He wasn´t as good at all in politics as his father had been.But his grandfather Carl X was quite poor in this too.I think in Poland he just wanted to fullfill his grandfather´s will to qonquer and keep Poland for Sweden.Historians usually do not write about this,but I see it quite reasonable.He got to have known about his grandfathers war in Poland.Also Carl XII lost his parents early,which probably affected his personality and made him a little different than others.
Many would say Charles XII was a great "tactician". Well then, how would you comment on his strategy? In plain, good old English; denmark, poland and the "smart" Russians challenged us, but soon after Russian soil looked pretty f*cked up, despite Poltava. Russia still is a third world nation.

19 000 man i slaget ska vara korrekt men jag räknade hela armeérna totalt utan att ta med civila eller icke soldater.
