I just want to give a shout-out to Jeannie for always pushing her opinion out there and being a voice of reason for her people when it comes to representation! I think Asian Representation is the least seen thing out there... I mean yes we have shows like “ Fresh off the Boat “ but I haven’t seen like a true representation without it feeling like a caricature of what Asians are ! Being that this is a show where we have four sometimes five voices where ppl feel relatable to said person on the table is good but just because someone is asian doesn’t mean that makes us automatically on the same boat ! I don’t wanna only see a crazy asian or a rich Asian , I don’t wanna see a asian that can barely speak English as a way to be humorous ! I don’t want to see someone who can do karate or is a ninja ! Like I don’t wanna see stereotypical bs !

I am so proud of you too Jeannie as you represent Asians very well that boldly breaks out of the traditional culture. I love that you speak out in a diverse talk show. You are all beautiful, intelligent, life experienced that collaborates so well together with different personas. Regardless of the misunderstanding after on the norm it’s usually not a fighting matter.
I'm on Jeannie's side regarding texting. That "talk to you later" or "call me later" can get tricky/threatening real quick smh. The tone can be misconstrued easily. I'd rather you not text me when things are getting too heated or just talk in-person. There's too much time for overthinking during a text argument that's when the miscommunication happens.
I agree with Jeanie. Arguing over text is a slippery slope. I do it from time to time, but you have to be very carful with what you say because tone of voice can not be heard and words get twisted.
I love watching“The Real”! These ladies are powerful and very motivated. They’ll speak real truth and real facts when it comes to certain situations involving the younger generation but they’ll do it respectfully. Neither of them’ll throw any shade on other celebrities nor disrespect their lifestyle nor their personality and they will not make fun of them nor disrespect them and their family and friends like Ms Wendy Williams, but only give their honest opinions in a humble manner. They care so much about the younger generation and they know when not to show any disturbing videos when it comes to dangerous actions involving children, police brutality, or even worse and that’s what I love about them🙏🏿. That’s why they haven’t been receiving any backlash from the internet because they respect other people’s personality and won’t throw shade at anyone.
I honestly feel like arguing over text can be so bad or stupid cuz you never know the tone when somebody is speaking or texting in... they can be asking a question but you think the have an attitude like it's so crazy... I don't have time to explain what I meant and how I meant it I'd rather talk to you face to face or over the phone
Avatar: The Last Airbender's live action movie had this problem too but the only people who weren't Asian was the main cast as if Asians don't deserve to have lead roles in big productions and off topic but I it's not that hard to pronounce their names correctly, just watch the show!
This will never change untill Nicki Minaj gets all them Grammies she deserves the black women is most disrespected. That does not take from their talent it just goes to show how racist even Hollywood is.
@2:25 let me give another one... Winx club Musa is asian and wasn't played by one. And it really got me irritated because as a young child watching Winx club i always adored how there was a diversity in all type of races in the main girls. Which my mother pointed it out to when i was younger so i usually imagined a movie for it and i always imagined the Asian who played in Charlie's angels to be one of the cast. But as the years went by and they finally had a live action I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong I think the girl who played Musa is very beautiful, I've gotten attached to her and want to see her in more projects but it still didn't ease my disappointment. And yes... All the characters from the Winx live action are not at all like the original Winx club.
It’s also THE ACTORS’ responsibility . Like why u trying out for a Chinese or whatever the race is character when ur white af?or if they ask u why do you accept ? HOW do u find the audacity to go on with it? I am middle eastern muslim don’t get me started on how they portray us (that is if they know we exist as people not garbage “terrorists”) or when they put the different colors whenever a scene in a middle eastern country pops up . U go ladies speak up be heard ! All the points u made are true !
They have done this same thing with Latina actresses too. If I’m not mistaken the lead actress Maria in west side story (who was supposed to be Puerto Rican) was not Latina at all. If they could get away with it with black people I’m sure they would do it to us too. It’s ridiculous.
I recently saw a trailer of a show or movie filled with Asians acting butttt it was about kung fu fighting or some ninja stuff. I got so disappointed. I wish they just made it so casual to see the diversity
Im bad at convo, so I prefer to text argue si I can think, and rethink what J want ti say and say it. Im with Adrienne. I get what Jeanie means how it can be misconstrued, But Im really nit good at face to face.
Another reason why we still haven’t a Crazy Rich Asians 2 is because they rather pay Peter Chiarelli who happens to be a Caucasian male $800,000 to $1,000,000 and Adele Lim who happens to be an Asian American woman $80,000 to $110,000 for writing the script for Crazy Rich Asians 2. They both wrote the screenplay for the first film, why can’t they pay them the same amount instead of one gets paid less because of gender and race??
Agreed! Except there are some departments that are all Asian (tech, finance, etc) - and that’s not diversity either. Diversity should include multiple races!
Who can they invite if there is not enough Asian Americans even working? believe that was the point overall. saying that there are not enough asian people hired in the industry.
