I think mothership Singapore deserves a shoutout. From what I have seen throughout this election period, they have been fairy neutral. They portray apples as apples, what you see is what you get. I believe we all deserve to see things from a neutral and fair perspective. That should be a basic right to all citizens. Only then, we can make an informed decision over important things.

Mothership used to spread racial hate and chinese elitism until they started getting famous with the whole of singapore and good brand sponserships then they started watching their words when realising it could be a real business. The people behind it still only want chinese people to thrive not malays and indians. Dont blindly support. I used to see all their posts it was so hateful towards us.

If Jamus don’t get into the parliament. Singaporean , particularly those in Seng Kang has missed by a Long shot, absolutely not thinking. U want a sound guy to speak for you? Now you have it. We just don’t have a world class debate in our parliament. Sigh... don’t think any outstanding candidate will stand for opp party in future if Jamus don’t get in. We even have a lady who say our government is PaP. It shows our poor understanding of politics. A government is always formed by various candidates from different parties being elected to form a government. Government is NOT a party. Even for our present government. Sigh... how poor our understanding of politics. Singaporean really needs to be educated. Not just get A in exams.

    My take on the debate:
Dr Vivian: Given the amassed time given, plus he is the incumbent minister and a well known debator, he SHOULD be articulate enough to rebut every comment he is going to get from the three opposition members. However, what I didnt like is how he shot down Dr Chee without giving him the opportunity to speak. He should at least listen, let Dr Chee finish his speech, and then rebut. He was quick to shoot down what DPM Heng said in the forum, quick to say that its fake news. I hope what he said doesnt come back to haunt him.
Francis Yuen: He is taking the safe and diplomatic way. From what I see, PSP often does in the neutral way, like how WP often does theirs.
Dr Chee: He is speaking from the ground. And his debates are not baseless. You can see whatever he said, he quotes every single thing from articles and videos that were taken from Minister speeches and interviews. To be labelled fake news and baseless were uncalled for. You can see Dr Chee has already toned down alot with age. All he wants, like most Singaporeans, are answers from the government, which we have yet to receive.
Jamus Lim: Well, I am not surprised with Jamus, knowing his ability and his qualification. Besides, you can see he is very good in his words and I hope Sengkang voters will give him their mandate to represent them in the Parliament.

From 3:48, the guy was wrong to point out that he hope more people like Jamus join politics, even if they join PAP. Good people like Jamus if join PAP will be forced to be silenced and follow the usual way PAP runs the country and the estates. So people like Jamus who joined PAP will eventually be disillusioned and may even lose hope. Good people like Jamus should join oppositions or WP, so that they can voice out freely their concerns and ideas. Tan Cheng Bock is a good example who left PAP and created his own party.

Policies set by the govt are approved and executed after many debates in Parliament. And for the same policies set upon years ago, policies may be subject to adjustment to adapt to changing environment. Parties should just not do such debate with no basis of a constructive solutions. What we are looking for is not how proficient language you speak, or how eloquent you displayed under the spotlights ..... SOLUTION, SOLUTION, SOLUTION. That;s the key.

I have no qualms with Jamus. But we have seen in last 10 years technocrats cannot relate to ppl on the ground. They were detach by their 'superior thinking and ideas'. Basically, they love their brains too much. In these disruptive times, instead of technocrates, we need leaders/lawmakers that have empathy and have the ability to acknowlegde and admit to their mistakes so can be agile to able to 'prata' wrong decision. We are now in the ages of accepting mistakes so we can quickly make corrective action to salvage or improve the situation.

One of the interviewee mentioned that it will also be good that that the PAP has such a person like Jamus. I strongly disagree that such a person in the PAP side will be allowed to speak his mind like what Jamus is doing right now. It would be a waste of talent for 'Jamus' to be a PAP candidate. He will likely be groom to be a YES man.

I’m not sure how people measure or gauge the performance of the “popular”individual Lim from watching the debate... But for me, I can never trust an individual when he’s incapable of or unable to look straight into The Eye of his Opponent during several confrontations... consistently. There may be many reasons for that same way of response but none good comes to mind. But I totally agreed he’s definitely a Competitive speaker with a solid resume! I hope all good comes around and congrats all candidates at the table! An overall good performance to all candidates.... hope we can have more and fair airtime for all individuals so as to enable a fairer debate though.

