See, it's pieces like these that make me want to pursue Bass Trombone as my secondary instrument (Euphonium is my primary). The raw energy and punch put forth by bass trombone players is awe-inspiring and divine to listen to!
I love the trombone sextet sound. However, I almost always prefer to have a tuba double the lowest bass trombone part. Why? I feel it gives a roundness and fullness to the whole ensemble. The lowest bass trombone gives the "bite' while the doubling tuba gives the ensemble a "fat" sound. BTW, I was a bass trombonist for many years.
I've never been a fan of music written for brass ensemble, but this is the first piece of music in said category that I fully, thoroughly enjoy. Thank you for uploading! Out of interest, what notation software do you use to make these?
