I followed your link in your reply comment to this video. Man, you dropped the hammer on um. Being it was October I assume it was the spawn. Those were some really nice fish. One of them at the beginning was a football...heavy shoulders. I have fly fished that area for years but never made it to Teluride. I have fished Lime Creek on the other side of the mountains, as well as the Conejos, Los Pinos, Upper Piedra forks, Williams Creek, upper and lower, the Weminuche, as well as my favorite, The Saguache. Before I lost my wife in 2020, we would make an annual five week trip out west, starting in Idaho and worked our way down to Colorado and New Mexico before heading home here in Louisiana. I did manage to take my grand daughter, who I am raising, to Idaho to meet my daughter and other grand kids for a month long dry camping trip to Copper Basin. An incredible trip. I had kind of resigned myself to that sadly being my last trip. You have inspired me....I might just have to work on my mindset and get back after them. Great video...I subbed. Now I just need to figure out who is who...Rick or Mike. :)

Mike is the one in most of the hunting and fishing videos. I am the one in most of the camping videos.
I'm the better looking and smarter one. Don't tell Mike I said that.
I'm sorry to hear you lost your wife in 2020 but that's interesting, in a sad way, because Mike lost his wife to cancer in August of 2020, which led to our first fishing videos on MikenRickOutdoors. Mike and his wife had been battling cancer for two years and he was physically and emotionally wiped out at that point. I talked him into coming to Colorado to go fishing and to get away from everything he had been battling, and it turned out to be the best thing for him.
I don't mean to bring up more things here but Mike lost his son to a drunk driver about 9 months later in the Spring of 2021 and as you can imagine, it about destroyed him, but having the outdoors and fishing here in Colorado really helped pull him through that.
It's best to have something to plan for and look forward to in life, no matter how old you are and no matter what situation you find yourself in.
Thanks for the thumbs up and the sub. Maybe we'll hook up some time here in Colorado for a fishing trip if you're up for it.

Yes, at least the Browns were spawning and we would see them thrashing around near the shoreline a lot.
The rainbows we caught were smaller and were harder to find and we definitely didn't see any large rainbows on this trip. Mike caught some big rainbows at Miramonte last November, around November 15th, but the lake was already icing up and there were only a few holes of water that were free of ice. The rainbows were feeding on the crawdads at that time.

Absolutely. It was a great trip and the fish were glad to see us leave, well, at least to see Mike leave.

Glad you enjoyed it. We had a great time and it was probably our most successful fishing trip so far.
