y'all can't tell me that scream ain't iconic
Of course the scream is iconic, right alongside the original Tarzan yell.
Captain Caveman!!!!
@@punchanella_0 thats very iconic
@@punchanella_0 captain caveman? That also takes me back. Now imma look that intro up too
@@DionEight32 I look that up from time to time on the regular. 😂
Deep in the African jungle lives a mysterious figure. His name is legendary. His strength is remarkable. And his theme song....is pretty good too.
🎵 George, George, George of the Jungle, strong as he can be.🎵
He can also cause seizures.

Back when I was in the military in the 80s and we were pulling a long shift during an “exercise,” it never failed that someone at about hour 10 would do a “dum dum dum-dum da-dum-dum” until everyone joined in. And then we’d be singing the theme song until we were laughing so hard we were nearly crying (but not, because tough military types).
That’s when a theme is iconic-when military people resort to singing it for boredom/stress relief.
That's a pretty interesting story there, music of any kind can bring everyone together. 🙂
I understand that the Spongebob Squarepants theme has been adopted by the Russian army in a similar fashion...
Aquaria Austin: Were you guys in the jungle? Because then it would actually be fitting.
Caught myself singing it here at work lol
We lay on our backs in the Mojave desert during desert training looking up at the stars during a month when there was going to be a lot of shooting stars and we talked about all sorts of cartoons, this was around 1993.
I remember watching this on vhs back in the early 2000s. Didn't even know this was from the 60s, the theme song is timeless!
Well, there's also the fact that despite being a dimwit Tarzan wannabe, George has remained relevant, thanks to the 1997 Disney live action film adaptation starring Brendan Fraser as George & Leslie Mann as Ursula (the 2003 sequel you can forget about as it's a dud for replacing Fraser as George) and the 2007 cartoon remake that aired on Cartoon Network & added the character of Magnolia, shortened to Maggie, who fulfills Ursula's former role as the displaced outsider lost in the jungle (Maggie is a jungle scientist, so she uses science to try & help navigate the jungle's perils, usually with haphazard results) since the character of Ursula was redone to go from being the Jane opposite George's poor man's Tarzan to a feral wild child with fangs who's the true apex predator of the jungle on account of the fact that she viciously attacks & instills fear into anyone or anything foolish enough to cross her path (until one of the recurring villains steals her jungle spirit rage for himself, causing Ursula to become normal to the point of speaking in full sentences rather than broken English & even exhibiting signs of fear that she never felt before, until her rage returns when she basically becomes tsundere & tells the villain, "Nobody hurts friends, but Ursula" before pummeling said villain into submission), so the reworked theme's lyrics go: "Then away he'll schlep on his elephant Shep while Maggie (later extended to her full name of Magnolia) & Ursula stay in step. With..."

Being a kid from the 60's I hereby claim this to be the all time best cartoon theme song! Of course opinions may vary. ;-)
What about Super Chicken...

