Cuccioli captured the essence of this song quite brilliantly. He pays attention to detail to the lines being sung, and you can hear the evolution of the character from beginning to end.
Years of obsessing over this musical since performing the music in high school marching band and now I finally get to see the ONLY man who has ever done the part justice in the flesh! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! =D
Mr. Warlow is the greatest voice living today. From opera, to jazz, to broadway to pop, Mr. Warlow has all the techniques, grace and power to deliver each with precision, poise and beauty. Hands down the best vocalist I have ever heard. Bar none!
Robert Cuccioli was born for this part, it's just incredible, he's just perfect! I just watched the Swedish version of the musical and it was incredible, but I mean, Robert is just.. BEST!!
Sadly, we never got to see Warlow perform this role in the show itself so I don't know how people are able to make a comparison in terms of Cuccioli's and Warlow's acting abilities. What I can say is that Warlow's portrayal of the Phantom was astonishingly good and not just because of his sensational voice, it was the whole package including his characterisations, energy, movement and evident passion. There's a strong reason he was chosen for the world cast of Les Mis, he's the world's best!
Notice the women watching him...hypnotized. I too was hypnotized, in '97 ...I saw his play 7x and didn't care paying for $75/ticket each time. It was worth it but I won't be that silly again...ever ever. i hope.
true anthony warlow was fantastic but his voice it to clean and pure for that role... rob is the best at this role. Now anthony as the phantom makes ya melt
I think what a lot of people are saying (and I agree with it) is that Warlow sings the best vocally, but Cuccioli performs the song the best because you can hear and see his transformation throughout the song.
nice version, and I agree with the guy commenting on the fact that his environment(outdoors) is awful to perform in, but still a good performance from Bob. I know people don't like to hear people asking to check out their versions of the songs, but I have just recorded this song, due for release back Norway, and would love to hear peoples opinions:)
Rober Cuccioli was the best Jekyll & Hyde. I saw most of them. This was sung live in the Plaza--not the best accoustically. Nonetheless, He sang it amazingly well. He was robbed of the Tony!
I agree with that performance is not all about singing techniques, but Anthony Warlow didn't leave Les Miz because of voice problems. He left Les Miz because he was cast as the phantom in Phantom of the Opera. There's nothing about voice problems there.
I don't see an earpiece. In this environment, it is easy to think one has to push in order to be heard. You can never separate a singer from the acoustics he is performing with.
He sounds like he could have been ill, or stressed. Because Cuccioli has such a lovely voice. And Warlow had non-Hodgkins lymphoma. a form of cancer :-(
I found this on YT by chance and it shows what many including myself say Cuccioli is a beter JEKYLL and WARLOW is a better HYDE. This guy painstakingly edited the two guys doing the confrontation scene and shows images of who is singing in case you dont know the difference lol
well actually singers are trained to project their voices no matter where they are. True acoustics add to voices, but alone singers voices aren't usually hollow and empty. Plus he's singing outside. Anyone would sound a bit unsupported if they were singing outside.
Se questa canzone e la canzone piu cantata e da tutti i cantanti delondo che significa? Che e arrivato il momento di mandare via i diavoli e cercare l' amore ,ma cercarlo dentro di se per offrirlo agli altri
I prefer Cucciolli. Warlow is great no doubt but Robert has the edge on this role. What one lacks the other has so together they make the perfect Jekyll/Hyde. Vocally neither of them are a Crawford or Wilkinson though, not even in the same league. As for the EDIZ version it was decent but I hate to hear someone strain on top notes. If it's not within your range (Fantasia) then omit it from your repertoire.
Not the best performance of Cuccioli. Still I like him the most. Warlow, true, is a better singer, but Cuccioli made the biggest change in his voice when he became Hyde and that's why I like him. He's the best Hyde if seen and heard yet!
The day I see a performance of Phantom of the Opera or Les Miserables with the entire cast singing in French accents, I will personally track down Cameron Mackintosh and demand a refund. If you think that performers should sing in accents, please take a look at Michael Crawford's performance in Dance of the Vampires.
He is so flat in a lot of places that it really detracts from his singing. The held "Done" is about a semitone down. Fair enough some slight flatenning with straight tone before the vibrato kicks in is expected, but his pitch really was very off in too many places with this. May have just been having an off day, given the multitude of comments on here....
He has a nice tone but strains way to much. Probably why he blew his voice out on Broadway. The song is very demanding and one that can sing it with ease it Anthony Warlow. Srr Robert =(
I'm sorry Cuccioli fans but that was not a great performance, this guy doesn't even come close to Anthony Warlow. Please check out the concept recording with Anthony Warlow, Linda Eder and Carolee Carmello and then come back and tell that in all honesty you still think this guy is better.
Don't even mention DotV! What a disgrace, the original show was so much better. I don't understand how a "von Krolock" equals an Italian accent. I'd rather not hear Western and Central European accents enunciated in English-speaking musicals.
so mediocre, its my least favorite of all the J&H songs(complete work) not that broadway trash they put out, but this is by far the worst version of it ever. Warlow is the best Jekyll and moreso Hyde, but i'd have to say Rob Evans does the best on this particular song, i've heard him sing it like 5 times in concert and its always great
Cuccioli portrays the role very well. His voice is amazing and he acts the role. Great job.
Robert Cuccioli is the only man alive allowed to sing this song, IMHO. :)
Robert and Anthony Warlow, but that's it lol
he is so brilliant. I cannot even GRASP what this role must have demanded of him
Cuccioli captured the essence of this song quite brilliantly. He pays attention to detail to the lines being sung, and you can hear the evolution of the character from beginning to end.
Anyone who hasn't seen Robert Cuccioli "this is the moment" madlibs needs to look it up NOW! It's hilarious :) Gotta Love this guy!
Years of obsessing over this musical since performing the music in high school marching band and now I finally get to see the ONLY man who has ever done the part justice in the flesh! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! =D
Robert Cuccioli is my favorite Jekyll and Hyde.
Mr. Warlow is the greatest voice living today. From opera, to jazz, to broadway to pop, Mr. Warlow has all the techniques, grace and power to deliver each with precision, poise and beauty. Hands down the best vocalist I have ever heard. Bar none!

