Please stop promoting Portugal internationally as an ideal place to buy homes🇵🇹 as it is negatively affecting my people. There is a direct link with the Airbnb, Golden Visas and Digital Nomads and the prices of homes all over Portugal. Proof of it is the fact that even the Portuguese government pretended to fix it with a new bill that they passed last July called “home for all” which still favours Golden Visas and Digital Nomads holders over their native Portuguese. Portuguese are now starting to see rich foreigners who are buying our homes on the international house market as the source of the rising houses and rental prices. How can we compete with rich foreign who are buying our homes with our minimum salaries of €760 a month?!!!! The sad reality that Golden visa holders know that they benefit of free movement all over Europe when they buy a Portuguese home above a certain price, so the house prices were forcefully inflated to accommodate the value that guarantee them the status of Golden visa. Furthermore, as they all automatically get a Portuguese passport after 5years , which grants them free access to many countries without any commitment, really. They only have to stay 7days in the country a year to apply for a Golden visa, but they are allowed to affect the house market, our life style and our power of acquisition permanently. We live in a country with portuguese salaries, but our houses are on an international market, that is problem. In addition to this, our elderly people were forced out of their rental properties in the historic centres of cities such us Lisbon, Sintra, Porto, Faro, Coimbra , Braga, Funchal, Ponta Delgada,Setubal, etc. This has killed our heritage, culture and social fabric to accommodate a superficial postcard tourism that has nothing to do with us Portuguese.
This is a beautiful property and you’re right, it won’t last long. It’s very quiet and lovely. I would blow out the wall of the current kitchen and make it only slightly larger giving room for a fridge and a peninsula to eat at then move the pool table down a little (or get rid of it) and make room for full dining. I’d wall up the central room and keep it as a utility/storage room, and make the wine room a family room without the big table. That way, all of the rooms upstairs could be used as bedrooms. I’d also add some mini splits for heating and cooling and a pellet stove downstairs. Possibilities are endless. Someone is going to be very happy there.
I love this place! I have a few questions: where would an owner park a car? And what kind of heating/cooling system does the house have? Maybe these things were mentioned, but if so I missed them.

Hello Nick and Fernando, what a gorgeous home this is the size it very deceiving, when you look at the outside it looks almost cottagie then that door opens you you step in to a cavernous room that looks like it’s in some night club feel. This home will grab a few people as it’s nice spaciousness sized rooms down stairs that to me hide something when you listen to Fernando going on about upstairs is fully re wired and replumbed etc and needs nothing. But it was like yes the upstairs is all done but it needs all the downstairs done. Now it might have bean the way it picked him up I got the impressions he wants the kitchen in the utility room so it serves the dining room and the snooker room better. The main deal breaker for me as a wheelchair user was the lack of parking. It looks like you’d have to leave your car in the town square at the top of the road. But it’s a lovely home for majority of people just who will be the lucky family?😊😊😊
Yes, parking is in the square, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, I just have to find 154,500 euros and its all mine 🤣 There is some work to do downstairs as you say but what a place 👌

It is such a grand property for an extremely reasonable price. Convert the present kitchen to a laundry and storage area. The center room would make a magnificent kitchen. Now this is going to sound crazy but I would have 2 storm doors -- minimal brown frames -- mostly glass -- made for the new kitchen exterior door and the present wine room exterior door that face the street -- to allow for daylight to enter the rooms but also to reduce heat loss. And since I have champagne taste lololol -- have a local artist acid etch two scenes that are unique for Portugal on those glass doors which would give you some privacy when the interior doors are open. As for the heating and cooling -- easy fix with mini-splits or an attic heat pump. Someone is going to get a fabulous house!
