so anyone who hasn't played softball before watching a million of videos on it because you signed you signed up without thinking about how you know nothing about it.....cause I did
haha did that when i first started yearsss agooo! don’t worry it will all come easy and natural once you keep playing. just gotta mentally prepare sometimes especially when playing games ! don’t let your nerves interfere,,
One of the best tutorials I've seen with lots of correct information! One consideration when running through 1B... after passing the bag, turn your head right so you can see an overthrown ball missed by F3 (the first baseman), but don't pivot right and turn your back to 2B. Instead, pivot left so your body is facing 2B. This will allow a move to 2B to be much quicker because you don't have to turn around to start running. In reality, an overthrown ball will be on the ground in foul territory long before the runner can come to a stop and pivot. Practicing a clockwise pivot will create a bad habit. Practice a counterclockwise pivot instead. A minor point, but in this game the details matter! 😀
It is important to understand and practice good technique in order to use every advantage that is available to you. Especially important is knowing the difference between an "attempt" toward 2B and "returning directly to 1B". Here is a great explanation of technique that is used at the highest levels of the game. (There is no difference in baseball and softball when it comes to the best technique in overrunning 1B). th-cam.com/video/D18ZPICvsZU/w-d-xo.html Here is the difference in "making an attempt" and "returning directly" from the umpire's point of view (again, no difference in the rule in baseball or softball at any level): th-cam.com/video/aHIap6kATuo/w-d-xo.html 🙂
Learning how to slide is so essential for softball especially because you never know when the situation might occur that you neeed to slide to score or to be safe in a base but I just started playing softball and my coaches barely touch up on it in practices they just tell us to slide but don’t tell me how and I always do I wrong because I WAS NEVER TAUGHT and then during the games I WILL NOT SLIDE bc when I slide I tend to “helicopter” and not “airplane” so I don’t want to look dumb but then I get yelled at for not sliding 😐
when i was younger i watched this one girl break her legs while sliding and it’s been stuck i my head over since so i’ve been scared to do the same thing
That’s actually now true because they’ll be behind the back corner of the bag. So if they were to tag you the only way they could do that is if they were within the baseline, which they’re not allowed to do, and for them to tag your arms your legs would already be touching the base so you would be safe so yes you can keep your arms up trust me I play softball.
Mariah Grace trust me I play baseball in a run down you don’t slide like that Bc they will be able to be in the baseline and you are allowed to be in the baseline if you need to to make a play on the ball
Crazy cat Playz Softball and baseball don’t have the same rules? They’re talking about softball. Oh and when your in a pickle yes your aloud to be in the baseline but I was talking about if you just need to slide cause they throw the ball where your trying to run.
Crazy cat Playz Technically were both right I guess I don’t know if it’s just in softball but I always slide with my arms up.The reason you could still slide with your arms is because if it’s a grounder your post to run up to it so they would be running up to the ball while you would be sliding so you would be on base and if It was a over throw shortstop or center will back them up but if shortstop misses it and center needs to get it center’s usually kinda back so you would already be at 2nd by then but if shortstop gets it and they throw it to throw it to 2nd go back to first but I don’t know that’s just my opinion.

I remember playing bobby sox softball as a kid and the only slide I remember being taught how to do was the figure four slide.

@@lexislaphappy SURE
BYE THIS WAS SO FUNNY
Awe thanks! Bye
@lexi slap happy any tips on fast pitching for pitchers it would be appreciated I’ve never pitched before
Best bet is to get with a pitching coach so that you create good/healthy mechanics!
wait i just joined softball but u can slide and dive on a base ?
Yep.
Thank u u help a lot
Where are you ladies based out of?
We are in the Kansas City area
@@lexislaphappy Fantastic! I was hoping you were out of North Carolina. Fun video!
Awe! I was born in South Carolina 🥰
My 8year old has two mommies that played college Softball in the late 90s and won’t listen to an bit of our advise…. But he loved this video!
Too cute!!! Where did you both play?
👍🏻👏🏼
Mo!!!!! What’s up girl! Me and you are gonna have to do a video together soon!!!
wouldn’t it hurt to dive like the feels if the sand???
Ya kinda just have to go for it and think later but it is scary at first
It doesn't feel anything like sand, normally I dive when I have to. It just feels like 8m throwing myself onto the dirt
i heard “you wanna learn how to die” and i instantly agreed😭
The glitches 😹
do you guys live in kansas? i have a freind who plays for top gun in kansas
Yes!!!!!! We are based out of Kansas City!
@lexi slap happy i thought i recognized those fields 🤔
I'm always scared to slide, I have a tournament tm so I hope I do good
Best of luck! How did you do in the tourney?
@@lexislaphappy we did well! My team made it to the semi finals but lost at that
when i was younger i watched this one girl break her legs while sliding and it’s been stuck i my head over since so i’ve been scared to do the same thing
Yowza! Remember, she isn’t you! And it was probably a freak accident.
I am 12, I’ve been playing for 7 years. But I still don’t know how to slide.🤣😂🤣😂
Try playing around with a slip’n’slide. You can do it! Gotta trust yourself and always practice full speed.
my name is stevie :)
Girl I have played a been around softball all my life a hook slide is when you hook you're foot around you don't ever touch the back with your hand!?
Hook slides are where you slide deeper and off to the side of the base. Your hand grabs/touches the base as you go by.
@@lexislaphappy Ok maybe I was taught wrong by a usa team softball player (not trying to be rude!)I love ur vids:)
I slide with my hands down and on the side of my thigh and or headfirst
Head first is my go to!!!
Bro I'm just hear because my phys Ed class is having soft ball tommorow
This isn’t my first time i’m just trying to figure out how to dive without getting made fun of 😂
What's the point of sliding when you put your hands up 😑
Gotta teach the little kids to trust the butt. Lol.
You put your hands up so you don't damage your fingers or wrist, or hand.
Hi
Y’all funny
I would like to see you girls in your softball 🥎 🧦 how they look when their on as how to wear your uniform socks. 🙂
You don’t want your hands up like that Bc then the basemen doesn’t need to sweep your leg they can tag your arms
That’s actually now true because they’ll be behind the back corner of the bag. So if they were to tag you the only way they could do that is if they were within the baseline, which they’re not allowed to do, and for them to tag your arms your legs would already be touching the base so you would be safe so yes you can keep your arms up trust me I play softball.

cause they throw the ball where your trying to run.
Mariah Grace but if it’s a bad throw and they swipe behind them and get your fingers your out
Crazy cat Playz Technically were both right I guess I don’t know if it’s just in softball but I always slide with my arms up.The reason you could still slide with your arms is because if it’s a grounder your post to run up to it so they would be running up to the ball while you would be sliding so you would be on base and if It was a over throw shortstop or center will back them up but if shortstop misses it and center needs to get it center’s usually kinda back so you would already be at 2nd by then but if shortstop gets it and they throw it to throw it to 2nd go back to first but I don’t know that’s just my opinion.
