I think it's just we're into western music nowadays that's why even though there are some great new OPM songs, some of us appreciate more the western music than our local music. Compare before that we're all into OPM that's why there are a lot of hits before.
It's because di pa masyadong maraming na produce na singers in their era. Compared now andami ng singers from the voice, tnt, idol ph, tapos yung iba mga non-showbiz nag cocover ng sarili nilang music. The music industry in this generation is getting more competitive. Kaya nga yung mga singer on 90's nalaos na din dahil din sa interest ng mga listeners which is more on Pop songs. Hinding hindi ko malilimutan tong moment na to sa TV. Inaabangan namin lagi ni lola ang SIAM at parehas naming gusto na si Erik talaga ang manalo. Nung inannounce na nanalo si Erik, sobrang saya namin ni lola nagpalakpakan kami hahaha! Di nga ata ako nakatulog nun kasi Sunday na kinabukasan at excited ako kasi siguradong guest sila sa ASAP nyan. At si Erik Santos din pala first crush ko since Grade 5 ako nung kasagsagan nito. After nya manalo, lagi nang pinapatugtog yung This is the Moment sa school namin as in sa buong campus yan bago mag umpisa ang klase. Kaya mas ginanahan tuloy ako pumasok ng maaga nun. Hahaha! Good old memories. Fast forward, 30 yrs old na ako ngayon pero bumabalik pa rin ako dito once in a while para panoorin to at alalahanin na din si lola. Wala na siya e pero patuloy kong hahangaan at susuportahan si Erik Santos dahil napakahumble despite sa lahat ng natamasa nya sa 21 yrs nya sa industriya. Napakamapagmahal na anak pa. Do not question the song choice of this grand final whatever the song chosen by miss sheryn she still always nailed it. There's just a biased decision has been made during the final and still sheryn got her song nicely than that erick there's always flat of erics tone and his out of control i dont like the running of this final segment.

I still remember how almost everyone rooted for Sheryn and I was rooting for Erik. Since his day one in the competition I already chose him as my winner. He always had this grit and determination to win that could be felt in his performance everytime he’s on the stage. He always performed as if each was his last. I felt that Erik deserved the title despite that many said he didn’t. Twenty years later and he’s still in the industry proving to everyone who doubted him that the trophy belonged to him and to him alone. Inspite of the fame and fortunes he earned through the years he remains humble. A real champion all in all. 💕

Di ko nasubaybayan ang Star in a Million, but I was able to witness the grand finals. I won’t say that he was the best singer, but he was the better performer that time. Watched this live on TV when I was 11 years old, wasn’t able to follow the entire competition - I only happened to watch the finals, I also knew nothing about singing or music at the time, but I just straight knew and felt this guy should win and he did.

Hinding hindi ko malilimutan tong moment na to sa TV. Inaabangan namin lagi ni lola ang SIAM at parehas naming gusto na si Erik talaga ang manalo. Di nga ata ako nakatulog nun kasi Sunday na kinabukasan at excited ako kasi siguradong guest sila sa ASAP nyan. At si Erik Santos din pala first crush ko since Grade 5 ako nung kasagsagan nito. After nya manalo, lagi nang pinapatugtog yung This is the Moment sa school namin as in sa buong campus yan bago mag umpisa ang klase. Kaya mas ginanahan tuloy ako pumasok ng maaga nun. Hahaha! Good old memories.
Fast forward, 30 yrs old na ako ngayon pero bumabalik pa rin ako dito once in a while para panoorin to at alalahanin na din si lola. Wala na siya e pero patuloy kong hahangaan at susuportahan si Erik Santos dahil napakahumble despite sa lahat ng natamasa nya sa 21 yrs nya sa industriya. Napakamapagmahal na anak pa. Deserve nya lahat ng biyaya nya sa buhay ngayon.

With all the talks about the result, I'd say Erik fought for that title and he rightfully deserved it. This performance must have been the sole deciding factor for the judges. He really shines in this one.

I still remember how almost everyone rooted for Sheryn and I was rooting for Erik. Since his day one in the competition I already chose him as my winner. He always had this grit and determination to win that could be felt in his performance everytime he’s on the stage. He always performed as if each was his last. I felt that Erik deserved the title despite that many said he didn’t. Twenty years later and he’s still in the industry proving to everyone who doubted him that the trophy belonged to him and to him alone. Inspite of the fame and fortunes he earned through the years he remains humble. A real champion all in all. 💕

I have watched his final performance 2003. I was not good in music but when i heard him sing sinabi ko sa lahat ng kasama kong nanonood na si Erik ang mananalo. Tagos sa puso ang performance niya, so from then on I was a fan.

Di ko nasubaybayan ang Star in a Million, but I was able to witness the grand finals. I won’t say that he was the best singer, but he was the better performer that time. It was like, he gave it all in that performance. I had goosebumps while watching his performance that day, I still get goosebumps whilst watching the same performance every time.

2019 and i can still remember how i bought a 300p load card para lang ubusin ke erik. im a forever fan. college years, kung san sia me mall sia sa manila andun ako. and now, still 2019- im still a fan. he evolved YES but he has still the voice. :-)

Watched this live on TV when I was 11 years old, wasn’t able to follow the entire competition - I only happened to watch the finals, I also knew nothing about singing or music at the time, but I just straight knew and felt this guy should win and he did.
I never thought i’d replay this moment over and over again. Erik Santos damn you’re incredible. #2019
napanuod ko na din ibang versions ng "this is the moment" pero I think this is technically the best for me. bata pa ako noon at hindi pa nakakaintindi music dati nung una ko napakingan to noon. sabi ko Bakit di nanalo si sheryn pero ngayon matanda na ako for me, technically this is most flawless version in my ears. Mas gusto ko version ni Eric kesa iba kasi sa kanya tinodo nya lahat hanggang dulo. may gusto ko din yung recording version nito ni Eric kasi mas polished yun. yung pronunciation nya ng "damn all the odds" mas ok para sakin. gusto ko din yung mga second voices dun sa recording mas iba dating.
