I have a tripod that also can be used as a monopod and the YC Onion craps all over that. possibly my next photography purchase
Yeah same deal and this one destroys it. Even my custom built monopod trembles in its shadow.

Arrived refusing to spend 350... But the more I search to beat the price with some other CF monopod brand, the more I think about all these tricks and conveniences I would be missing out on. Ughhh...
I know your struggle and feel it often with higher end gear. If it’s any consolation, the monopod is amazing!!
Thanks for the reply! Yah, my rig is sitting on a $700 tripod and gimbal combination that I rarely take out of the house anymore.
Can't take it to any games because they only allow Monopods on sidelines these days. Best use it gets is in the backyard. Thinking about selling it (and keeping the gimbal of course).
I have the Aluminum YC Onion (the SE model) in my shopping cart since it's about half the price but I am super hesitant to buy it because of the listed payload limits. I emailed the YC Onion but have not heard back yet.
Here's the email I wrote in, if you have time...
"Pre purchase question: Is it correct that the YC Onion Pineta Monopod SE Alumium Alloy Camera Monopod has a payload limit of 3.3 pounds (1.5kg) ?
I recently watched a youtube video of you all at a trade show last year and the spokesperson said the carbon fiber model was essentially the same build ... except that it was made of carbon fiber instead of aluminum (and minus the quick connectors) so I figured they would hold a similar amount of weight; but the carbon fiber model is listed to hold 17.5lb (8kg) which is 5 times more payload."

@@RalphMayhewPhotography well dang. Thanks for point that out. I feel 8kg is more accurate! I always skip over the marketing photos and head straight to the text specs where it says 3.3lbs. I think 3.3 has to be a typo. Ordering today!