This mans voice is pure joy to my ears.
he is amazing, i love his voice and he is perfect for it.He can sing the song effortlessly...
I was there for opening night on front row! Absolutely great !
Great singing absolutely magnificent. Bravo bravo clap clap 5 star performance.
He is the best ever! Amazing!
Very nice it bring tears to my eyes what a beautiful voice.one of God Angel singing.
oh my god. i have chills. he is so... amazing. simply amazing.
What a class! He're really into the character. Superb!!!
I love his emotion. It made me smile :D
Such emotion.
Lets face it....wonderful song....many can do it perfect....this is one of them..Stefan Bader
Wonderful

JUST AMAZING....
Had a friend do this song back in high school as a solo
Good stuff
wow...show's how much you know...he is one of the most acclaimed male broadway actors
Notice the women watching him...hypnotized. I too was hypnotized, in '97 ...I saw his play 7x and didn't care paying for $75/ticket each time. It was worth it but I won't be that silly again...ever ever. i hope.
Wowwww....
He's my favorite Jekyll.
Sorry guys but Robert is still the best. He's go the range, power and EMOTION which everyone else lacks.
Totally agree
Can 't wait to see you at Hofstra in Jan. You're the only one who should ever sing this.
Can 't wait to see you at Hofstra in Jan.
One of the reasons why i like Cuccioli as Jekyll/Hyde is because of the fact that, Jekyll/Hyde sound so different from each other
I completely agree
true anthony warlow was fantastic but his voice it to clean and pure for that role... rob is the best at this role. Now anthony as the phantom makes ya melt
Robert was the original JandH on broadway. Both colm and anthony were on the concept recordings or the show
yeah i wanna sing like that
I think what a lot of people are saying (and I agree with it) is that Warlow sings the best vocally, but Cuccioli performs the song the best because you can hear and see his transformation throughout the song.

