- If you're new to ForeFlight, the amount of features and processes is overwhelming. We'll just look at the basics here on a simple VFR flight looking at features you're likely to use on every flight.

A godsend that I stumbled upon in my PPL training but nobody I've flown with had heard of before I told them: In your flightplan, go to procedure > traffic pattern > select your runway > select your pattern entry (e.g. cross midfield, teardrop entry for rwy 21) > add to route. Foreflight will add add waypoints to your flightplan for your entire pattern from entry to landing.
Wow! I didn't know this. Thank you
Is this legal to use during ppl check ride ?
@@mojo7618 Yes, unless your DPE "fails" your EFB
@@Pappas1997 how many EFB can he/she fail ? Because I got few in my bag lol 🤣🤣
@@mojo7618 I feel like you know the answer to this haha
Thank You!
I have ten years USAF experience.
I have thirty three years Part 121 Airline experience.
I have two months as a Part 91 Jet pilot.
and...
I am turning to your GREAT videos to learn about Garmin, ForeFlight and this new world.
Your videos are GREAT!
Even for an old pilot.
Could you make a more in depth foreflight tutorial. Ex: How to load an aircraft performance, how to get in flight traffic advisories, a bit more detail on xcountry planning...please
P.S. keep up the great work! Very very helpful
Questions:
1. Which FS are you using?
2. Are you using only the keyboard or are you using a throttle, yoke, and rudder, system?
3. In FPL, there is an option to enter taxiing instructions. Could you go more into that?
4. Will you take my instrument written for me? LOL
My question is Can we use foreflight with FS2020 like you did in the video?
Yes. ForeFlight has a page on how to connect to MSFS - or whatever Sim you have. It’s really cool and handy.
Having the extended centerlines is a must for night VFR
How do you enable this feature?
@@kanchanpokhrel8274 From the home page on “Maps”, go to Settings in the top left and scroll down until you see “Map Overlays”, you’ll see it says Extended Centerlines.
@@Hester23BearsCHx Thank you so much!!
Excellent video!! Thanks!
My flight instructor talked me into getting. Outstanding app!
I will need to take an in person class on how to use Foreflight properly. Just as I did with ground school. On line training is pretty much useless for me.
Do people use an ipad with cellular capability to make foreflight show where you are during flight? Or does a wifi only ipad can do that too?
In order to get a gps position on ForeFlight you need an iPad that’s data-enabled, but you don’t need an actual cellular plan. The other option is the basic Wi-Fi iPad with an external gps like a stratus
@@flightinsight9111 Thank you, this was driving me crazy. Ill get the cellular without the carrier then
Does it work if I fly without internet? Will I be able to see me on the map?
Are you able to also do a good tutorial on FltPlan as many of us new pilots use that package because of the price. Great video series!!
always wanted to know how to set this up
how did you sync foreflight with MSFS2020?
I just downloaded the app and I don’t have any aircraft information
Too bad you can't use it on android devices.
Thank 👏you👏
On my phone, can't find indacator
ForeFlight is only for iOS and associated platforms and they need to expand to Android!
The iPad has wifi. Your phone has wifi. Can the phone help get you ifr.

I will need to get a IT geek to program Foreflight , so that it will give me traffic alerts thru my headphones.
Profile view not available in ForeFlight without the pro plus upgrade.
Yeah that’s a bummer! 😢
Is it free?
No, you’ll need a yearly subscription. They start at $120/year, up to $360 I think.
@@lukeolender711 did it go up? I thought it was like $90-$100 for the basic subscription? Anyhow, it's money well-spent, if for nothing but the traffic awareness alone!
@@sigbauer9782 yeah it went up this year. Still worth it in my opinion
@@thebadgerpilot skydemon is so much better imo. i can’t seem to figure out how to use the real waypoints on foreflight and the maps are very inaccurate. im stuck with foreflight for a year tho so maybe it will get better
I personally would never use Foreflight during a flight, just googling iPad catches fire on a plane will show you why. This is why I suggest the Garmin tools because they are not known for blowing up on airplanes. While flying I would put them in a thermal bag and only use them in emergency situations. I would much rather get lost from a bad GPS than be in a cockpit on fire that I cannot do anything about, especially with oxygen being rapidly burned away.
