This is incredible, and really complex for a fresh fragrance yet without smelling dated. It smells really natural too. My late father’s signature scent and a staple in my collection.
I've had this one for a long time and do enjoy it quite a bit. It lasts on me for 12+ hours and the scent still lingers on my skin fairly strongly the next day, not even kidding lol. That is maybe why I prefer wearing it in winter time only as it is rather dense. I got a fair amount of compliments on it and a lot of them coming from guys actually believe it or not lol.. I think a part of the reason is that it has an extremely nice, woody and super masculine dry down which is pleasant to the most people around you. Great review mate. Cheers from Canada!
It's a legend that will always be a summer staple in my collection. I have the rare "wood cap" flanker which youtubers claimed to be far superior. Frankly, I can't tell any difference. They smell the same so love both! EDIT: Actually I meant "wood looking bottle" of 'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme called "Wood Edition." Not to be confused with the flanker "Wood & Wood."
I got Issey Miyake after I heard a song with Pimp C talking about it. “If you want it with me come and get some because you going to smell my cologne, Issey miyake or bond no. 9 ‘Cause I do not play” 🤣 swear to god I looked it up and got some shortly after
Fun Fact; Issey Miyake changed the entire fragrance industry when it first came out. Every fragrance company started to model its scents after Issey because it was so unique
I just picked this up a few days ago, and what video is first in my recommended when I get home? This one, of course! It's one of my favorite spring/summer scents because of that yuzu and lotus while also having that great, old-school masculine signature to it, actually coming off a bit professional to me. It works so well in basically every occasion when the weather is nice, and I'll probably get the whole body line eventually. Keep cranking out the great content!
Very fair assessment. Definitely as you described, a modernized classic. Lots of things have come after to make this redundant, but this is an OG and the yuzu top holds a place for it. No noseblindness with this for me- my experience has been a little stronger longevity, maybe Chrome territory. If you want something else from the house, I'd recommend L'Eau Bleue D'Issey. Don't be confused, not blue at all. Super green, fresh but dense, not lacking for strength, old school character. For me, not Polo in body but in spirit. Thanks for all your great videos, I should comment more than I do. You're the man!
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey Late reply but ive seen many comments online describe Leau Bleue as a fresh green scent. I havent tried it but I think its worth a shot given your tastes.
This is nice, but I find the lotus to be almost too dry, the intense version, also by Jacques cavalier is good too, has the same dna, softer, but with a heavy dose of incense and amber, I think you would like that, as to the other flankers, I haven't tried any so there we go, but beware, the intense is strong, over spray and you'll pay! Great reviews as always, the bodyline products look great, but are sadly difficult to come by in the UK .
if you want a longer lasting version - test "eau fraische version. you going to like it cause it lasts longer while still being very similar to the original. most of the other from the line are completely different fragrances, i like most of them. i also own l'eau majure and it might be the most projecting fresh scent I ever had.
The Eau Fraiche version is stronger / longer lasting ? I believe you since I’ve never tried it but it’s funny because usually that’s not the case with the “fresh” flankers lol
@@ScentsOfSouthJersey This is true since the OG was sadly reformulated. Anyway both scents are way worthy. Fraiche is one of the very few scents that include de yerba mate note that is sometimes called "south american tea" in Europe/north America. It comes blended with the mint note so many reviewers talk about a rare mint or rare herbals, but here in south America is a delightful slight bitter every day smell. Fraiche is a wonderful refreshing and enegetic alternative to the more thoughtful relaxed zen OG.
Will forever be one of my favorites… I love the intense version with incense as well. I call it the Dark Knight because it’s what I imagine the Bat would wear on a skyscraper in Gotham
I've never tried "L'eau D'issey Pour Homme", but I've definitely tried "L'eau D'issey Pour Homme Intense" (which I love and I have two bottles of it). I have at least 11 different Issey Miyake fragrances in my collection (not including backup bottles). It's one of my favorite fragrance companies. I haven't tried anything from them which I don't like. Kelan, will you compare "L'eau D'issey Pour Homme" with "L'eau D'issey Pour Homme Intense"?
In my opinion the OG reminds me of sunny days whereas the intense reminds me of a heavy rain, I like both equally though, just think they have different moods
The most important thing you've said in this video is that lalique encre noir is "too much" for you, this is EXACTLY how I've feeled when wearing it - I was choked from the strong earthy notes, and you've described it so percisley.
I remember when all the guys were wearing ADG back in the 90s I liked it but it was too common. Then I smelled Issey Miyake and even though it was similar to ADG it had more notes to it that you wouldn't expect like tobacco and just smelled more exotic and attractive than ADG. As far as aquatics of the 90s went the first was Cool Water, but the second was Issey with Calvin Klein Escape in at third and ADG being the fourth. Not many people realize this one came out a good two years before ADG so obviously it isn't a copycat fragrance at all the men's D&G Light Blue Intense is very similar to this one but more modern and far better performance.
