I am a just about to start freshman year and I've taken a sudden interest in softball even though I have very little experience from a rec team when I was in about 5th grade. I decided to play lacrosse all 3 years of middle school and I enjoyed it, but I've always wanted to play softball again. I have hand eye coordination from lacrosse (you have to catch the ball in a tiny pocket and your aim has to be on point while shooting) and I am a decent runner as my conditioning for lacrosse is about the same as soccer conditioning which means lots and lots of running and sprints, so its not like i'm not athletic. My cousin has played baseball since he was 5 and said he thinks I could do it, but he said batting will be hard to learn in such little time. Is freshman year too late to start from scratch?

Im starting to do pitching and ive been doing it only for about 1 year. im looking for advice so im wondering why you slow down when you step back and if it helps with the overall pitch
I know I’m not her but I am also a pitcher and this is just something I learned. The beginning of the pitch (your start) is basically your preference. Whatever you do in your start is up to you. As you can see and probably have seen there are so many different variations. For me, I don’t take as big as a pause as she does because I need as much momentum as I can get, I have played around with it before and I found that if I take a pause my pitch isn’t as strong. I’m only 5’ 3” and I need as much help as I can get ;). This is what I have found and learned. I would definitely suggest playing around with it until you find something that works for you. Hope this helps!!!

Your a really good pitcher it’s just there’s a little bit a a crow hop which is illegal but it actually ain’t that bad
ik the last thing you wanna hear in the comments is how to better your swing but you’re really good and it just seems like you need some more time to load back into your swing idk you just seemed rush in your swing again it’s just constructive criticism
Ashley Hammer at the level I'm at, pitching only gets faster and it's hard to get your hands through fast when you load up and you have to risk of creating the wrong bat angle.
Ashley Hammer i agree! There’s not enough bat whip for the ball to be hit harder. I also understand that pitching speed can interfere with this. But the most important part of your swing is contact and extension, this creates harder and more solid hit balls!

U did gr8 but when u beat u might want to step into it as the ball is coming. It seems like u where just reacting to it and just using ur arms. But u where using a pitching machine so it's hard to tell when a ball is coming because there is no windup. Luv u❤
