It’s wonderful to see a young korean guy filling in the ranks among a crop of young talented cellists.
Maisky, Isserlis, Ma and Mørk now have the company of promising musicians like Mr. Cho.
Incredible sound, nothing harsh, just pure, light and beautiful. Bravo
Absolutely beautiful, second movement, especially!
I certainly hope he won first prize. So good!
He did
My teacher referred to you as “Feuermann reincarnated” which is the highest compliment he can give. Fantastic performance!
You can really hear him using all of the sounds of the orchestra in his 1st mvt cadenza
I'm convinced that he's the best cellist of his generation.
99miyah too many great young cellists. I wouldn't say that. He's really good tho and I'm a fan.
who else do you like to listen to? Just curious :)
@@auspicious93 Jonathan Roozeman, Andrei Ionita, Pablo Ferrandez, Kian Soltani... They are young other amazing cellists.
And I personally adore Steven Isserlis but you certainly know him
@@Violedegambe yes--he's coming to my university campus in February, and I can't wait!
@@auspicious93 isserlis?
Bravo!
24:44 my fav part of the piece
Did you make your own cadenza for the first movement? It's quite interesting, it gives the piece a new flavor. Bravo by the way!!
Roric Cunningham yes I did, and for the second movement as well. Thank you!!
@@BrannonCho The reason for that being is we want this concerto to be very playable. It sounds very interesting if you played the Tutti Passages in unison w/ the Cello Section.
@@RockStarOscarStern634 You can see me playing the tutti passages in this more recent video: th-cam.com/video/VgxIW6GJpsg/w-d-xo.html
@Brannon Cho you don't happen to have the music to the first cadenza? Or do you. I am going to perform this piece in a few months and I love this candenza and wanted to perform it.
After watching many of his stunning performances, I want to start a go-fund-me to send Brannon some white shirts. Poor guy is always sweating, and white would help! Even if black is his image. Still, a fantastic performance to look up to!
Bravo
😍😍👏👏👏👏👏bravissimo
Would enjoy seeing Cho play alongside Bruno Phillippe.
His cello is singing
Can you pls teach me to have such fluid bow changes at the frog?
The way your fingers flick the other way looks so easy but yet I can't figure out how to do it....maybe my bowhold is bad...
I recommend practicing colle. It really helped my bow changes. I practice the colle motion everywhere even away from my bow like holding my phone or something.
great
What cello are you using ? It looks quite big on you.

He played without vibration i like that ! That is early classical composition ! And cadebza is so beautiful!
without "vibration" ? you mean vibrato ? he does use vibrato (beautifully)
yeah, lol, wut, he does vibrate.
It's his own cadenza!
퀸엘리자베스 첼로 콩쿨은.. 왠지 슈스케를 보는 느낌이었다.
경쟁자는 많은데, 연주자는 없는 느낌...
SU YI 그렇긴 하죸ㅋㅋㅋ
