    I can see some interesting Halloween applications for this . . . but . . . wire it for a wall wort instead of batteries, use the HD relay to switch several large floodlights, disconnect the speaker and send the audio to a PA System, and for the MP3, sample a clip from an old war movie - one where POWs are escaping {sirens, dogs barking, guards yelling, machine gun fire, etc}. Then set it up in my garden for the next time one of the neighborhood teenagers sneaks over my back fence to steal my watermelons! 😁

      I get quite a few security companies interested in our sound cards for just that purpose, mostly verbal warnings.

    Great video. Here are a suggestion to make it even more useful. You could tap the positive for the relay board off of the power switch's on terminal instead of the battery connection. This would eliminate the need to remove the batteries when you are not using it. Another thing in the future may also be to add a barrel jack to the board to allow it to run from a 5V wall wart instead of the batteries. This would give you the power to run your larger relay board or multiple relays as you suggested at the end of your video for multiple light control. If you use a 3 pin barrel jack wired correctly, then the device would work on either the batteries or the wall wart again, without the need to remove the batteries.

      Those are all good ideas, I was going to do a more extensive video with some power mods but then I found this board which is now our best seller that incorporates all those abilities.

    Hi Steve, thanks for the awesome content!
    I wanted to ask, is there an easy way you could add a wire to the motion detector to allow the motion to be captured a distance away from the location you want the sound to play from? For example, I am thinking of putting the motion sensor at the beginning of a hallway with a prop at the other end that I want to make a noise when someone first enters the hallway.
    How would I go about this?

    • @TheMakersCave
      @TheMakersCave  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! With that particular all in one unit the easiest way is probably just what you said. Open up hte unit, cut the speaker wires, and run a length of speaker cable to where you want the sound. Although it doesn't help you right now, I'm going to be doing a video on a wireless motion activated sound project.

    Thank you for the video. I am trying a similar setup but I am using a dc motor off the relay. My question is where or what do I use to power the motor? Thank you.

    • @TheMakersCave
      @TheMakersCave  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would have to use separate power supply for whatever you want to run when the sound plays. The relay is just a "switch" and doesn't provide any power. I state this because a lot of people think it does.

    The led should have a flat spot.The flat spot side is your negative(cathode).

    could you also use the leads from the speaker and remove the sound part of it basically and have it just be a cheap motion trigger and let the prop make its noise. I've done this with the driveway alarms from harbor freight and just used the leads to the speaker.

    • @TheMakersCave
      @TheMakersCave  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure could. Just snip one of the speaker wires and put an mp3 file that plays the length you want the action for.

    Hi Steve! Questions about this hack. If you used the USB power block instead of batteries and wanted to trigger it with an external switch to the power (so the power is either on or off, triggering the sound when it’s on). How do you bypass the motion sensor? Unsolder it from the board? Would this option work? Similarly, if I use the updated board instead of this boxed board, and wanted to take the motion sensor out of the circuit and trigger it with an external switch, would that work?

      I have the newer card and relay you used in the two videos with the grey zombie doll/prop. I wired your setup to a corpsed child skeleton last year in her rocking chair and it was very successful. I ordered the card/relay/motion sensor from you after our haunt last year, but haven’t tried putting it on the new prop yet. We decided to make all the electric props powered from a manual button control box this year, so only one prop at a time is getting powered. We were worried the electrical system in the historic lighthouse might not carry everything at once, since we’ve added some new props.

    • @TheMakersCave
      @TheMakersCave  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The speaker wirers don't carry the type of current you need to activate a relay. Not sure if you saw the video of another board I reviewed, but here's the link. It might be better for what you want. th-cam.com/video/ms_yqQ7_NSs/w-d-xo.html
