    • @willl5250
      @willl5250 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      with bricks it's more of an "abrasive" blade. Kinda fast grinding as opposed to slicing/cutting like wood saws. Although safety is always first. This blade would have "abrased" his shoe and pantleg with enough time for him to avoid any body parts to be cut off from the blade sharpness. But, you can still get really injured with the wrong slip up.

    Alex,
    On the brick edgers on the right side of the patio, do you just dig out a small area and lay those in there? Any base or sand or anything beneath them or bed on concrete?

    • @nickenslandscapingexcavating
      @nickenslandscapingexcavating  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I always understood that you do not put down a weed barrier if you are compacting as the barrier will not allow for full compaction. Can you comment on this?

    • @nickenslandscapingexcavating
      @nickenslandscapingexcavating  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That really depends who you talk to. Some like to compact the soil then install fabric/rock followed by compaction. This will help you recent the soil/rock from combining and weakening the base. Some say exactly like you said and think that you can’t get full compaction when fabric is down. I have done it both ways and I prefer to use a light fabric, doesn’t need to be heavy duty.

    • @frankcampos1251
      @frankcampos1251 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nickenslandscapingexcavating thank you for the feedback. I like the idea of not combining the soil & rock when compacting it. I will use the fabric on my next project.

  • @AbarSimorgh
    @AbarSimorgh 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The "weed barrier" you are referring to is not barrier for weeds my man! Weeds don't start to grow in that depth. The geo- textile membrane/fabric should be installed on the subbase/dirt, to prevent the subbase penetrating into the base and compromising the strength of the base. It should even be wrapping the base vertically.
    The excavation should be extended 8"-12" beyond where the edge of the pavers are planned to be installed (depending on the depth of the excavation). This of course is not necessary where there are structural walls, etc.
    Otherwise the outer edges of the pavers don't have enough base support.
    The pavers edge restraint should be installed directly on the compacted granular base and not on the bedding sand. One can achieve this by removing the excess sand at the edges.
    Side note: please wear respirator. The polymeric sand should not end up in your lungs.
    Other than that, you are doing the correct way than 80% of hardscape contractors out there.
    Keep up the good work 👍👌
