaur has been outdoing Blastoise since gen 1.

    Movie Promo Mewtwo with rainbow energy can be moved with Venusaur and is a cool way to use BS Electabuzz and other haymakers

      The more I played around with Venusaur in Base-Neo, I realized that BSP Mewtwo really is the best pairing for Base Venusaur in any format they share.

    I love adding Grimer/ Dark Muk to my deck’s that are similar too this. Even Dratini in-to Dark Dragon-air / Dark Dragon-ite , Too get the card’s that I want quickly. Plus Grimer/Muk aren’t weak too fire. Always keep a Dark VenuSaur close-BY……………………………….. :)

    cool video! any idea where I could buy a pre-made deck like haymaker or venucenter without buying them as all singles?

    • @shuckletcg
      @shuckletcg  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cody Cearley Maybe eBay? Once you have a play set of all of the major trainers, it can be pretty cheap to add in certain pokemon for whatever build you want, with the exception of things like Charizard and Blastoise that remain pretty pricey. Local card shops may be another option if you go in with a deck list and let them find all of the singles for you.

      thanks mr. shuckle, I ebayed last night and found most of the cards for my own venucenter deck :) Will you be doing videos on any of the gym hero themes? I always thought they were cool.

      Yep! I’ll be working my way through some Rocket decks and then Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge decks in the near future.

      Finally made and was able to played your venucenter deck! I played it against your haymaker deck and I lost soo bad!! I couldnt get the right cards at the right time for the life of me...had 4 oaks, 4 bills, 3 item finders, and 3 computer search. how can this happen with that much draw power??
      I made some edits and managed to finally win one game. here are some of them in case your interested
      -took out breeder for ivysaur and pokemon trader (with breeder I always wound up having one card and not the other)
      -Included ditto, he is a major help because sycther takes too long to power up with out dce to fight and eggcecute and bulbasaur cannot fight at all early on against hitmonchan. also with only 9 basics compared to haymakers 12, my field was always really empty
      -included energy retrieval because of super energy removal and energy removal. it happens so fast that you cant spend more turns waiting to draw energy when most of its in the discard pile.
      -included 2 super energy removal because electabuzz and hitmonchan will slow down significantly allowing you time to build up venusaur
      -added 2 plus power to get one hit kos with venusaur or get an advantage with ditto in a mirror
      -i actually took outthe bills and i was drawing better? i dont know why...

    • @shuckletcg
      @shuckletcg  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cody Cearley Hm. For more consistency you could replace the exeggcute/exeggutor with bulky normal basics like Chansey or Kanga (for extra draw support).

    pokemon center heal ALL your Pokemon and remove ALL energie of them. so Venusur should be save on beanch?

      Card-Joker Yes, Venusaur is mainly support in this deck and should rarely attack.
