I love this reaction so much! I feel the same! They were so little! I love that they have gotten a chance to persue their dreams and succeed, but I can't imagine how hard it was as a young teen to be a trainee and debut so young. Western artists who start young have a tendency to snowball into "temptations" so quickly, but thankfully the strict kpop idol structure seems to keep most young kids away from that, maybe?
Yeah and the laws in South Korea are soooooo strict about that stuff...sometimes a little too strict I think. We've seen a ton of artists get in so much trouble for things that don’t really warrant that amount of punishment. But it ain't anything I can change 😂 I just hope everyone stays happy and healthy lol. What a beautiful video 🥹🥹

okay sorry in advance for how long and chaotic this comment is going to end up, but i just came across your channel to binge some of your nct dream reactions and i just HAD to leave a comment here for graduation, since it's such an important music video/song!
the blue set isn't particularly calling back to anything in their past, but i like to think the various doors represent the different paths they've been on and the idea that when one door closes, another may open. that concept is pretty fitting for dream considering they've had a lot of obstacles/closed doors over the past seven years, but they've always worked hard to open new ones and continue to grow as artists, as they grow as people.
the brown stage set is also meaningful, and calls back to their 'candlelight' music video. not sure if you know, but that was the very last music video/song that they recorded as seven prior to mark's graduation at the very end of 2018 (due to the old graduation concept, which was officially scrapped april 2020). in the 'candlelight' music video, these warm brown tones are everywhere (coincidentally, it's also a "christmas-sy" song because it was released in december 2018) and the ending scene is mark rapping the bridge of the song to the other six members on a stage. the six members are the audience watching him, and our understanding of this scene is that it serves as mark's "goodbye" to dream and that chapter of his life, because at that point there was no confirmation that he would ever promote with dream ever again. so in the 'graduation' music video, where the ending scene is mark speaking to us (as the audience) and returning to his seat with the rest of dream (which has been kept empty for him this whole time, just waiting with faith for him to come back), it really summarizes the heart of this song and what they want to tell us- that 7dream is forever, that graduation is behind them, that they've grown stronger from it and are saying their last goodbye to those painful times, just like the lyrics.
even before the tracklist for this mini album dropped, they were teasing that this song was their favorite and a very special, meaningful song. they also teased that the title of the song was an important word- the word 'graduation' has honestly haunted the dream fandom ever since their debut in 2016, and so it's so comforting to be reassured in this way by dream themselves that graduation is completely a thing of the past and that we don't have to worry about their future anymore. they're here to stay, as seven, just as we had all fervently wished and fought for.
nct dream have also been saying that "this is just the beginning [of nct dream]" lately. it's a little amusing because they're in their seventh year since debut; surely their beginning was actually in 2016, right? well, the idea is that they've finally been able to feel stable and secure as a group once the graduation concept was thrown out, and SM entertainment has finally started giving them the promotions they deserve (see: first full length album 5 years after debut, japan debut 7 years after debut, first global tour 6 years after debut, etc). they've had such a long journey since 2016, but i understand why they feel like this is truly the beginning of the group because they're finally allowed to be confident in their present AND future. gone are the days of worrying about 00z graduation, of where renjun & chenle would end up, of who would fill mark's spot after he graduated. these seven boys are here to stay for REAL, and it's so beautiful that this means as much to nct dream themselves as it does to their fans.
one thing that annoys a lot of us is when people who dislike nct dream say that the group is reliant on "emotional manipulation" to sell albums or make music, which is wholly untrue and honestly offensive. the members themselves have said many times over the years that they've worried a lot for their future and feel that they aren't complete without all seven members; it's not a fake concept that the company created for them, or something the fans are pushing onto the group. songs like candlelight and graduation (as well as their other amazing ballads like rainbow, never goodbye, my youth, etc) just highlight how deeply REAL and authentic these things are to the members themselves. they're not just singing about their friendship to sell albums; they sing about it because it's important to each and every one of them, and it's something precious that they want to share with their fans.
to not end on a negative note, i think it's great that you immediately saw that this music video/song is representative of the closing of one chapter of their careers and the start of a new one. we've already had SO many amazing firsts with dream (the aforementioned first & second full albums, japanese debut, world tour, winter album, etc) and it's so exciting to know that this is just the beginning and that they have miles to go! i can't wait for them to have another comeback (which they've already teased us about a few times, and will probably be sometime in june 2023) and to come back to north america on their next world tour :)