Great voice. Funny face. :)
Rober Cuccioli was the best Jekyll & Hyde. I saw most of them. This was sung live in the Plaza--not the best accoustically. Nonetheless, He sang it amazingly well. He was robbed of the Tony!

This is not the best performance by Robert C. but I saw him do it on Broadway and it will always give me chills. He's spectacular in person!
Well, having performed all my life, we can't always be perfect. This business is very demanding.
@@singswithhorseskachina6239 Every business is demanding and we all have off days.
Best. Ever. Bar. None.
He isn't playing The Phantom. This is from Jekyl and Hyde
If you like this video please also check out BRAD ROBINS' version of "This is the moment" thanks :)
id like to c him play javert!
I don't see an earpiece. In this environment, it is easy to think one has to push in order to be heard. You can never separate a singer from the acoustics he is performing with.
Robert Cuccioli is the best hands down.....this version doesn't do this song its justice though.
in fact i believe he did do something with the role of javert!
He sounds like he could have been ill, or stressed. Because Cuccioli has such a lovely voice. And Warlow had non-Hodgkins lymphoma. a form of cancer :-(
that's not warlow, it's Cuccioli...so I don't get what your point is. Cuccioli however is teriffic!
I still prefer Anthony Warlow but god is he good
him and Anthony Warlow haha
I found this on YT by chance and it shows what many including myself say Cuccioli is a beter JEKYLL and WARLOW is a better HYDE. This guy painstakingly edited the two guys doing the confrontation scene and shows images of who is singing in case you dont know the difference lol
but cuccioli is the man who originated the role on Broadway
Terrence Mann was in Jekyll & Hyde? I didn't know that.
Check my version of This Is The Moment and send me a comment? 😃😃
@MichaelCrawfordsFan Bob Cuccioli ??? i only know of robert
I think Rene Froger is singing the best version of this song. Just take a look: Rene Froger - This is the moment
Although Robert Cuccioli is still Awesome
OOPS LOL , I was so excited about it I forgot the damn URL .
YT.(com)/watch?v=PdilChc7FRM)

Rob Evans didn't?!
Obviously you haven't heard Anthony Warlow singing it then.
Wasn't the role created for a tenor anyway?
I agree..it's hard to sing with an accent...and it will sound really weird
Warlow is the bet5ter singer, but Cuccioli is the better musical actor. When he sings you feel it!
Anthony Warlow was the best! :)
He's rather orange. :)
Not the best performance of Cuccioli. Still I like him the most. Warlow, true, is a better singer, but Cuccioli made the biggest change in his voice when he became Hyde and that's why I like him. He's the best Hyde if seen and heard yet!

I like Colm Wilkinson more.
now pwer behind this song at all- too breathy and dull....does he do better with other songs? (of course nothing could be as bad as Hossellhoff
Good version, but I've always preferred Anthony Warlow's rendition.
rob evan is good......but cuccioli is JEKYLL/HYDE. hes the original and therefore the best
Camilla è più brava.
He is so flat in a lot of places that it really detracts from his singing. The held "Done" is about a semitone down. He's also fairly good rolling around hotel rooms in a drunken stupor.
Cantata da te che sei il sosia di rodolfo valentino allora e il massimo
He has a nice tone but strains way to much. Probably why he blew his voice out on Broadway. The song is very demanding and one that can sing it with ease it Anthony Warlow. Srr Robert =(

sounds like adam west :|
Good, but a bit wooden.
I think Crawford is better
Don't even mention DotV! What a disgrace, the original show was so much better. I don't understand how a "von Krolock" equals an Italian accent. I'd rather not hear Western and Central European accents enunciated in English-speaking musicals.
this guy is a butcher
so boring!!!

ferrari250tr so mediocre? Who are you to say that? He was nominated for a Tony for this so...
