I love Staffys! My first Staffy, a beautiful blue nose, recently died. I was heartbroken and had no intention of getting another Staffy, but one entered my world and she is nothing short of a delight.
thanks for this video. was really helpfull with my pup, only 2 accidents witin the first week "8 weeks old", and on those days it was poring rain around the clock... 14 weeks in now and there hasnt been anymore accidents since week 1
This is definitely one of the best dog channels on TH-cam and deserves so much more attention also I’m getting a english staffy puppy and I have been here on this channel for the last 3 days because it has been teaching me soo much information about staffys thanks 🙏🏽 keep up the grind
I've had two staffs for three weeks and already potty traind I might have an accident once or twice a week but I'm very happy, also very quick learners 10 weeks old and can fetch a ball bark for food . Oh food and staffs, is shaking normal when I'm eating in front of them.
WHAT🤯 We had ours for over a month and she's not showing any signs of getting better. Not asking for door, no crying.. nothing... Worst breed ever for toilet training🤦 I take her out every hour and she does not go, she's afraid of everything (wind, rain, cars, people, leafs...) Had 3 beagles and after 1 day they were asking to go out... Seriously it has been hell... The pee & poo all over our house, biting everyone including our 3yr and not nipping.. biting until blood is drawn.. We chose that breed for the minimal shedding and everyone told us they were the best...😔
@@melaniesonier6493 sorry to hear that, be firm with her when we first got them we used those floor mats we put them next to the door I dipped in in there pee then moved it outside after a week. Sounds like you have your work cut out. Keep going you will get there in the end I must admit it was hard work but it has paid off. Good luck.
Hi #Will or anyone who could help, we are about to get our new staffie puppy and wondered if you knew why you shouldn't buy a Staffy pup if their nose is not black (if its brown/pink)? Thank you 💜
Thank you for this! We have a mutt (mostly staffy) and we have had a lot of issues toilet training. At night he does great, pees on puppy pads and scratches on the door. During the day he pees, sniffs around and then whines by the door, my husband is getting to frustrated.
Oh my God, I have just rescued a staffie. Love him to bits but struggling with training him to go to the bathroom. He is 7 yrs and isore interested in the smells and noise around him
I’m talking to a girl and she has a brother and sister staffordshire mixed with bully and they are 7 months I’m watching them for her cuz she’s looking for a new spot and can’t keep the dogs where she is or she’ll get evicted how can I train them to let me know they have to use the bathroom this late in their lives ?
Hoping this helps I have an extremely stubborn 10 week old amstaff pup who doesn't want to house train, we take her out 15 to 20min after food and water run her around for almost 30 min etc she refuses to go come inside and boom she goes immediately, every stinking time even when we extended the amount of time outside... She's a great dog tho
I have a 9 week amstaff will be 10 weeks on friday she has been peeing in her bed i dont know how to stop this i have learned her how to sit and stay but the toilet training doesnt seem to be going well any help would be appreciated
We adopted a one year old staffy boy. He's a wonderful boy, super sweet despite coming from a rough background. He was starved nearly to death. He will tell us when he has to go out when we are home but when we leave he will go pee and/or poo in our bathroom. We come home on lunch to let him out to ensure it's not too long but he will accident by that time and often again when we get home. How can we train this part?
Im looking into getting a puppy soon! Now i work fro. 7-6, during that time no ones home is that bad for the puppy? As soon as i get home i will be training him and getting use to what its like to have a dog. Overall im wondering will it be a problem that im not home because of work for most of the day?
I always leave my backdoor open for our little staffy pup to go toilet....only thing is, we bought her a litter box, but she won't go into it, any tips
How long do you recommend we wait after taking the dog out every hour? 15min? Lol sorry for the stupid question but I want to get this right if I’m doing it every hour for a few days or weeks
I've been doing this, but my staffy has decided he doesn't want to walk round the garden anymore. He just sits staring at the door to get back in, then he pees inside…..Gonna try it with a leash? 2 more weeks until he can be walked outside.
Hey Grant, thanks for watching! We'd recommend trying to keep the the hourly intervals. Puppy pads can cause confusion for your dog and even if you clean they might still be able to smell the scent and decide going to the toilet indoors is okay. Obviously sometimes puppy pads are the only option but we highly recommend thinking about it before going down that route
Hi Kristen, we'd say the best thing to do is to remove access to water about an hour before bed, then let your dog out for the toilet just before putting them to bed. This should help with them needing the toilet in the night and will help them learn to go outside only. Hope that helps!
So exciting, hopefully our channel can help! Don't forget we have a dedicated training channel with lots of tips and advice: th-cam.com/channels/6z0E8nSfCvelwA3bon_phg.html We also have a number of training courses over on our website too if you're looking for a little more structure and support: www.fenrircanineleaders.co.uk/collections/training
I swear to God, my 1-1/2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier practically TRAINED HIMSELF! He had 4, maybe 5 (and that's stretching it) accidents in the house and then he began coming to get me to go outside. I followed this very method, too....and I'm just now seeing this. This pup has GOT to be THE SMARTEST PUP I've ever had! The worst dogs I had to housetrain? Hands down, my two Bassett Hounds, lol!!
My staffy is 2 months and 3 weeks old.. The 2nd week he had going on the pads almost downpacked. The 3rd week he completely stopped going on the pads and is now peeing any and everywhere in the house. I had a pad placed in the living room the dining room and the kitchen and he would go on them. When I put him on the pads to go Potty now he walks off of them and goes and pees and poops anywhere. Now it's going on the 2nd week of him refusing to use the pads. I don't understand why he digressed. I am incredibly frustrated. So I made a bigger potty area for him and even put a doggy gate around it so he will have privacy And feel more comfortable. He will go in it early in the morning and only pee in it once the rest of the day he refuses to go potty in it. He will Patty anywhere else except for where the pads are. I am so frustrated and I don't know what to do. He cannot go outside until he has had his last parvo shot.
Also I'm putting him on the pad when he wakes up, about an hr after he eats, and when I see him circling like he's looking to potty. He will stand on the pads then sneak off and go pee somewhere else 😫
Oh! And I praise him for going on the pad the one time in the morning and give him a treat. He gets so happy and excited. But after that he's goes other places and hides to pee or poop. I don't get this behavior 😕