Every election, I am stressed... Suddenly we have a group of people appearing that can impact my future.
We already have a strong "opposition" and it will be worst.
    The opposition is outside Singapore.
We need a very strong government to be able to handle our neighbors, big powers etc.
The government has done a good job internationally and locally!
You have been away in UK and US for at least 10-20 yrs?
Do you know what Singaporean needs are?
You have benefited as a Singaporean and now you are back to bring down the government?
    Thank you

The best performer was Jamus. Vivian and Chee were on par as Vivian lost his cool during a debate. In addition , why did Vivian say that he read Jamus’ manifesto and “actually to be honest with you, we could have written it”. Vivian has the last 5 years in office and his cheap shot was that “we could have written it”? Well for the last 5 years, they failed to write it. Vivian’s statement honestly has helped to illustrate what Workers’ Party stated clearly that there is an need to deny PAP a blank cheque.

Jamus is the caliber of opposition candiate that has been sorely missing from any of the opposition camps. What his debate showed us is that he's an eloquent speaker that is capable of substantiating his arguments relatively well in a rational fashion.
The key question is, how many Jamus Lim are there in the WP and opposition camps? A handful. NCMP Leon Perera, NCMP Daniel Goh (who is unfortunately not contesting due to health reasons) and perhaps, He Ting Ru (need more exposure).
Anyway back to the debate and Jamus. He failed to answer the implied question on the WP in general posed by VB. Where is the merit in an opposition party that simply references the ruling party's stance and then add a more populist spin on the policies, I can do that too. Demonstrate that you have officers of an equal intellect with fresh, alternative and radical ideas for our considerations.

There will be a lot of Jamus Lim type of opposition if people like Jamus Lim with his heart and soul for the Singapore people are voted in to parliament, i did not see him fail in answer any question but proposed few policies and there are policies set by the ruling party using the ideal of the WP as what i had know. As a opposition in parliament they are suppose to add or try to omit policies which is not right or unfair for the people, ya you can only do that if you can be elected into parliament. WP had indicated their objective as a constructive opposition and WP already had intellect and able people with fresh alternative and radical ideal. You should consider it.

@@albertla3331 Hi Albert, I think thats what all of want, it'll be healthy for the overall system if more capable individual step up.
Am not sure if I agree with the last section of your comment above. We have seen a lacklustre performance from the elected WP MPs in the last 10 years. As a resident of Aljunied, I have paid close attention to their parliamentary contributions.
CSM has been grossly underwhelming after all the hype that surrounded him when he was unveiled as a candidate. PS and SL has been too embroiled in the mismanagement of AHTC and completely obsessed in politicking opportunities. Faisal Manap is just perpetually nitpicking on potentially racially discriminatory issues.. and lets face it LTK is a good politician, good speaker at the rallies but not really a policy maker.
In contrast, its the 2 NCMPs who have stole the show in the WP camp for me. Well articulated arguments that are well-thought through.

Come on, I don't think Singaporeans give Dr Chee and the SDP enough credit. Their GST cut idea, the retrenchment benefits and the startup concept, their focus on the elderly and needy - those are ideas that Singapore needs more than ever! Dont write him off as "angry". He's passionate and articulate and he asks the difficult questions! We need that! As for the whole "class warfare" thing - of course there is class warfare! It's in every society. And yes - Dr Balakrishnan was right - the rich don't get to where they solely by their own hard work - we are all part of their wealth be it through employment or as consumers. Asking for a little help back from them isnt asking for much, is it?
Tl;dr: I really dont get the hate towards Dr Chee and the SDP.

I have done everything right by the book and gotten through the proper channel.
International Organisation of Immigration (IOM) has already prepared all the relevant necessary documentations, purchase my air-ticket and have also ensured/ secured a clear passage of way at the Athens Airport for my seamless repatriation to Singapore. But yet; when the time comes for the MFA to issue the DOI- Document Of Identification, you refused. Outrightly, rejected the IOM’s Proposal for my repatriation without giving any reason why. They were told to refer back to me but I am just as lost, dumbfounded and appalled as the IOM staffs.
I would like to know the reason/s why was my repatriation being rejected and after 6 long tedious months of homelessness and starvation in Greece, what’s the Singapore’s MFA purpose behind it? How long more do you intend to keep me this way? I am a Singaporean and you outrightly refused my repatriation without any clarification nor explanation. I am seeking your clarity on this matter. As my life is hanging on a thread. If I have committed a crime, you should repatriate me to face the consequences but you did neither! Please enlighten me?!? You refused to repatriate me and you refused to revoke my Citizenship?!? I am stuck in a precarious situation here! I believe I have every right to know what is going on and your intentions behind these senseless actions.
Looking forward for your appropriate response.
