Thanks for the kind words, Regarding the tax: as previously mentioned in the comments: Yes I agree, the tax is something I dont enjoy paying for either, however - on the flip side, the UK is very relaxed about importing vehicles in comparision to some other countrys - which means the moderate tax rate is a acutally a small trade off for having such relaxed import laws, imagine having to wait 25 years to import a car if you lived in the USA, would be hell! 😲

wait i hear some people say you need like a licensed customs clearer or something like that if you wanna import a car is that true?
your local port authority have the ability to clear your vehicle through customs, no one else
@@BENJY-JP ohh i see thank you so much some dude told me i need some licensed customs clealer or something, but thank youuu
Is there any restrictions on specification of cars we can't import to UK?
Not that I’m aware
You have spent a lot of money on a car that doesnt look too good, you also havent seen the car before shipping it. Is it worth the money, why would you get it from Japan?
Finally an how-to video, but adding three grand to a 5 grand car is pretty steep.
Thanks for the kind words,
Regarding the tax: as previously mentioned in the comments: Yes I agree, the tax is something I dont enjoy paying for either, however - on the flip side, the UK is very relaxed about importing vehicles in comparision to some other countrys - which means the moderate tax rate is a acutally a small trade off for having such relaxed import laws, imagine having to wait 25 years to import a car if you lived in the USA, would be hell! 😲
@@BENJY-JP True. Thanks again for the video I've been trying to work that one out for a while.
Your video is fantastic, very concise, well organized. By the way, do you think it is feasible to pre-install rear fog light in Japan and ship to UK aim to pass MOT test easier?
thank you so much!
some agents could possibly do that for you if you pay for it. In my opinion you are better just doing it in the UK though
HI so am i right in thinking if i bought a car for $2000 from japan I am to add a further 34% on top due to taxes and importation
Hello.
Yes, roughly 34% on the CIF price
@@BENJY-JP Thank you I am seriously thinking about doing this but trying to weigh out all costs to see if it worth it
@@pinoyuk631 DO IT!
you wont regret it, promise…
@@BENJY-JP I am looking for a Honda Jitt (jazz) auto as they very expensive here and also Toyota Crown. I will do a bit more research
Hey mate, awesome video! I am trying to ship a 2014 Toyota Landcruiser 76 wagon, are there any restrictions that I need to be aware of? Can I even import something like this to the UK? Thanks a lot!
Not that I’m aware of, its under 10 years old though so it will need type approval and an IVA test, best waiting until its over 10 years old to make it easier
@@BENJY-JP Ah I see, I was not aware of the 10 year portion, thats definitely good to know! thanks mate
Cool!
The tax is outrageous.
Is insurance required for the V55? And for the first MOT?
No, Not in Mainland UK
its slightly different in Northern Island, you do need an insurance covering letter for registration I think
@@BENJY-JP Thanks 👍
Hi, want to import a Honda acty to the UK, what's the tax you pay on your one? Nice video, keep up the good work
Hi Benny. Great video mate. How difficult is it to insure an import? Do you recommend any websites for buying a vehicle?
Thanks mate! Hmmm insurance isnt my strong point. Adrian Flux will insure anything but are quite expensive, thats pretty much all the advice i could give you on that. Hope it helps! Best website for buying a vehicle: there are several in the video description which i would recommend, SBT take payment in GBP so its usually the easiest for your first time!
@@BENJY-JP thanks buddy!
