@@Noniinthebush … … …. To be honest I did the worst thing you could do to a vintage Singer… I used water. At that time I didn’t know any better. Now I know that I should use sewing machine oil and never water. Take care
@ Oh well thanks for being honest. I did use dishwashing liquid with water on my mums old 15 because I thought it was grimy but it was the clear coat. Oh well, that’s how we learn isn’t it
To be honest... I dont use any of them so I have no idea! In the manuals you see it explained. (Old skool.) I guess there should be something online too (new skool). Hope you'll find what you're looking for! Good luck!!
Great video Erik! I’m interested in the differences ... why do I see some with a different access panel in reverse side of the arm - is this only for those made in Kilbowie plant?
It is true that some of the parts used in the Kilbowie were different to orther sites. I think it is good to remember that these machines were build during half a century. Styles change, so Singer had to keep the sewing machines appealing to its customers. There were many patterns/ styles over those decades. Does that answer your question. Best, Erik
Groet, Erik
I noticed that your bobbin had thread gathered more on the right side when you filled the red thread does this bump cause a problem with tension or tangling when using the machine? (my machine does this too)
Thank you for your comment. No, it has not affected a problem with my sewing. But I have to speak for myself, maybee other people do have issues with that. I have not had any problems with that. All the best, Erik
Look for the serialnumber and visit ISMACS.net or download the Singer Serial Number app on your smartphone. I have a video on dating the Singer sewing machines: th-cam.com/video/jFGNVkSLvqQ/w-d-xo.html Good luck, Erik

Glad to hear it now works.
Enjoy your machine!
What were you washing this machine with at the start of the video? Cheers