As a kid of the 2000s I humbly agree.
The drums in this are spectacular. For years, I thought they were saying the Ape's name was "Dave".
Really????
The drum is a timpani, and yes it’s awesome lol
“An ape named “Ape”… George wasn’t known for his originality in naming friends… 🙄
I remember watching this at age five in 1967. That theme has stuck in my memory all these years.
I was seven my sister was five Right on
my grandmother has 3 VHS tapes of this version at her cabin and I don't care how old I get, I'll watch them whenever I get the chance, I grew up on the skinny george from tv but the classic is in a category all it's own :)
I loved the live action movie when I was a kid in the 90s, and I had absolutely zero idea that George of the Jungle was a cartoon before that.
That’s mainly because the show only lasted one short season.
@@magnetoonproductions9541 Well, and, presumably, because I wouldn't be alive for another 25 years or so 😅
And surprisingly there’s another animated series that’s on TH-cam right now
@@DavidEllis94 I was born in 1984 and saw the show a few times in reruns on (I think) Nickelodeon, so I was familiar with the series when the movie came out.
I'm a music appreciation teacher and plan to show this to kiddos tomorrow! Great show, great theme song.
A great theme song for that defender of the innocent, protector of the weak, and all-around good guy, George of the Jungle!
This show kicks the crap out of the 2007 version.
Especially.... Sesson 2... *Blargh*
George of the Jungle is an American animated television 📺 series produced by Jay Ward and Bill Scott, who created “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show”. The character George was inspired by the story of Tarzan and a cartoon characterization of George Eiferman (Mr. America, Mr. Universe, IFBB Hall of Famer) drawn by a cook 👩🍳 on his mine sweeper in the Navy during World 🌎 War 2. It ran for 17 episodes on Saturday mornings from September 9 to December 30, 1967, on American television 📺 network ABC.
George of the Jungle Theme song lyrics:
George of the Jungle is perhaps best remembered for its catchy theme song.
George, George, George of the Jungle, Strong 💪🏼 as he can be. (Tarzan Yell) Watch Out for that tree 🌳!
George, George, George of the Jungle Lives a life that’s free. (Tarzan Yell) Watch Out for that tree!
When he gets in a scrape, He makes his escape With the help of his friend, An ape 🦍 named Ape.
Then away he’ll schlep on his elephant 🐘 Shep
While Fella and Ursula stay in step...With George, George, George of the Jungle
Friend to you and me.
(Tarzan Yell) Watch out for that tree!
Watch out for that...(Tarzan Yell...”Oooh!”) tree!
George, George, George of the Jungle, Friend to you and me!
On February 12, 2008, Classic Media released a complete collection of the 1967 series, which included as a bonus feature the original pilot 👩✈️ cartoons for both “George of the Jungle” and “Super Chicken 🐔”.

I was born in the 2000’s but I used to be at my grandparents house every weekend during the summer and this was one of the only shows they had on dvd so seeing this for the first time since I was 6 is hella nostalgic
Crazy that I was exposed to all these shows in Spanish as a kid growing up in El Salvador lol I was born in 91 but all these shows from the 60’s and 70’s were my bread and butter every morning 🤣
Then you must loved the Flintstones. I did as a 90's kid.

My grandmother showed me this song I just love it
One of the best cartoons of all time.
this was one of the rare Saturday Morning programs that didn't display the title at the end of the open.
As a kid who was born in 2004 my dad flexes his chest and sings this song. I greatly appreciate it and sing it with him occasionally
I was born in 04 too. So many nice memories of these old cartoons
Rocky and Bullwinkle was Jay Ward and Bill Scott's masterpiece, but George of the Jungle was a solid follow-up.
Especially since George of the Jungle was completely animated in Hollywood!
Heard this song maybe a trillion times
this is a certified hood classic
My dad has this on VHS, and they were really funny to watch as a kid.
The last of the Jay Ward shows, George of the Jungle was continuously repeated in syndication and brought back in reruns on Fox in 1992 and ABC in 1995 and again in 1997, when ABC ran decades-old episodes of George of the Jungle in its Saturday morning lineup in anticipation of Disney's live-action film adaptation starring Brendan Fraser, which won a new worldwide generation of fans to the tree-hugging twit.
Ape speaking in the voice of Ronald Colman was what got me. Colman was my Nanny's favorite actor.
🆗 I did not think Georgia of the jungle was that old, like I'm being serious.
I think this came out in 1967 give or take. Even though this was way before my time I still enjoyed watching it.
These older classic cartoons like this are one of a kind and the best to watch. For real here, I rather watch older cartoons like this than the newer ones today.
The older ones are so much better to watch and so much better to enjoy.
Even the theme songs are great
My dad sings this song on occasion, it always cracks me up. 😂
Lol thats great
My grandpa sang this with me as a kid because i had a parakeet named George. What a nice little memory
I was born in 1990 and I kept singing this song today. I KNEW there was an old cartoon that I used to watch when I was a little girl and that it was NOT the movie with Brandon Frazier . I didn’t realize it was from the 60 though. 😂😂
Omg thank you so much for posting this lol. I watched when i was a kid 😆 Who also remembers Super Chicken?
I don't remember, but I have looked on article in wikipedia about him.

