    Doing a replacement on my Mercury Sable today. The information you stress about getting it in neutral before removing the old one is very important. Thank you

    For anyone about to do this the big one is 15 mm in a smaller one is 8 mm. If you have four-wheel-drive you will need wrenches because sockets won't fit with the front drive shaft.
    If your shifter seems hard to shift replace this. Mine was stiff for the first four months I owned it and then I lost backup camera and reverse lights. I replace this and now it shifts easily.
    Be sure to spray WD-40 on the big nut before you even attempt this. Also need WD-40 on the shaft so that the sensor will slide off. I ended up having to break mine and using channel locks to get the plastic insert off the shaft

      @@FordTechMakulocodidn’t know how else to message you hope this works. My 2006 5.4L F150 has recently failed going to reverse from neutral. It shifts from park to reverse just fine. Your videos have helped me out for many years on many projects on this truck. I’m thinking it’s a sensor issue maybe ? It got a new transmission in 2018 and has barely been driven since ( less than 1000 miles surely) I followed your videos and redid the timing chain and phasers , etc. many years ago. And now the truck runs better than when I got it. Thank you. Once again , neutral to reverse does not work, but park to reverse does. Thanks for the direction.

    Hey Brian- Can this faulty part cause a P1780 "Trans control switch circuit out of self-test range". '02 Escape/Tribute symptoms are only at highway speeds up a slight grade or trying to pass a truck. It doesn't seem to be in the right gear and there's little power in that situation. It operates normally with full power and no slippage in any other situation. OD light button works fine. If it matters, I recently replaced water pump and thermostat due to overheating. Thanks for any ideas.

    Hello! Thanks for all the help you’ve given me with my truck so far, haha. I have an 05 F150 4.6L with a reman trans installed at ford dealership (warranty went out 2 months before this happened and they said “good luck” when I called about it) that wont go into OD. First occurred going down highway at 70mph, truck neutrals out. 1st, 2nd, and reverse all work great. Just neutrals out around 40 mph now instead of shifting. I pulled the valve body per your video on the broken snap ring for the od servo. Everything looked good inside, nothing broken or any valves stuck. I have no codes or have had any flashing lights. Could that be this switch if everything except OD works fine? There’s been a few times where it will crank but wont start unless its in neutral. Thanks for the years of help!

Truck wont shift in the drive part of the range. 1 and second gear dont slip at all and i replaced plug. Im hoping it could be the range control itself. Let me know about this please??

    I just had the 5R55S out of my 2002 explorer to replace the rear crank seal and now the tranny wont shift into third from drive. It behaves as if it is still in drive and even shifts thru the gears when starting out from a dead stop with the shifter in third. Could this be the culprit as the trans was recently fully rebuilt and all of the solenoids passed the ohm test with flying colors? The shift lever was also rather stiff after the install but has loosened up since.

    I was getting fault codes for this and my transmission would come out of OD. It would downshift to 3rd gear and go back to 4th and would keep doing this. Had it replaced and it kept doing it when it got hot. It was a Dorman part. Took it back and they replaced it with an OEM part. Worked for a week and started doing it again. Would this happen because it's not lined up or another issue? This is on a 2008 F150. I'm hoping to check the alignment later today.

    I know this an old video for you but it really helped me. I have an 03 Explorer that blew the cassettes I could not pull the engine so I had to drop the tranny. After that it would not shift… replaced the solenoid per your vid. Still not shifting and no reverse but it did work before I dropped the tranny. Then I found this video problem almost solved. I had the alignment on it all set problem is I have to put pressure on the shift pushing it towards Neutral and then it shifts? So do I load the lever before I put the plastic retaining clip on or what did I do wrong? Thx if you have time!

    On an 08 Mustang GT, is the neutral safety switch the same thing as the TRS? I'm reading that the TRS could be separate and inside the tranny? My Mustang is throwing a P0705 code. It drives fine but I am worried that there might be another part inside the tranny. I have a Motorcraft SW6253 neutral safety switch on the way. Thanks for the perfect, precise videos.

    • @MissMimiDoll
      @MissMimiDoll 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RafananClan they are the same part...code P0705 is for the TRS indicating failure/faulty part. I've changed two of these on my 99 Cougar now and got different names for it at two different part shops. :) Easy as pie to do, will take 20 minutes max! Just make sure to park the car in neutral with emergency brake on, and align it like the video shows.

Bad sensor most likely?? One transmission shop told me they 6spd isn't known to fail..I'm so lost with this big money pit

    Is this same as the 2007 ford edge. If I put my vehicle in park the reverse lights remain on. Or is my issue here with the shifter as to why this is occurring? I have to keep it in neutral with the emergency brake on. And it wont start in park. Only when I have the shifter lever set to neutral position.

    I have a 99 Ford Contour V6 24V. The TR Sensor is the same as the Neutral Safety Switch correct? Also, the replacement part I bought has D and the fine line instead of N. Does that mean I should put it into Drive instead of neutral?

    Love your videos and have been very helpful. I got a 02 f150 4x4 with 4r70w. Reverse went out with no warning or any indication that it was bad. When I put it in reverse, it acts like it went into gear with a noticable clunk, any ideas where I should start the diagnosis of what is wrong? I've already checked fluid, it's not burnt or dark. I've got all forward gears n all also. I drove it home n it ran n shifted through forward gears and od like normal... any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Also, just want to say keep up with videos, great info in them that help make repairs easier