I really enjoy this one. Definitely feel like the comparison between this and ADG is very strong. Also, if ADG has never come into being... THIS would've been the phenomenon that ADG became.
Love this one but for strange reason. Im new to this one having never picked it up in the 90s. (I wore mostly drakaar, eternity, halston, escape, all stuff too mature for me as a young teenager at the time but my mother would buy us all these sample packs for us at Christmas ) 🎄;This frag is in a different category for me because when i weat it it clears up my sinises. so i spray it on for medicinal💊 purooses lol. It could be from all the antioxidants in the fruit 🍓 ingredients or saffron or yuzu or something. The scent is decent, light enough to be doused on, i feel like there is probably more to the vintage because i cant smell hardly any of the notes listed. the florals make it bit of a tough wear for me. But i can easily overcome that because of its ligjt airy citrus vibe (sort of like dolce gabann light blie vibe to me) . I read somewhere the bottle is supposed to resemble rain on concrete aidewalk or something i can't remember the detaila exactly. I love the bottle amd the frag.
Interesting , this has been my go to , easy reach fragrance and I never knew they had all those ancillary layering products , never saw a gift box . I like your Aqautic connection with aqua Di Gio. ( water of Gio ) , L’eau D’Issey means ( water of I’ssey )
Always loved those atomizers. Ton of juice AND a good mist. Difficult to pull off a balance of both. Heard that this one was more popular in Europe than ADG, whereas here in the west it was the reverse. But still my preferred 90s aquatic due to that characteristic yuzu-floral combo. Unfortunately they did away with the florals in the Fraiche version making it more spicy, but I'd even take that one over ADG myself. Especially after all the reformulations. Arguably my favourite designer freshie line despite the abundance of flankers. Btw, I heard the new Vetiver is actually quite good. Still need to try it.
You may just be able to pick up the bottle from the lid with the 125ml but definitely not with the 200ml almost broke mine a few times doing so😂😂, great review bro this will always be one of my favourites until the day I die, 👍👍🔥
Aqua Di Gio could be had for $60 at retailers, Issey was $80. Which was significant to younger buyers in the 90's and 2k's. Issey, in my opinion, was and is the better fragrance. Plus, not every cake boy with dyed hair and a wifebeater didn't reek of it.
Whoa dude. That’s a lot of juice to spray in 3 weeks! Props as long as you didn’t decant and sell. Love Issey Miyake. Super fresh! Try the Intense, which adds incense. Crazy combo that works.
I know I keep mentioning it but I believe it’s a positive. How the hell do you use so much juice so quickly. It’s a positive because you have lived the fragrance, too many reviews give their interpretations after just one or two wears. Out of interest how many sprays do you use on a normal application? I also have this fragrance and as a freshie it lasts a decent amount of time. I find it smells better in the air than off the skin. Great detailed review as always Killian. I’ve bought so many old skool fragrances based on your reviews. My latest pick ups were Paco Rabanne Pour Homme and Kouros. The Korous is a part used 2010 bottle and boy is it powerful just like you said. The Paco Rabanne pour Homme smells of green clean soap. Very wearable in these modern times in any occasion. Keep up the great work.
I never liked this one as felt it was too modern smelling for me. I also never liked ADG. I did pick up Open black based on your video and it is great! Open Black smells like you got punched in the face by a guy name Nunzio. Thanks for the great videos!
Figured this review was coming after all the IG stories lol. Really love this one. I must have been wearing it for 20 years already. It's funny how this is a cheapie. I remember back when this used to be expensive and one of the most popular designer releases.
I have tried finding this EDT for a month now but I'm getting nothing but a single fake knockoff with a textured glass bottle and larger, darker writing. I know the real bottle is smooth glass with smaller, silvery writing, but I don't know where to find the genuine article.
This is incredible, and really complex for a fresh fragrance yet without smelling dated. It smells really natural too. My late father’s signature scent and a staple in my collection.
One of my favorites in my collection. That bitter yuzu note is so unique. I never regret wearing it, no matter the occasion.
It’s such an easy wear any time for sure
The yuzu and tobacco notes made this one strikingly unique.
After all these years, Izzy Miyake is my go-to fragrance. Every time I wear it, I get the most beautiful compliments.

I prefer the Intense. L’Eau D’Issey OG goes mothball on me, and Intense fixes that and goes a bit darker with the incense. 👌

It’s such an easy wear and you can spray as much as you want
Agree but if you want a similar fragrance that is slightly more modern and has far better performance grab D&G Light Blue Intense.
I wear this all the way back in 1995-96.
Right when it came out pretty much that’s cool !
I really enjoy this one. Definitely feel like the comparison between this and ADG is very strong. Also, if ADG has never come into being... THIS would've been the phenomenon that ADG became.
Exactly ! This was the ADG gateway scent
I smelled this one after ADG I thought it smelled way better and more exotic.
Absolute classic. Love it.
