I totally agree with you regarding Vancouver. As well, I think that the lower mainland was once a lovely region but that it is also overrun by foreigners.
It's funny how everything looks amazing in hindsight. We tend to romanticize the past...but I've been here 50 years. Every era of Vancouver had issues. It's never been perfect for everyone. Personally, I believe it's still a great city with a lot to offer and that it's navigated the challenges of the modern world better than most cities...but there's room to improve of course.
I had the bad luck to have worked for CP Air in Sydney, Australia back in the 1970s ! The Canadian management on posting from HQ/Vancouver were so snobbish, as if Australia was like some 3rd World country.
How can you afford high rents/property prices and have work life balance? Many people I know in Vancouver need two jobs or side hustles just to survive in Canada's most expensive city
@robocop581 I hear you. And I think that's true for a lot of people that come to Vancouver (usually young people at the beginning of building a career)...but that's not everyone's experience. Just look around on a sunny day and you'll see what I mean.
You may want to check your spelling of Germany, and London too...and the United States. I believe you omitted the extend of the drug scene, especially city gov GIVING FREE drugs addicts, an incredibly foolish, misguided decision, IMO.
Let's face the real music, ok? If you move anywhere, anywhere on earth. Consider these things please: 1. What do you have to offer in order to make lives better for those around you? 2. What are your gifts and abilities that will contribute to the cultural and social assets already at play there, where you want to move to? If all you do is move for self-serving reasons and move just to run away from something, or jump over that fence in your delusional head, that the other side is supposed to be greener. For you? No. LoL ! You have to live with yourself and grow up in this adult world. You're not a spoiled, entitled brat kid anymore. If you have nothing to offer the places you wish to move to? Stay put and get better at life first. You're welcome.
I disagree. I left vancouver after 20 years and the new City and different province I live just clicked for me. People here are more friendly open and real. I can't complain. I never had this experience in Vancouver. I'm so glad I moved away.
So stop crying and move as nobody said you have a God give right to live in the most expensive city in British Columbia. I started out in Toronto and left in 97 and never look back as I live in PEC and laugh at all the crying…Increase your value and hustle that’s the only way success happens!

This Metro Vancouverite chuckled at tipping at a gas station. Not gonna happen.
Consider these things please:
I'm so glad I moved away.

zzzz too many cupcakes!
@stever2583 Take it easy. Those can be deadly. ;)
Ouch - Using a tissue box? Tacky.

Not sure what you are referring to here?
The weather sucks-rainy and expensive to live. No thanks.
So stop crying and move as nobody said you have a God give right to live in the most expensive city in British Columbia. I started out in Toronto and left in 97 and never look back as I live in PEC and laugh at all the crying…Increase your value and hustle that’s the only way success happens!
When the tissue box came out I thought for a second it was a joke to go cry alone with no hope in sight for Vancouver 😅