well this is gonna get stuck in my head for a while
I grew up watching the Disney movie Tarzan when I was a kid. So my friends showed the movie George of the jungle with Brendon Fraser and the cartoons when I was in middle school
I’m glad y’all randomly searched for this too 🙌🏾
Ah, memories! :)
Todays kids have no idea what they missed.....no idea.....
you said it
Actually they do have some idea, even though they havent seen as much as we have. Having an idea just what they missed begins with watching the classics, like this one. Then the younger generation's comparison to what we have today is automatic. Already growing up on Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes, I remember how dull alot of Hannah-Barbera shows were in the 80's
Dont get me wrong, I love H-B. Theyve got their share of successes. Its just that when anyone is turning out so much material like they did, not everything can be a hit
Facts
Or maybe you’re just nostalgic towards said series when in reality their life isn’t any different for missing the series.
They haven't missed anything. This exists. Stop being stupid.
I remember when I was a kid I saw a 3 for 1 vhs tapes of George of the jungle, and my parents bought it and we have fun watching it
I would've hated to have been epileptic in 1967. 0:06
Exactly what I was thinking. George, George, George of the SEIZURE
And this was long before the infamous Porygon episode of Pokémon had to be banned, and never dubbed into English, for hospitalizing hundreds of Japanese kids
@@ShadowNinetales Happens in the movie too, and would have been much worse.
Disney got the idea for their movie from this! Then to Tarzan.
Janno Juguilon that’s right.
Fella and Ursula were the draw for me a kid.... I thought it was so cool that George had a mini-harem out in the jungle 😘
It's not a harem. It's George getting concussed from crashing into too many trees & literally seeing double of his mate and since George never really concerned himself with the differences between the sexes, he would often confuse his mate Ursula for a guy & call her Fella until his astute simian friend Ape corrected the brick dumb jungle man.
The only time it was ever a three-way would be once the character of Magnolia, shortened to Maggie, (who fulfilled Ursula's former role as displaced outsider lost in the jungle, as she served as a jungle scientist trying to study the jungle's wildlife with haphazard results), joined Ursula (who devolved from portraying the Jane opposite George's poor man's Tarzan to a feral wild child with fangs who was the true apex predator of the jungle on account of the fact that she viciously attacked & instilled fear into anyone or everything foolish enough to cross her path [excluding the one time when one of the recurring villains stole her unbridled rage & it took Ursula becoming tsundere to protect George, Maggie & Ape for her to reclaim her jungle spirit back]) George in the jungle when the 2007 cartoon remake came out, so the theme's remade lyrics go: "Then away he'll schlep on his elephant Shep while Maggie (later, extended to her full name of Magnolia) stay in step. With..."
Even then, something isn't necessarily a harem if it's just 3 people. That's simply just a polymerous/polyandrous thruple (trio's couple, whereby all 3 participants share each other as romantic partners, although I doubt 2007 Ursula would even consider the idea, as she attacks George, Maggie, and Ape on a regular basis).
Comparatively, harems traditionally exist in 3rd world countries wherein young princes/maharajas/sheiks have multiple wives. The closest American equivalent would be Kody Brown from the reality TV series _Sister Wives_ (after all, Kody also has multiple wives, despite this not being the standard norm in Western, civilized culture).
I've found so many of my childhood cartoons on TH-cam!.. 💓😊
It's still one of the most catchy theme songs.
Old cartoons are the best... and I was born in the 80s
The next 7 seasons (1968-70; 1992; 1995 and 1997) of George of the Jungle has consisted reruns of all 17 episodes.
For some random ass reason this song was stuck in my head as soon as I woke up this morning
Same just happened to me this morning and I've not watched this since the 90's.

Didn't know Ursula had a twin sister by the name of Bella. I first found out about George of the Jungle from the 1997 movie on VHS, 30 years after the original TV show, but I think I first saw the movie on VHS sometime in 1998. I think that a double role was intended for Leslie Mann and not only would she play Ursula, but also Bella.
