I spent 3 years at Bragg from 1987 to 1990, and have 22 jumps including Panama in December 89. I have a cousin who is 73 and did 3 tours in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne, and made their Nam combat jump in 1967. Two combat jump stars 22 years apart in the same family...not too shabby.

Did you know someone named Jackson? He’s a 1SG now, 1SG Jackson, and he’s one of the few active duty service members with a combat jump.
He did a combat jump when he was in the 82nd and jumped in Panama.

HOAAH! 43 jumps and miss it almost every day. Even camo, a heavy ruck, waddling to the aircraft, standing hooked up FOREVER and waiting at Green Ramp for hours.

I spent my whole time at Bragg, 1975 -1978 with the 82nd, was attached to the 1/17 Air Cav. I miss everything that we did, and there was nothing like beginning packed in a C 130 or C141. Don't think I could handle all the extra room they have today in the C 17.
    AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY SIR

Great camera position on that. Never seen it from a Jump Master's view before. That was pretty cool. I was lucky enough to have "Door Position" 4 times while I was there, but never had a view like that. All my jumps were after midnight. Thanks for throwing that on here my Brother.

That Jump Master was a NO GO!!! When he took control of the jump door from the A/C Load Master, he DID NOT clear the door edges to check for anything that might cut a static line. Not running your hand from bottom to top along the leading and trailing edges of the jump door is MAJOR safety violation!!

I remember my last jump at airborne school I got soaked too. I was eyeing this dirt road below me and prepared for a hard landing only to realize how soft it was, turns out I landed next to it in a marsh. Everything got wet except for the reserve. Would do again.

I think my first combat jump at airborne school I hit the marsh, tried to PLF but just lawn darted into the mud and sunk to my knees. Softest landing I ever had.

I have never folded the fucking troop seats during a jump in my life. I got my M1950 on one night jump in Panama. Next time I made sure I never got stuck ever again by keeping my leg in while shuffling to the door.
